Story
Hi there, future family! My name is Lafonda, and oh boy, do I have a tail&#226&#128&#145wagging story to tell you. I’ve been waiting a long time to share it with the special humans who will someday call me their own. Maybe—just maybe—that’s you. I’m about four years old, which means I’ve got the perfect mix of youthful pep and grown&#226&#128&#145up charm. Back in June of 2025, I was picked up as a stray in Yuma. I don’t remember much about how I ended up on my own, but I do remember how relieved I was when kind people scooped me up and kept me safe. I spent some time at the pound there, dreaming of the day someone would walk in, point at me, and say, “That’s the one.” It didn’t happen then… but that’s okay, because my journey wasn’t over. Now I’m living my best temporary life at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, and let me tell you—I’m soaking up all the love, treats, and playtime I can get. Still, every night when I curl up to sleep, I imagine what it will feel like to finally have a forever home. A place where I can stretch out on a soft bed, chase toys across the yard, and follow my humans around like the loyal shadow I’m destined to be. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room—or rather, the bald spot on my head. Yep, I’ve got one! When I was found, I had a wound there, but it’s all healed up now. The hair just never grew back, so I rock a permanent little shiny patch. Personally, I think it adds character. Some dogs have fancy markings; I have a built&#226&#128&#145in conversation starter. It makes me unique, memorable, and honestly kind of adorable. I’m all up to date on my vaccinations, and I’ve been microchipped so I’ll never get lost again. That part is really important to me. After spending who&#226&#128&#145knows&#226&#128&#145how&#226&#128&#145long wandering alone, the idea of always being connected to my people feels like the warmest, safest hug. Now, let’s get to the fun stuff—my personality. If you’re looking for a couch potato, I’m probably not your girl. I’m an active, playful, goofy, boxer&#226&#128&#145mix bundle of energy. I love to run, jump, wiggle, and especially play fetch. Oh, fetch. My absolute favorite. Throw the ball once, and I’ll think you’re neat. Throw it twice, and I’ll think you’re amazing. Throw it three times, and I’ll love you forever. I adore people. Hanging out with humans is one of my top hobbies. Whether you’re relaxing, working in the yard, or just wandering around the house, I’m happiest when I’m part of the action. I’m loyal, affectionate, and always ready to brighten your day with a tail wag or a goofy grin. I do need to mention one thing: I’m not good with cats. I know, I know—they’re cute and fluffy, but something about them just gets me too excited. So a cat&#226&#128&#145free home would be best for everyone involved. If you’re looking for a dog who will bring joy, laughter, and endless enthusiasm into your life, I think we might be a perfect match. I’ve been waiting since last summer for my forever family to find me. Maybe you’re the one who will finally say, “Come on, Lafonda. Let’s go home.” If you’d like to meet me—and I really hope you do—please email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I’ll be here, tail wagging, ready to greet you with all the love I’ve been saving up. PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Story
Hi… my name is Lola, and I’ve been waiting for someone like you. I’m about a year and a half old, a Boxer with a full, happy tail that never seems to stop wagging once I get comfortable. Life has been a bit of a mystery for me so far—I don’t really remember where I came from. I was found all alone as a stray in Yuma, Arizona, and even though kind people looked for my family, no one ever came to take me home. But that’s okay… because now I’m here at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, and everyone keeps telling me my real family is still out there, just waiting to meet me. Maybe that’s you. I should probably tell you something important about me—I can be a little shy at first. New people make me a bit unsure, and I just need a little time to figure out that everything’s okay and that I can trust you. But once I do… oh boy, you’d better be ready. Because that’s when the zoomies happen. You’ll see a whole different side of me—my tail wagging like crazy, my feet flying, my whole body wiggling with excitement. I just get so happy! It’s like all the love I’ve been holding inside comes bursting out at once. I promise I’ll make you laugh. Underneath that playful, energetic side, I’m really just a sweet, affectionate girl. I love being around my people and soaking up attention once I feel safe. I’m the kind of dog who will quietly come stand by you, just happy to be close, and then suddenly turn into your goofy best friend the next minute. When it comes to skills, I’m pretty good on a leash already—but I could use a little polishing. I’m still young, after all, and there’s plenty for me to learn. The good news is that I’m eager and willing, and I just need someone patient who will spend a little time helping me become the best version of myself. I promise it’ll be worth it. One of my favorite things? Water! When the weather gets hot, I absolutely love taking a dip in the pool. There’s nothing better than cooling off and splashing around—it makes me feel so happy and free. If you’ve got a pool or love spending time near water, I think we’ll get along just fine. There are a few things we don’t know about me yet. I haven’t been tested with cats, so that would need to be a careful introduction if you have any at home. But I’m open to learning about new friends, as long as we take things at a comfortable pace. The people here have taken really good care of me. I’ve been spayed, I’m up to date on all my vaccinations, and I now have a microchip—which means that if I ever get lost again, I’ll always have a way to find my way back home. That part makes me feel safe… and hopeful. What I really want is a family who understands that I might be a little shy at first—but who will see the sweet, playful girl waiting just underneath. Someone who will give me patience, kindness, and a little bit of training along the way. In return, I’ll give you everything I have—my loyalty, my silly zoomies, my wagging tail, and my whole heart. If you think we might be meant for each other… I would love to meet you. Please email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment to come visit me here at Central Arizona Animal Rescue. I’ll be the one watching hopefully, waiting for my person to walk through the door. With love (and zoomies), Lola   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Story
Meet Jazzy: A Sweet Boxer Girl Looking for Her Second Chance Hi there! My name is Jazzy, and I'm hoping that somewhere out there, my new best friend is reading this right now. I'm a beautiful Boxer girl who is about 3 years old, at least that's our best guess. Nobody knows exactly where I came from because I was picked up as a stray by Animal Control. The funny thing is, everyone here agrees that I was almost certainly a house dog before I ended up wandering around on my own. You see, I'm not exactly what you would call an experienced outdoor adventurer. In fact, I'm much more comfortable lounging around with my people than roughing it outside. There's another clue that gives away my former life as a beloved pet—I arrived carrying a little extra weight around my middle! Let's be honest: truly homeless dogs rarely show up looking a bit chubby. Someone was definitely sharing snacks with me at some point. While I appreciate the treats, I'm now looking for a family who will help me stay healthy. I could stand to lose a few pounds, and that means I need a human willing to help me watch my calories and get the exercise I need. The good news? If you enjoy taking walks, we might be the perfect match! I would love a family that enjoys getting outside for daily strolls, exploring the neighborhood, or just spending time together. Every walk helps me get a little healthier, and I promise I'll be grateful for every step we take together. Think of me as your adorable fitness partner—one with four legs and a very happy tail. Speaking of my tail, I still have my full natural tail, and my ears haven't been cropped, so they flop over naturally when I walk. Many people think my floppy ears give me an extra sweet expression, and I have to admit they do a pretty good job of showing when I'm happy—which is most of the time! Everyone here says I'm a very sweet girl. I enjoy attention, and I'm always ready to make new friends. What I really want is a family of my own where I can finally relax and know I'm home for good. There are still a few things we don't know about me. Since the rescue doesn't have children or cats around regularly, we haven't been able to see how I interact with them. Because of that, any introductions should be done carefully and thoughtfully, just like you would with any newly adopted dog. One thing we do know is that someone cared about me before. When I was picked up, I had already been spayed, which means a previous owner made sure I received veterinary care. Since arriving at the rescue, I've received a vaccination booster and I've also been given a microchip, so if I ever wander away again, I'll have a much better chance of finding my way back home. What I'm really searching for isn't anything fancy. I don't need a mansion or endless toys. I just want a family that will love me, help me stay healthy, and make sure I never have to wonder where I belong again. In return, I'll provide loyal companionship, plenty of boxer charm, and all the love a sweet girl like me can give. Could you be the person I've been waiting for? If you'd like to meet me and see if we're a perfect match, please email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I can't wait to meet you. Love, Jazzy ❤️   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt.
