Story
Cosmo and his sister Minnie are currently still at a rescue in California where they have been since they were 6 months young and they are now 4 years old which is very tragic. So we were asked if we can help to get them to the PNW because apparently no one in the last 3 1/2 years wanted to adopt them as a bonded pair. I think we can do better. They are small dogs and very sweet. Transport will be arranged from our side. Please call us if you’re interested in adopting them. 360 2580702

Story
Penelope Whiskers Hop Skip Snuggle comes with long legs, a scruffy little beard, and an underbite that deserves its own close-up. She’s a happy, bouncy girl who loves making friends, playing with toys, and backing up for a good booty scratch. Spend a little time with her and you’ll probably find yourself smiling and then making room on your lap to welcome her up. Go watch Penelope on YouTube to see those little legs in action and meet the sweet, scruffy girl behind that adorable underbite! https://youtu.be/2v7xxbIJ7iY Penelope is wonderfully friendly with people and would be the perfect sidekick for someone who also enjoys people and fun. Visitors to welcome, people to meet on walks, smiles to spread- these are all things she will happily put on her calendar. She loves being held and being close to her people, but she also has plenty of playful energy. Give her time to walk, bounce around, and enjoy her toys, and you’ll get to know both her fun side and her snuggly side. She has met dogs both big and small and especially enjoys companions who can play without being too pushy or physical with her. Smaller dogs feel comfortable right away, while bigger friends mean she takes one extra beat to find her footing before the bouncy play begins. Her ideal dog buddy will join in the fun, respond to her cues, and let her wander off to mingle with the people when she is ready for a break. She can bring some enthusiasm to her own play, too, and responded well when another dog let her know it was their turn for a break. Penelope also did well meeting our house cat, Biggie, which was so sweet to see. Any introductions to cats in her future home should still be gradual and supervised but we see a respectfully cautious dog that should have no problem living with a feline friend. We think Penelope may be a Border Terrier and Chihuahua mix, though breed is our best guess and we estimate her to be 1 year old. She could be happy in an apartment or a house with regular exercise and playtime. She has a start on her leash skills and needs continued practice given her age. A first-time adopter willing to teach her the basics could be a lovely match. Penelope brings a lot to look forward to- a cheerful walking buddy, a willing playmate, and a scruffy little face looking up at you from your lap. Meet Leia A Sweet Little Border Terrier Mix Ready to Be Someone’s Beloved Companion Breed: Border Terrier Mix Gender: Female | Age: 9/28/2026 Weight: 12 lbs Good With: Dogs ✔️ | Kids ✔️ | Cats: Unknown Personality: ❤️ Sweet | Loving | Playful | Affectionate Medical: Spayed and vaccines up to date Location: Los Angeles, California Transportation: Ozzie and Friends Rescue coordinates safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. ❤️ Personality & Breed Information Leia is an adorable Border Terrier mix weighing approximately 12 pounds. She's a sweet young girl with a lovable personality, a playful spirit, and plenty of affection waiting for the family lucky enough to call her their own. Leia is good with other dogs and children, while her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. At only one year old, Leia is still a young dog with plenty of energy and curiosity, but she's beginning to move beyond the puppy stage. She's at a wonderful age for a family looking for a little companion they can continue training, exploring with, and building a lifelong bond with. ❤️ Personality & Breed Information Border Terriers are known for being friendly, affectionate, curious, and full of personality. They often have a wonderful combination of playful Terrier energy and a loving, people-oriented nature, making them fun little companions who enjoy being part of everyday family life. As a Terrier, they may also be bright, confident, adventurous, and eager to explore. They benefit from daily walks, playtime, mental enrichment, and positive-reinforcement training to keep both their body and mind engaged. With plenty of affection, consistency, and opportunities to have fun, a Border Terrier can make a loving, entertaining, and devoted little companion Training, Adjustment & What to Expect At one year old, Leia is still learning and maturing. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so her adopter should be prepared to continue working on house training as needed, leash manners, basic commands, recall, household boundaries, and positive socialization. Small dogs need training and structure just as much as larger dogs. Positive reinforcement, patience, and consistency will help Leia understand what is expected of her while strengthening the bond she shares with her new family. The 3-3-3 Rule 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand her new household routine 3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home These are guidelines rather than deadlines. Leia should be given the time she needs to adjust comfortably to her new life. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Leia's spay, vaccination, and microchip status have not been provided. Her adopter should review her medical records with a veterinarian and continue routine wellness examinations, recommended vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental care, quality nutrition, grooming, nail care, healthy weight management, and veterinary treatment whenever necessary. Dental care is especially important for small dogs, so Leia's teeth and gums should be monitored throughout her life. Her coat may also require routine professional grooming depending on its length and texture. If Leia has inherited the shorter facial structure sometimes seen in Shih Tzus, her family should be mindful of heat and strenuous exercise, especially during hot or humid weather. Adoption Information If you are interested in adopting Leia, please complete an adoption application: https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions Ozzie and Friends Rescue is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing dogs in need and helping them find safe, loving forever homes. While based in Southern California, we coordinate safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. Our goal is to give every dog the best possible chance of finding the right family and a home where they will be loved and cared for throughout their life. Adopting Leia means committing to her veterinary care, grooming, training, safety, companionship, and happiness for the rest of her life. Leia may be only 12 pounds, but she has a whole lot of love waiting to be given. She's young, sweet, and ready for walks, cuddles, adventures, and all those ordinary little moments that turn a dog into family. Now Leia just needs someone to choose her—and keep choosing her for all the years ahead.September 30, 2026, 4:44 pm
