Strudel’s Compatibility:Dogs - Would love a playful, high-energy dog sibling!Cats - Passed his cat test!Kids - 12 and upIt’s not every day a curly-coated doodle comes through our doors as a stray, but that’s exactly how Strudel’s story with us began! He was found wandering on his own, and when he first arrived, he was nervous and unsure of everyone, hanging back in his kennel and keeping his distance. It didn’t take long for that to change. Little by little, with plenty of treats and even more kindness, he figured out that people are pretty great after all. These days, he wants to say hi to everyone he sees!Our staff and volunteers have been right beside him every step of the way. One volunteer spent a whole weekend with him, and she came back with stories. They spent an afternoon sitting in a field, where he happily people-watched as folks came and went. When she asked if he needed to go potty, he trotted straight to the door, and he took to the treadmill like a champ on his very first try. Along the way, he picked up sit and shake, and “down” is nearly in the bag. A good treat always helps, and whipped cream is his very favorite. She returned completely in love with him.Strudel has come such a long way, and now he knows exactly what he’s looking for. More than anything, he wants a person to call his own. He’s a young guy with a big, happy motor, so he needs an active home with lots of play and attention every day, plus a high-energy dog sibling to run and wrestle with. He’s still learning his manners when the excitement takes over, so his family will set up classes with a positive-reinforcement trainer before he heads home. With a brain like his, training will be the best part of his day, and yours too. That curly coat will need regular grooming to stay soft and fluffy.Strudel has so much love to give, and some lucky family is about to find out that life is sweeter with a Strudel.

We had lived for 20+ years on more than 10 acres where our dogs come in and out of house as they pleased (we had an electronic dog door w a sensor on their collars that would activate when they got close to it) and so although they were “inside” dogs, they could be outside whenever they wanted. We have recently moved to a house in downtown Indy and we have no yard. They have been chewing non food items (papers, the walls) which had NEVER happened before. This is despite long walks three times a day. Lilly (and his 11 yo brother Walt ) seem miserable. SHe is healthy
