Meet our sweet Chewy! He's 3 years old and 35lbs. He is great with other dogs but not good with cats. Good with kids. Neutered and vaccinated. Chewy’s story started on a beach in Puerto Rico, where he had been cruelly dumped and left to fend for himself. With a painful skin condition and nowhere to call home, this sweet boy began hanging around a beach bar, begging for scraps of food—and, more than anything, a little love. It’s clear that Chewy was once someone’s dog. Despite everything he’s been through, he is incredibly trusting, affectionate, and polite in the house. He absolutely loves people, adores belly rubs, is wonderful with kids, and is very, very sweet with other dogs. Cats, however, are not his thing, so his perfect home will be feline-free! Today, Chewy is healthy, happy, and ready to leave his past behind. At 35 pounds, he’s the perfect medium-sized best friend - our vet guesses he is a schnauzer/border terrier mix but of course, just her best guess! Chewy went from begging for food and affection at a beach bar to finally knowing what it feels like to be safe and cared for. Now there’s just one thing missing: a family of his own. Chewy is currently in Puerto Rico and can be transported to the States for an approved adopter or foster—whichever comes first. His transport is included in his adoption fee.
