Story
Layla's owner planned to take her to Birmingham Humane Society but since my daughter knew they were overfull and also other rescue groups were full too, she offered to foster the dog and try to find her a new home. She has been with us several weeks and we have determined she likes other dogs and leaves the cat alone. She is still much a puppy with lots of energy and wants to run and play hard. However, she is not destructive and potties outside consistantly. Her owner took good care of her - she's up to date on vaccines, spayed and is heartworm negative. We already have a house full and cannot keep another dog but hope to find her a good home. She would be a good hiking buddy.

Story
This is Taz he is a 3yo boxer and Pitt mix. He was a family dog then I moved out and when i would come to visit I saw they were taking the best care of him and they are very unfit to care for him . He is a playful, sweet, protective boy who might be timid around new people. If he finds a new home I’m looking for someone who can have him a veterinarian and he’ll have plenty of room to run around. He has never been around children.

Story
Meet Aubie 💙 Aubie is a 10 year old Boxer mix. He had a wonderful home where he was spoiled and loved up until a few months ago and then his world fell apart 😔. Aubie’s owner got very sick and could no longer care for himself or Aubie. Aubie was placed at a local vet clinic for several months in hopes that someday he could return home to his person and the life he had always known but unfortunately that is not going to be possible due to the fact that his previous owner has had to have more surgery and has sadly lost his ability to walk. So now Aubie is looking for a new home where he has never has to worry about the future and he can just focus on being the good boy that he is. Aubie is crate and house trained and would do great in a settled home where he still gets to be active. We think a home with an active person or couple or one with older children would be great for Aubie. He is okay with other dogs but is not really interested in being a doggie friend. Aubie just wants a person to hang with and to play ball non stop 🎾. He is very active for his age so a fenced yard for him to run around in is a high priority especially since he loves to spend time outside. This boy has been through so much recently, we are praying his new family will see this post and give him the opportunity to live out his life in the way he deserves being loved and cared for by his new hero. ❤️

Story
Introducing the most handsome boy, Loki!🐕 Loki is a 10 month-old, 52lb Boxer/Rotti/Bulldog mix that is ready to meet his forever family. He is sweet, snuggly, and loves to play! He is such a good boy that deserves a home of his own that will appreciate him for the amazing, intelligent boy that he is💕 This good boy is great with other dogs. He loves to play with them, go for walks, and snuggle up with the other pups in his foster home. He is very smart and trainable and LOVES to learn. He is very toy-driven (but not possessive of them!) and his favorites are his jolly ball and nylabone!🎾 Loki has already been through basic obedience training, walks well on a leash and settles well in his crate with a nylabone. He was adopted out at 9 weeks old, but unfortunately he was returned at 9 months because the cat in the home didn’t like his playfulness 🥺 he isn’t aggressive but didn’t respect her cues to “back off,” so now he is back with his foster mom and hoping his next home is his FOREVER. 🏡 Sweet Loki is looking for a home with another playful pup or two and a fenced in yard for romping and sunbathing! He is easy to please, and is still just a puppy with a whole lot of love to give🐶 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Story
Hi! My name is Buddy! I am almost three years old. I currently live with my four year old Rhodesian sister Rosie and my two cat brothers Sunny and Gray. I am a sweet, attentive, smart boy. I have an acre of land to play on, but all I want to do is be my Mommy's shadow. She works a lot, and I am a master at wiggling under the fence to play with the kids that live next door, so I have to stay in the crate most of the day. I would absolutely love a new forever home where I can play as hard as I am meant to, follow you wherever you will lead, and be your new best friend! Hope to meet you soon!

These pups are in Bessemer, Alabama too!

Story
we have had Grendel for 6-7 and he is about that old. We lived in an apt for a year and he was house trained then but he has since then been outside in a fenced in yard and heated dog house. We have a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old. He leaves them alone for the most part, I am just not comfortable with them out playing with him, so I put him on the leash when they are outside. He would love to play with them he is just so strong I’m scared he will accidentally hurt them. He get next to no attention from us. So when he does get it he is extra hyper and jumpy. He chews on anything left in the yard and digs. I assume that is because he is bored and could be fixed with attention. We have an older shih tzu that he leaves alone. We have found he will whine when away from our house. He will need someone that can take the time to work with him and let him adjust to a new home. He really needs somewhere where he can run and some one who is not intimidated by him jumping on them until that
