Meet Ace! Somehow, this sweet boy has found himself back where his story started. Ace was adopted from us a few years ago as a puppy, but unfortunately, his owner was moving and could no longer keep him. So Ace returned to MHS, ready to start the next chapter of his life. When Ace arrived, he was covered in fleas and had developed a skin issue as a result. But our team immediately jumped into action! We got those pesky fleas taken care of and started Ace on a treatment plan to help his skin feel healthy and comfortable again. We think Ace may be a Boxer mix, but honestly... your guess is as good as ours! What we do know is that he's a sweet, handsome boy who is ready to put the past behind him and find the family he's been waiting for. Ace is a little over 2 years old, weighs around 40 pounds, and is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more.  (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter).   The first step is to our Adoption Application here:  https://elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html .   IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you.  Please make sure you have either added our email  (hselco@bellsouth.net)  to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe. Waffle is a sweet boy that was recently picked up by Animal Control. A neighbor called about a dog roaming the neighborhood. When our deputy went out he found an “incredibly sweet” boy that wagged his tail and greeted the officer with smiles and wags! After arriving at the shelter he was given a big clean dog run and a big bowl of food! He was really happy to be in the air conditioning and have a nice bed where he could lie down. He was never claimed and is now available for adoption. Waffle has all of his vaccinations, he is heartworm negative, he has a microchip, and he has been neutered. If you would like an “incredibly sweet” four-legged friend living at your house, then come in to meet Waffle.

Good Morning or maybe I should say Good Afternoon! I guess it depends on where you are right now! My name is Romeo and I am so happy to start the process of looking for a new home. I was picked up by one of the nice deputies of Animal Control not too long ago. I was roaming in a neighborhood and nobody knew who I was. Anyway I waited at the shelter my allotted time and I am now ready for adoption. I am a two-year-old terrier mix. I have all of my vaccinations, I am heartworm negative, I have a microchip, and I have been neutered. I hope you will come to meet me. I am a really nice fellow that hopes to have a new home soon!

Walt is one cute fellow! Walt was picked up by one of our Animal Control officers after someone called about a stray puppy in her yard. When she went out to check on it, it jumped on her. When Walt was jumping on her, he was just playing and wanting attention. He didn’t know that jumping on a stranger was not the best thing to do. Anyway, “friendly” Walt rode to the shelter to wait for his family to claim him, but no one ever came. Now Walt is ready for adoption. Walt has all of his vaccinations, he has a microchip, and he has been neutered. Hopefully his new family will teach him good doggie manners such as “don’t just up on people you don’t know!!” Teenage puppies like Walt are lots of fun, but they also need time, consistent training, and a ton of exercise! Hopefully Walt’s new family will give him the life and love he deserves.
