Story
Meet Simon! This fuzzy 8-year-old is such a sweetheart. He came in pretty matted on his back side, so he does have a funky haircut right now. He is very affectionate and loves his toys. He can get possessive over his food and toys, so young children are not recommended for him. He may do well with another dog but seemed a little too interested in the kitties. Simon is weighing in at 90 lbs currently. He is pretty overweight and is on a weight loss journey. Even though he can be possessive of his items, he is very tolerant with grooming and vet care! Simon will need continued grooming as his coat grows out to avoid becoming matted again. We are unsure whether Simon is house trained or not, but his kennel seems to be clean most of the time. Simon is neutered, micro chipped, and current on his vaccines. His adoption fee is $100.+tax. If you are interested in meeting/adopting Simon please fill out an application on our website; www.hspcwi.org. Only the approved adopter will be notified for an appointment. If the adopter is a resident of Portage County a dog license will be issued at the time of adoption.August 24, 2026, 7:01 pm

Story
This is Handsome! His name could not be more fitting. This guy is a massive cuddle bug and loves his toys. If you throw them for him, he will catch them in his mouth. He really enjoys squeaky toys and a good tennis ball. He can be a little shy at first, but after a few seconds, he will be leaning on your legs asking for pets. Handsome seems to do well with the cats and dogs here at the shelter. He is 47 lbs and is about 1 1/2 years old. The inside of Handsome's kennel is never messy, so we suspect that he is potty trained! He is neutered, microchipped, and current on his vaccines. His adoption fee is $150.+tax. If you are interested in meeting/adopting Handsome please fill out an application on our website; www.hspcwi.org. Only the approved adopter will be notified for an appointment. If the adopter is a resident of Portage County a dog license will be issued at the time of adoption.August 24, 2026, 7:01 pm

Story
Please note that we are a foster based rescue in TX. All of our dogs reside in foster homes in TX. We transport them to new states once adopted. ALL ADOPTERS MUST BE 21+. Our app can be found at haydudeequine.org Hey. I’m Walker. I am the smallest of the litter, and the one who takes “think before you leap” seriously. People say I’m a Border Collie–Lab mix, which means I got the smarts of a Collie… but luckily not the full-throttle, never-stop-running energy. I’m more of a medium-energy guy. I’ll solve the puzzle, then take a nap about it. I’m also the shy one. When I first meet someone I do this whole “I’m just a mysterious black-and-white shadow observing from a safe distance” routine. Give me thirty seconds and a kind word, though, and the act falls apart. Suddenly I’m all wiggles, soft eyes, and “okay fine, you’re my person now.” I warm up fast once I decide the coast is clear. I’m happy-go-lucky in the best way — not the bouncing-off-the-walls kind, more the “life is pretty great and I plan to enjoy it at a reasonable speed” kind. I like other dogs, I like people, and I especially like water. My early chapter wasn’t great. My story started on a property with a bunch of unfixed adult dogs. It wasn’t an easy beginning. Almost all of my littermates didn’t make it—they were lost to the heat and parasites. Somehow I held on. I’m one who made it out. I’m looking for a home that appreciates a slightly dramatic, medium-energy smarty-pants who will stick close once he trusts you… and who will pretend not to notice when I overthink a simple treat. If you want a pup who’s clever, sweet, and only mildly ridiculous, I’m your guy. Stay cool, Walker

PLEASE NOTE! WE ARE A TEXAS-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY IN TEXAS AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO YOUR STATE ONCE ADOPTED. Our application can be found at haydudeequine.org. Hi, I’m Dana! 🐾 I’m a happy 1-year-old Terrier mix (with a little scruffy terrier charm and herding dog energy) and I weigh about 40 pounds. I’ve got this cute black-and-white coat, a big smile, and the softest ears that flop when I get excited! I’m a sweet, playful, and gentle girl, though I can be a little shy when I first meet new people. Give me some time, patience, and kindness and I’ll quickly become your biggest fan. I get along really well with other dogs and would love to have a furry sibling to play with — it helps me feel more confident and brings out my silly, bouncy side! I’m already pretty smart and doing great with house training. I know how to use the dog door like a pro, and I’m eager to learn more. I’d thrive with a family who will keep teaching me new things, help me get better on the leash, and gently build my confidence in new situations. I’m looking for an active family that will take me on adventures, give me lots of playtime, and shower me with love and positive guidance. In return, I’ll give you my whole heart — endless loyalty, cuddles, and a lifetime of being your best little shadow and adventure buddy. If you’re ready for a sweet young dog who’s excited to grow and blossom with you, I’d love to come home and be your girl!

Story
The world can be a big and scary place, especially for a nervous girl like me. My name is Ruby and I`m looking for an adult only home where I can be the only pet; I know that makes things complicated as most households have children or other pets, but I`ve got a feeling that the right person is out there for me, somewhere. I`m a smart girl (too smart for my own good sometimes) and I don`t give my heart away easily but once you have it, it will be yours forever. I`d love for you to talk to staff about my past life and what I`m looking for in my future and maybe, if things go right, the things we need are one and the same.

Story
Hey there, my name is Vixie. I arrived by police car to HSMC, don`t worry I didn`t break any laws, they just gave me a ride. You may have noticed by looking at my photos, I am a little on the heavier side. It is important that my adopter understands how unhealthy this is for me and can help me on a weight loss journey to hel me be healthier in the future. I`ve met both dogs and cats in the shelter and did well with both. I enjoy spending time outside, walks and a little play time with toys. So, what do you say, should we do this adoption thing?
