Story
Say hello to Baxter (49 lbs), a lively young man who`s always up for a good walk! He came to stay with us because the family he was with unfortunately couldn`t keep him. He’s crate trained and will be all too happy to point out the most fascinating smells on your walks together. We know that he’s lived with dogs previously, but we’d still love to set up a meet and greet between your dog and him. Come over to meet him during our open walk-in hours of noon to 4:30pm Wed – Sundays, with extended hours until 6:30pm on Thursdays. You can also reach our adoptions team:by email: adoptions@spcaonline.comby phone (during open hours): 607-257-1822 x221(Adoption Category: Lilac)

Story
Meet Winter, a resilient Collie mix with a heart as bright as her name. Back in April, we received a call about a group of puppies who weren’t being cared for properly. Among them was Winter. She had already endured more than any puppy should—caught in a home with neglect and drug abuse, she was kicked by one of the owners, leaving her front leg broken and untreated. When we arrived in Tuscaloosa and saw her pain and fear, we knew immediately that she needed us. The very next day, our vet confirmed the break. With proper care, love, and healing, Winter made a full recovery. Today, she’s thriving—happy, energetic, and playful, with all the sweetness you could ask for in a companion. Her beautiful white coat with warm red patches and her soulful eyes make her just as stunning on the outside as she is strong on the inside. Winter is ready for her forever home—a family who will treasure not only her playful energy and loving nature, but also the story of resilience she carries with her. If you’re looking for a dog who embodies both joy and strength, Winter is waiting to meet you.

Story
Sasha is a very good dog all around, we just don't have the time for her like she deserves and she is so young I would hate to drop her off at a shelter but the life she's living now is not a life for the active dog she is. She needs a big yard to run around in we have a big yard but she likes to jump fences, she does stay close but just makes me nervous with being on such a busy road. She's great with chickens, cats and other dogs from what we have seen in our home. She has very long and thick coat meaning she needs baths regularly and to be kept up to date with her flea collars/treatments. We do kennel her when we are not home just because she is still very curious as to get into everything at her eye sight. She's been great with our kids and loves to run around with them for reference we have a 2 and 4 year old and newborn. Plz message me with any questions.
