Please make sure to read the narrative below our pet's photos as you will find a description of our pet with all we know about them, our adoption fee info, and you will find the link to do our online Adoption Application which is the first step in our Adoption Process!     Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application!   Pet Description:  Ruthie is a female mix, looks like a possible Boxer/Lab mix, 9 1/2-months old as of late Feb '26 Found as a stray pup and brought to us, originally, adopted and returned today for escaping.  She is super sweet and loving, great with other dogs.   DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more.  (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter).   The first step is to our Adoption Application here:  https://elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html .   IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you.  Please make sure you have either added our email  (hselco@bellsouth.net)  to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe. Oh my gosh! Look at this cutie pie!! This is Wade Wilson! He is a young terrier mix that was recently picked up by Animal Control as he wandered in a neighborhood. Wade Wilson was never claimed and is now available for adoption. He has all of his vaccinations for his age, he has a microchip, and he has been neutered. Keep in mind that he is still a young puppy so be prepared to spend time with him teaching him everything he needs to know to be a well-mannered and loyal dog!

Chewie is a nice medium size boy that was picked up by Animal Control after a kind homeowner called the shelter about some dogs in her yard that she didn’t know. Animal Control picked up the dogs and brought them to the safety of the shelter. Chewie was never claimed by his owner and he is now ready for adoption. Chewie has all of his vaccinations, he has a microchip, and he has been neutered. One problem did show up on health check up. Chewie is heartworm positive, but we are not worried! The shelter already has his treatment all set up and he is eager to begin his road to a healthy life! It would be great if Chewie could find a foster to help him through his treatment. What would be even better is if that foster would fall in love with him and then adopt him as a member of the family! We all love happy endings!

When I first arrived at the shelter, I was in pretty rough shape. Thankfully, I went to a loving foster home where I was cared for, healed, and learned all about being a good dog! I know how to potty outside, walk great on a leash (and I love walks!), I know how to sit and fetch, and get along great with other animals. I love cuddling up beside you just as much as I love playing fetch in the yard. Please come meet me! I know you will love my goofy personality ❤️
