Story
Charlie here — part adventure buddy, part loyal shadow, part professional branch collector.
I’m a young, smart, goofy guy with a big heart and a whole lot of love for my people. If you’re looking for a dog who wants to be your true companion, I might just be your guy.
My favorite thing in the world is being near my humans. Couch time? Perfect. Yard time? Even better. Hanging out nearby while you work? I’m happy to supervise. I love being included and will gladly follow you from room to room just to keep you company.
I’m also a clever boy who enjoys having something to do. I already know sit, down, leave it, and usually come when called. I’m a quick learner and really thrive with someone who enjoys working with a smart dog. I do pay close attention to the world around me — sometimes a little too well — so my future family should be ready to keep my brain busy and stay one step ahead of my problem-solving skills.
Outside time is one of my favorite things. I love exploring, sniffing, going for walks, and proudly collecting branches. Because I have a strong prey drive, I’m looking for a home without cats, small dogs, or small critters. I have done well with dogs around my size and can enjoy playing with them, but I don’t need constant dog play to be happy. I can also get excited when I see other animals on walks, so I’ll do best with someone who can continue helping me with calm, consistent leash skills.
I’m fully house trained and generally have nice house manners. I can entertain myself with toys and love a good game, although I have my own opinions about fetch. I’ll happily chase the ball, but bringing it back is optional — sometimes I prefer to toss it myself and go get it. It’s a very efficient system, if you ask me.
I’m a very people-focused dog, so alone time is something I’m still building confidence with. A steady routine, patience, and continued support will help me keep making progress. I’m currently trying medication to help me feel more settled, and I’ll go into my crate on my own. In the car, I ride quietly like a perfect gentleman.
I may be barky when meeting new people at first, but it’s just because I take my job as lookout seriously. Once I know someone is safe, I warm up and show my friendly, affectionate side.
I’m a sensitive, loyal, loving dog who wants stability, patience, and a person or family who sees all the good in me. With the right home, I know I’m going to make someone a very special best friend.
