Story
Meet Harlow! Harlow is approximately 1 year old and is thought to be a possible Border Collie-type mix. Harlow was seen running on his own for about 4 weeks. During this time, he would be seen instigating play with dogs in the neighborhood, but would get spooked and run anytime someone tried to contain him. Eventually, someone was able to gain his trust and after a month of being scared and alone, he was brought to safety! We don't know if he was dumped and abandoned by his family, or if he just found himself lost, but either way, we promised him the best future we could provide! Harlow is still decompressing and understandably overwhelmed, so we're taking things one day at a time. He's very sweet and friendly, and even though he's still insecure (totally expected after what he's been through!), he turns to the closest human for reassurance and comfort. Harlow might spook easily, so safe containment anytime he's outdoors will be very important. This could certainly improve over time after he's settled with a new family and familiar with voices/commands, but until he feels fully safe and bonded with someone, a leash or a fence would be best. Harlow should do well with other pets and respectful children as long as everyone is properly introduced and supervised. He would benefit from a family who is willing to work with him on anything he might not know (his past is unknown at this time). Breeds like Harlow tend to be quick learners and bond quickly with their humans. If you have a little extra patience, we know Harlow is going to be a wonderful family pet! We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been approved: https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/home/showpublisheddocument/35564 (please email this PDF to monroecountydogshelter@gmail.com) Harlow is now neutered & current on vaccines. His adoption fee is $200.

Story
Alder is an extremely sweet, quiet, shy boy. He is the dog version of an introvert. He is gentle and sticks to himself and is great with other dogs of all sizes and with cats. He doesn't engage much with them thought as he prefers to do his own thing. He has to be the most low maintenance and chill dog I've ever had in the rescue out of hundreds of dogs. He is hesitant with people he doesn't know but never aggressive. Not an ounce of aggression. He was listed as a pit bull mix at the shelter when he was smaller and still a younger puppy but now that he is an older puppy (about a year) it's obvious that he is not a pittie but looks more like a border collie. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue/reviews (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative) Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95
