She’s soft, snuggly, and absolutely convinced your lap is the center of the universe. She might still get a little nippy around food (girl loves her snacks, okay?), but she’s learning that fingers are not appetizers. Charlotte is putting on weight slow and steady, like a dainty little marshmallow in the making. Potty training is going shockingly well for someone roughly the size of a mitten braving the cold. She’s learning to toddle around the house with the big dogs and even snoozed right next to them like a brave little loaf. She’s discovered toys now and has politely informed everyone that chewing is her new personality. With how quickly she’s growing stronger, full-on puppy playdates with the resident dogs are basically scheduled for next week. Charlotte may be tiny, but she’s got big “I’m gonna be trouble soon” energy — and we love her for it. Charlotte is from a local impound. She’s sweet, gentle, and full of love—but don’t be fooled, she’s also the mastermind behind the great puppy pen escape. Her sister Louise is often left behind wondering what just happened while Thelma trots off, proud and pleased with herself. She and Louise were found dumped in a truck yard, and while we don’t know anything about their life before that, Thelma’s already shown us who she is: smart, playful, and determined. She learns quickly—faster than her sister, actually—and it’s fun to watch her little brain at work. She loves food puzzles (though they don’t last long) and wrestling with her furry friends in the yard. When she gets the zoomies, she’ll happily jump on the bed or couch and boop her favorite human with her nose! Thelma loves being outside with her humans and dog siblings, staying alert to unfamiliar noises and people. She does well on walks with her harness, and while she enjoys being near her people, she also likes her space. She’s shy around new people, needing a little time to warm up, but tasty treats—especially frozen blueberries—go a long way in winning her over. Because she can spook easily, Thelma will need a securely fenced yard or someone willing to keep&#226&#128&#139 her leashed while she outside. For her safety, tie-outs aren’t a good option. She’s best suited for a home with older children who can give her the space she needs as she adjusts, and no shared walls, as she may be vocal when excited or mid-play. Meet Poncho!! Intelligent, energetic and sweet, Poncho is a 2.5 yr old Border Collie mix. He has a young, happy heart and lights up like a kid on Christmas morning while playing with his ball or rope tug toy. He is loyal to his core, loving his family with everything he has. In fact, his theme song is “I’ll Stand By You” by the Pretenders. Poncho was a little too well loved in his prior home and is making progress toward achieving a healthy weight. His goal is around 50# from a current 56#. Luckily, he is excited to take his people for walks and show them around town. He pulls on leash for the first few minutes, then settles in nicely. It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy strolls before or after work (or both) with this handsome lad. Like many highly intelligent dogs, Poncho wants to use his big brain in addition to getting daily exercise. He enjoys puzzle toys and working on basic obedience skills.
