Story
Pablo, Pablito, Pablo the Potato, Wheels of Steel-Happiness is a Choice
Hi. I’m Pablo. I’m 2 years old, and I’m very happy to be alive. I was surrendered because my old family didn’t have the time to care for me anymore. No hard feelings — life happens. What matters is I’m safe now, and I wake up every single day excited about it. My medical records say I have two calcified discs that haven’t ruptured and some wedged vertebrae. Surprise, surprise… I’m a French Bulldog. We’re built a little different. The most important thing? I’m not in pain. I’m just me — happy, wiggly, and ready for whatever’s next.
Personality: Pure Joy in a Compact Body
If you’re looking for easy-going with a splash of personality, that’s me. I bunny hop up to give kisses. I run like my legs work perfectly (because in my mind, they do). I follow my pack everywhere like it’s my full-time job. Nothing stops me. I love being part of the group, whether that’s lounging near you, cruising in my wheels, or supervising the backyard like a tiny manager. I love a good bone to chew, mealtime is my absolute favorite event of the day, and I’m always smiling about something. Sometimes I get excited and let out a little scream — we’re working on that — but honestly, I just have big feelings about life. During diaper changes I may perform a professional-level alligator roll, and I’m not a fan of having my feet wrapped, but I promise I will make up for it with kisses.
Mobility & Medical
I can stand and take a couple of steps — about two solid ones — and I do favor my right hind leg. But guess what? I learned to use my wheelchair in about half a second. I don’t see it as a big deal. It just means I move a little differently. I’m stable, comfortable, and I feel good. I’ll need a family who keeps me safe from jumping, keeps me at a healthy weight, and helps protect my spine long term. But I don’t need pity. I just need partnership. I start my Chiro appointments in a few weeks and I’m so excited to get back up and go! FFR has gotten dogs back up, so I have some high hopes! You just have to believe!
Training & Manners
I know some important things like “come,” “stop,” and “sit” (we’re all still negotiating what that looks like). I take treats nicely because I’m a gentleman. I absolutely thrive with other dogs and love being part of a pack. I don’t love it when a new dog rushes right into my face — I prefer polite introductions with proper butt sniffing etiquette. Once we’ve established the rules, I’m all in. I’ll follow my dog friends everywhere like we’re in a little squad.
The Home I’m Looking For
I’m looking for a loving home that sees how capable I am. I want people who are calm, steady, and ready to laugh with me. A home with other friendly dogs would make me very happy, but mostly I just want to belong. I’m easy-going, affectionate, and always ready to be part of whatever is happening. I don’t wake up thinking about what I can’t do. I wake up thinking about breakfast, friends, and kisses.
Final thought
I’m Pablo. I’m joyful. I’m resilient. I’m gentle and goofy and completely in love with life. If you’re ready for a little shadow who will follow you everywhere, zoom beside you in my wheels, and remind you daily that happiness is a choice, I think we’d be perfect together. Call me whatever just call me home!
