Story
Goose needs a foster or adopter.   This isn't the update we were hoping to share.   Many of you may remember Goose (formerly Koda), who was saved from euthanasia by heart stick in Arkansas. He spent the last year in a Denkai foster home, where he proved to be a sweet, affectionate boy. He did well with kids, got along with other dogs, loved his people, and was simply an overall good boy.   Like many dogs with difficult pasts, Goose had a few quirks. He was hesitant about walking down hallways, squeezing between parked cars, and exploring new rooms in the house. With patience and reassurance, he continued to build confidence and made great progress.   Goose was finally adopted in February, but unfortunately, it has not been the right match.   His adopter has reported that Goose has become increasingly fearful and unpredictable. He has gone from playing appropriately with the resident dogs to suddenly attacking one without obvious warning. He is reactive toward neighbor dogs, cats, and people from behind the fence (though he has never crossed it), is very fearful of men, and becomes anxious around young children. While Goose used to be content relaxing in his crate, he now becomes anxious and paces when confined. He still loves to snuggle, has no food aggression, and has so many wonderful qualities—but his current home is no longer the right environment for him.   We truly believe Goose's behaviors are rooted in fear and past trauma, not malice. He wants to be brave. We believe that with the right foster or adopter—someone experienced, patient, and willing to help him continue building confidence—Goose has every chance to succeed.   Because of the behaviors he's currently displaying, we're looking for an adult-only home with an experienced adopter or foster. A calm environment and thoughtful introductions to other dogs will be important as we learn more about what Goose needs to thrive.   If you've ever opened your heart to a dog who just needed someone to believe in them, Goose may be waiting for you.   Please help us give this deserving boy another chance.   To foster or adopt Goose, please visit www.denkaisanctuary.org or reach out to us with any questions. Even if you can't take him in, sharing this post could help him find the person he's been waiting for. ##2312979##

Story
Meet Nellie   Nellie is a resilient, loving girl who has overcome more than her fair share of challenges and is ready to find the peaceful retirement home she deserves.   While she was originally estimated to be younger, Nellie appears to be closer to 10 years old—a sweet senior girl looking for a soft place to land and a family to cherish her through her golden years.   Nellie was found on the side of the road in Houston, underweight and suffering from painful wounds. Despite everything she had endured, she never lost her gentle spirit. Since then, she has received the care she desperately needed, including surgery to remove a mass and a much-needed dental procedure. She has healed beautifully and continues to show everyone she meets just how special she is.   Nellie loves people and thrives on affection. She enjoys leisurely walks, relaxing in the sunshine, and spending quiet time with her favorite humans. She is potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is happiest when she can simply be near the people she loves.   As Nellie has settled into foster care, we've learned that she is likely experiencing vision loss and is also managing arthritis pain. Because of these challenges, she has become uncomfortable living with other dogs in the home. While she may have tolerated canine companions in the past, Nellie is telling us that she would be happiest as the only pet, where she can enjoy a predictable environment and receive all the love, care, and attention she deserves.   Nellie isn't asking for much—just a comfortable bed, a gentle routine, and someone to love. After everything she's been through, we'd love nothing more than to see this deserving senior spend her golden years feeling safe, cherished, and finally home.   If you're looking for a loyal companion with a heart of gold, Nellie may be the perfect match.  ##2742752##
