Story
Hi there! I’m Zipper and I’m a very confused boy. I lived with a family for years and now suddenly I was returned to foster care. Unfortunately, the little kid in my home developed allergies. I’m a very sweet and cuddly 6 year old Boston Terrier /Chihuahua mix and I weigh 36 pounds. I love going for long walks and then snuggling up with my person with a good chewy treat or toy. I’m crate and house trained, I don’t mind cats and other dogs, but I do prefer to keep my toys to myself. Because I’m not a fan of sharing, maybe I’d do best in a home without small children. I also don’t mind being your only pet! If you are interested in adopting Zipper, please submit an inquiry directly with Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. ***Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to meet/pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt.***April 27, 2024, 4:07 pm

Story
This is a courtesy posting for Cornelius Animal Shelter where a dog named Petunia Grace has been living for over one year since her owner died. She was 8 years old last August and is currently about 45 pounds. Petunia is mostly black with white markings on her chest. She does need to be an only dog and likes a quiet home with no kids. Petunia Grace likes to bond with one or two people. Some of her favorite things to do are snuggling on a couch or going for a car ride! She only has one medical issue and that is she’s allergic to chicken dog food. Petunia Grace doesn’t bark for no reason but if someone she doesn’t trust approaches your/her territory, then she is an excellent guard dog who will alert you and scare people away. If you are interested in meeting Petunia and possibly adopting her, please call Cornelius Animal Shelter at 704-237-3602 to make an appointment since they have limited hours. The shelter is located at 19110 Meridian St., Cornelius, NC 28031 (which is right off Catawba Avenue in Cornelius – Exit 28 – I-77)

Story
Hello, hello, humans! Woof! My name is Atticus, and I'm here to share my tail-wagging tale with you. At one and a half years old, I may still be a young pup, but let me tell you - I've got a heart as big as my bark and plenty of love to give. Let's start with the basics - I'm what they call a medium mixed breed, but around here, they just call me cute! With my mostly white fur and adorable black spots, including one around my left eye, I'm quite the handsome fella, if I do say so myself. And at 33 pounds, I may not be the biggest pup around, but I've got a big personality to make up for it! Now, let's talk about my journey to the shelter. I came in as a stray, extremely underweight and malnourished. But thanks to the kind folks here, I've been on the road to recovery, gaining weight and strength day by day. They've been feeding me several small meals a day to help me get back on my paws, and let me tell you - I'm feeling better than ever! When it comes to my personality, well, let's just say I've got a lot to say! I'm quite vocal, always ready to let out a bark or two to let you know how I'm feeling. But don't let that fool you - I'm also a total sweetheart who loves people to bits. Whether it's cuddling on the couch, going for walks in the park, or just hanging out together, I'm happiest when I'm by your side. Speaking of walks, I'm a pro on a leash! I walk very well and love exploring the great outdoors with my favorite humans. And when it comes to potty training, I'm almost there - just a few more accidents to go, and I'll be fully housetrained in no time! Now, let's talk about my smarts - I'm super smart and treat motivated, which makes me a quick learner. Whether it's learning new tricks or mastering obedience commands, I'm always eager to show off my skills for a tasty treat. And let's not forget about playtime - I absolutely adore playing with toys and running around with my favorite people. It's the best way to burn off all this energy I've got! As for other furry friends, well, I'm not quite sure how I feel about them just yet. I haven't had much experience with other dogs and cats, so it's hard to say how I would react. But with the right introduction and guidance, I'm sure I could learn to get along just fine. Before you come to meet me at the shelter, please note that adopters will need to fill out an adoption application online first. This helps ensure that we find the perfect match for each other. Once your application is approved, we can arrange a visit and start our journey together! So, if you're looking for a loyal companion who's equal parts cute, cuddly, and full of potential, look no further than yours truly, Atticus. I can't wait to meet you and start our happily ever after! You can fill out an adoption application for me using this link: https://foothillshumanesociety.org/adopt/adoption-application/
