Meet Sweet Dolly! Dolly's story didn't start the way every puppy's should. She came from an Amish puppy mill, where her interactions with people were very limited. But now, in her loving foster home, Dolly is discovering just how wonderful the world-and people-can be. Dolly is looking for a patient and understanding family who will give her the time she needs to continue learning and gaining confidence. In return, she has SO much love to give! Once Dolly gets to know you, there is nothing she loves more than settling in for a good belly rub. She absolutely loves other dogs! Playing outside is her favorite thing ever! She is working hard on her potty training and doing well. Her crate is her safe space when she feels unsure or overwhelmed. She sleeps comfortably in her crate at night, although I have a feeling that with time, she may decide sleeping next to her favorite human is even better! Dolly may need a little extra patience, but watching her blossom is incredibly rewarding. She is learning that hands can be gentle, people can be trusted, and life can be filled with love, belly rubs, playtime, and a family of her very own. If you have room in your heart for a sweet girl who just needs someone to believe in her, Dolly might be your perfect match. He was found wandering on his own, and when he first arrived, he was nervous and unsure of everyone, hanging back in his kennel and keeping his distance. It didn’t take long for that to change. Little by little, with plenty of treats and even more kindness, he figured out that people are pretty great after all. These days, he wants to say hi to everyone he sees!Our staff and volunteers have been right beside him every step of the way. One volunteer spent a whole weekend with him, and she came back with stories. They spent an afternoon sitting in a field, where he happily people-watched as folks came and went. When she asked if he needed to go potty, he trotted straight to the door, and he took to the treadmill like a champ on his very first try. Along the way, he picked up sit and shake, and “down” is nearly in the bag. A good treat always helps, and whipped cream is his very favorite. She returned completely in love with him.Strudel has come such a long way, and now he knows exactly what he’s looking for. More than anything, he wants a person to call his own. He’s a young guy with a big, happy motor, so he needs an active home with lots of play and attention every day, plus a high-energy dog sibling to run and wrestle with. He’s still learning his manners when the excitement takes over, so his family will set up classes with a positive-reinforcement trainer before he heads home. With a brain like his, training will be the best part of his day, and yours too. That curly coat will need regular grooming to stay soft and fluffy.Strudel has so much love to give, and some lucky family is about to find out that life is sweeter with a Strudel.
