Story
Born approx. June 2020, Edwinn is a male Border Collie. He came to us afraid of the outside world and lacking confidence. He has made marked improvements in his foster home and is now ready to find his forever family. Edwinn is potty and crate trained. He is happiest when he is with his people and other dogs, for this reason, we will require Edwinn goes to a home with another confident dog to continue giving him guidance and reassurance. Edwinn needs a home with a secure 6 foot fence and one that will keep him active and mentally stimulated, breed experience is a huge bonus.Edwinn will do best in a home with adults or adults and kids over 5. It is unknown how he would do around cats. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Connor is ready for a home of his own! This boy is was born December 2018 and is a Border Collie mix. Connor struggles with insecurities and has a hard time meeting new people-but let me tell you that once you’ve made his “friends list” it’s for life! He will never let you down or leave you alone 😂😂 Connor will require a home with another confident canine companion, he does best with canine friends in his home to show him what’s okay. While he currently lives with dog savvy cats, he may not do well with new feline friends. Connor is not a dog that will ever enjoy going to dog parks, outdoor eateries, etc. That's not his scene. He prefers being with his family at home. He's an introvert's dream dog! 😉 He needs a calmer home with structure and routine, for this reason, a home without young children is best. Connor is potty, leash, and crate trained. He is still working on basic commands like sit, down, etc. He loves chew toys and treats. He will play tug-o-war but hasn't mastered fetch. We do require home ownership and a 6 foot fenced yard-no children under age 10. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Meet Stevie Nicks! She is a female Border Collie/American Staffordshire Terrier mix born approx. May 2017. Here is a little bit about her: she came into our program injured and wandering in a field. It appeared she had been attacked by another animal. Since that time she’s come a long way baby! She knows basic commands such as sit and shake, and is highly intelligent. She would do well with an owner who will continue with her training so she can be the best dog she can be. She can be talkative and is other dog selective. Cats are unknown. Stevie Nicks loves to play in the water and squeaky balls. Her forever home will require a secure 6 foot fence with adults or adults and children over 5. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Fabio is a gentle soul. He came into rescue from Tri City Animal Control. He was born approximately March 2020 - best guess. He is a collie mix. We don’t know much about his past but this poor soul has at least 13 BB pellets in his skull. He also has some mild separation anxiety and would love a person/family around a lot. He currently lives with many other dogs of all sizes, but he is most happy when just with people. He has not been around cats so we cannot determine compatibility. He is crate trained (but prefers a sofa, chair or your bed), housebroken and has good leash manners. He adores the attention of children and will happily roll onto his back for belly rubs 😊 We do recommend children over age 5 and preference given to a fenced yard. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Playful, affectionate, friendly, people-focused - Turk Rainbow is all that, AND handsome to boot! This fun pup is looking for a job as your lifelong companion. HISTORY The seven Rainbow pups were dumped on a country road near Prosser, in Eastern Washington, at the end of July. They found their way to a house and asked for help, and shortly afterwards were safe in a large run at a foster home. These pups have not yet lived as indoor dogs, because we did not have a foster home available for them. However they are handled lovingly multiple times a day and have lots of playtime outside the run, as well as having a good supply of toys and a swimming pool in their run, so they are healthy, happy and thriving. We have no way of knowing what breed they are. When we first took them in they looked like Heeler / Border Collie mix, but as they grew they looked and behaved more like Labradors. As to the source of Turk's gorgeous brindle coat, that's anyone's guess. The Rainbows are in Kennewick, Eastern Washington. While we prefer adopters to meet all the available pups before making their choice, we're willing to arrange transport to anywhere in the Pacific Northwest, just to help these babies get home! SOCIALIZATION Turk is a confident, friendly, happy pup. He LOVES people and eagerly comes running for attention and lovies. He's a big, clumsy boy who still has scratchy toenails and sharp puppy teeth, so he may be a bit too much puppy for a very young child - but with patient training we expect him to develop into a wonderful companion and family dog. He gets on well with his litter mates and is respectful toward older, bigger dogs, but his bouncy enthusiasm can be overwhelming for the tiny dogs in his foster home. There are peacocks, chickens and ducks at his foster home, and Tank and his brothers enjoy watching them through the fence. He hasn't interacted much with cats, but he's young enough to learn to respect the feline ruler of his forever home. TEMPERAMENT, BEHAVIOR & TRAINING Clearly the people who dumped them weren't kind or caring, but despite their rocky beginning the Rainbows are confident, affectionate and playful. There is NO indication that anyone has ever hurt or scared Turk. He trusts people and tends to be very focused on the human when he has company. He's showing signs of developing into a bit of an aristocrat. Sometimes Turk likes to parade calmly around the puppies' play area, acting like the lord of all he surveys. When he's in play mode, however, he forgets his dignity and hurtles at full speed from place to place, stopping only to poke his nose into something interesting. But pick him up for a cuddle and he just melts in your arms! He loves splashing in their paddle pool, playing tag, chewing on anything tasty, playing with toys, sniffing here and there - this boy is busy, brave and curious about his world! He is clearly intelligent and eager for human approval, and will probably be rewarding to train. Important to remember: TURK IS A PUPPY! Puppies are HARD WORK! They have sharp claws and needle teeth. He has been loved and cared for in his foster home, but Turk still has everything to learn about being a civilized indoor dog. Please don't apply to adopt a Rainbow unless you are up for the work of potty-training, teaching them the difference between their stuff (can chew) and yours (leave it), teaching them not to jump up on people, teaching them manners, taking them through at least basic training, and ensuring they don't hurt themselves or destroy anything you really care about in the process. PHYSICAL & HEALTH STATUS Based on their teeth at the time we took them in we estimated that the Rainbows were about 6-7 weeks old, and assigned them June 12, 2023 as their birthday. Based on their size at that time we expected them to grow to around 45 lbs ... but then we fed them and they started to grow. We've revised our estimate upward and believe they will mature at 60-75 lbs. They appear to be in good overall health, and have been vaccinated, treated for intestinal parasites, and microchipped. HART does not support pediatric spay and neuter. We believe, based on current research, that pups develop best when they have an uninterrupted supply of sex hormones for at least the first five months of their lives. The Rainbows' adopters will be contractually obligated to ensure that their pup is sterilized between five months and one year. HART will refund $100 - equivalent to the cost of sterilization by our usual veterinary clinic - when you provide proof that your pup has been sterilized. ADOPTION INFORMATION The Rainbows are living in a private home, and will be available to meet you after your adoption application has been approved. Please email HearthfireART@gmail.com to request an adoption application form. Story
He's a sturdy, handsome pup, as befits a royal prince ... but Royal is also a total goofball! He loves to run, and to play, and to snuggle, and to run some more, and to entertain the people. He is just a royally happy boy! HISTORY The seven Rainbow pups were dumped on a country road near Prosser, in Eastern Washington, at the end of July. They found their way to a house and asked for help, and shortly afterwards were safe in a large run at a foster home. However they are handled lovingly multiple times a day and have lots of playtime outside the run, as well as having a good supply of toys and a swimming pool in their run, so they are healthy, happy and thriving. We have no way of knowing what breed they are, but based on their look and demeanor we're guessing they contain a good percentage of medium-sized herding breeds. Heeler and Border Collie seem like a good guess, but they may also have some Labrador, and who knows what else. SOCIALIZATION The Rainbows are confident, friendly, happy pups who love people, cats and dogs. There are peacocks, chickens and ducks at their foster home, and they get to watch them through the fence. ❤️Looking for LOVE ❤️ I'm Peaches and I've been through a lot in my 3 short years. I've sat down and really thought about what I want in life and it's finally time for me to find my forever home. I'm great on a leash and would love to go with you on runs, walks or hikes. Beaches are fun, you can take me on day trip and we can spend the day jumping waves. I love car rides, so we can take a long vacation together and I will be the girl you love to travel with!! Although I am an adventurous kinda gal, I would be good with nights at home, watching a movie while I lay in your lap and you give me belly rubs and brushing. At night, I would love to sleep with you and wake you up with sweet kisses 💋 I'm not a fan of cats and some days, I'm a little too much for other dogs because I want to play more than they do. I've been working really hard at respecting personal spaces though!! If you think you may be the person I've been searching for, send me a note, let's get to know each other and see where it goes ❤️ Please be aware that all of our pets are in South Texas. They are transported to their new homes once adopted. We are 100% volunteer based, so it could take a day or 2 before we are able to process an application. If you are interested in adopting an animal, please fill out our adoption application using the blue Apply To Adopt button above and someone will review it shortly!

Story
We bought Ella from a Mini-Australian shepherd breeder when she was 10 weeks old in 2017. She'll be 6 years old in October. When we brought her into our home my kids were 11, 13, 15, and 17. Ella was Kennel trained as a puppy and my daughter took charge of teaching Ella tricks. Ella can do some really fun tricks and it's been one of the highlights of our relationship with her. She is affectionate and has had professional training. Ella has had issues with nipping at people when they get in her face since she was 2. We don't feel confident with her around young children. To understand why she might be nipping. We had the vet do a physical and he thinks her behavior problems are probably from the pain that she may be experiencing from arthritis in her 2 front legs. Ella is a joy to our family but we worry about her temperament around grandkids. She loves her people and loves to do tricks. She's affectionate and playful. A loving home is our hope.
