Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Sami: The Toy-Loving, Ball-Chasing Superstar! According to her foster mom, Sami isn’t just a good girl—she’s the best pup she’s ever had! This sweet, smart cookie is nearly potty trained, knows how to sit like a champ, and plays fetch like a pro (yes, she actually brings the ball back!). Sami’s social skills are top-notch: she gets along great with other dogs and gives cats a polite “meh.” Her true passion? TOYS. Plushies, squeakers, tennis balls—you name it, she’s obsessed. If you’re looking for a playful, loving companion who’s ready to steal your heart (and maybe your socks), Sami’s your girl. Due to the high demand for puppies we anticipate multiple applications for each pup. Our volunteers will review each submitted application, then contact the top 3 most appropriate ones by either email or phone. Calling or emailing us to see if you are being considered will not expedite the process. If you have been selected for an interview we will contact you within 48 hours of submission. Thanks for your patience.  You will be required to complete your puppies vaccine series . If you are interested in adopting one of our puppies you will need to complete our online application at www.cvrr.us    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 28, 2026, 2:53 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Justice is one of those dogs who carries a quiet, soulful sweetness everywhere she goes. She has that unmistakable mommy dog energy—affectionate, nurturing, and always checking in to make sure everyone’s okay. Once she trusts you, she melts into love. Personality • Soft, affectionate, and deeply loyal • A little cautious at first, but she’s opening up more every day • Shows hints of playfulness once she feels safe • Slow and thoughtful when exploring new things Home Needs Justice will thrive in a calm, slower-paced home where she can take her time settling in. She does beautifully with other dogs and would especially enjoy a gentle canine companion—maybe even a senior buddy who matches her mellow rhythm. Leash & Lifestyle She’s doing fine on leash and learning the routine. She’s not a high-energy dog; she’s more of a “let’s take it easy and enjoy the moment” type. Story
Meet Kali — a tender-hearted pup with the sweetest soul and the softest eyes 🐶💕. At just 7 months old and around 40 lbs, this little lady is still learning about the world, and she’s doing it with quiet curiosity and a whole lot of love to give. Cali may be a bit shy at first, but her sweetness shines through the moment she feels safe. With a little patience and a lot of cuddles, this girl is going to blossom beautifully. 🌸 Kali is looking for a calm, loving family who can help her build up her courage and show her how wonderful life can be. She’s not the boldest pup in the pack — yet — but she’s full of potential. With each wag of her tail and gentle nuzzle, she shows just how ready she is to love and be loved. She’ll thrive in a home that offers kindness, encouragement, and maybe even a pup buddy to help show her the ropes. 🐾 We’re not exactly sure what breed Kali is — your guess is as good as ours! All we know is that whatever she’s made of, it’s 100% sweetness. Kali will be spayed, is microchipped, and is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. If you’ve got a soft spot for shy pups with big hearts, Cali is more than ready to meet you. 💛

Story
ADOPT LEO Leo’s story didn’t start easy—but we believe his next chapter will be the best one yet. Around 3 years old and likely a Catahoula mix, Leo is a large, athletic boy with the gentlest soul you’ll ever meet. Despite everything he’s been through, he remains incredibly docile and loving with people. Leo came from Kern County Shelter, where he did not receive the kindness every dog deserves. After being rescued, he endured more instability—including being left crated in a van during the scorching summer—before finally landing with someone who saw his worth. When Leo entered the PAWs to Prison program, he was completely shut down. It took his incarcerated handler a full month to earn his initial trust—and two and a half months before Leo fully opened his heart. That bond speaks volumes about his loyalty. In fact, at graduation, Leo was the only dog allowed off leash because he was so trustworthy. He never left his handler’s side. Leo is sensitive and soulful. Raised voices cause him to retreat, not react. If another dog takes his toy, he doesn’t argue—he’ll gently “tell” his person instead. He chooses peace every time. About Leo: Strong & athletic Extremely smart Never aggressive Dog and cat friendly Playful & loves fetch Loves water Walks beautifully on leash Shy at first, but deeply loyal once he trusts Knows an impressive list of commands: Sit • Down • Lay • Stay • Come • Heel • Shake • Rollover • Stand • “Go to bed” • “Get it” • “Get remote” • “Watch me” and more! Leo thrives with calm, patient leadership and will bond deeply with his person. He’s not just looking for a home—he’s looking for someone who will show him the stability and love he’s always deserved. If you’re ready for a loyal, intelligent, gentle companion, Leo is ready for his forever.February 11, 2026, 3:47 pm

Story
Meet Echo Echo’s story started with heartbreak—he was found as a puppy, lost and confused, lying in a gutter. A caring foster reached out for help, and we jumped into action to get him safe. He was adopted quickly, but a few months later he was returned when his family discovered he is deaf. Combined with his happy puppy energy, it was more than they felt prepared for. But here’s the beautiful part of Echo’s story… Echo has since graduated from our PAWs to Prison training program, where he’s been working hard and showing just how smart and capable he truly is. Here’s what his trainer says about him: A big, sweet, lovable goofball Full of enthusiasm and zest for life Best suited for a confident dog companion who can gently “check” his excitement Eager to learn and bond with his person Because Echo is deaf, he communicates through touch and visual cues. His marker is a gentle touch to your lips, and he’s learned: Sit Down Stay Come Shake Touch “Quiet” (stop barking and look at you) Go to / Get on He performs these behaviors with about 85% reliability with his trainer, and he continues improving every day. With consistency and mindful leash handling, Echo absolutely thrives. He’s not a “project” — he’s a dog who wants to connect, learn, and be someone’s boy. He just needs a family willing to embrace his unique way of experiencing the world. Echo is working hard to be the best boy… now he just needs someone willing to see how special he truly is.      February 23, 2026, 4:38 pm

Story
Meet Kingston — a gentle soul with a heart of gold Kingston is a sweet, soft-hearted Pit Bull who’s looking for love, not guard duty. He’s not your tough guy — in fact, you’ll be the one protecting him. Loud noises, fast movements, and busy crowds make him nervous, but with a calm and loving environment, Kingston truly shines &#226&#156&#168 He’s dog-friendly, crate trained, and absolutely adores people. This boy lives for attention and affection. His demeanor is mellow with just the right touch of playfulness — he’s the kind of dog who wants to curl up next to you after a game of fetch in the yard. Kingston recently completed the PAWs to Prison Training Program, where he learned several commands — even though the environment was overwhelming for him. He tried his best every step of the way, showing just how resilient and willing he is to grow when given a chance. Here's what his trainer had to say about Kingston: "Kingston is a mellow, gentle and loving boy who will relax by your side all day long. He is a well-mannered and quiet dog, the perfect stay-at-home friend. Kingston is a timid boy who is fearful of crowds and loud places and doesn't demand a lot of high energy exercise. But he will be an excited wiggle machine when you arrive home at the end of your day. He is a big softie and lover-boy who will want to be by your side. Kingston is crate trained and has learned his basic obedience behaviors including sit, down, stay, come, shake, and go to bed." If you’re looking for a loyal companion to love, comfort, and share your quiet moments with, Kingston is your guy Let’s find this big-hearted boy the gentle home he deserves.January 13, 2026, 4:49 pm
