Story
Calvin is our oldest resident here at the shelter, a true gentle soul. He’s an elderly gentleman with a calm spirit and a kind heart. Calvin has a tumor on his belly, and because of his age and medical needs, he’s often been overlooked. But what he wants is simple: a loving home where he can spend the rest of his days feeling safe and cherished. Calvin is wonderfully well-behaved, fully trained, and ready to settle right in. He does great in playgroup with nearly every dog at the shelter. There isn’t a dog he doesn’t like and his easygoing, lovable personality makes him a joy to be around. All Calvin dreams of now is a soft couch, a warm home, and someone to call his own. He’d be the perfect couch potato companion

Story
Meet Jacoby – The Gentle Goober with a Heart of Gold Jacoby is the kind of dog that makes people ask, "How has he not been adopted yet?" At around 2.5 to 3 years old, this lovable, slightly goofy soul is ready to steal your heart with his sweet crooked jaw and even sweeter personality. He’s a big ol’ ham — a medium-energy boy who lives for belly rubs in the sun and sand. Jacoby doesn’t just like attention; he savors it. Plop down next to him, and he’ll happily roll over with a smile on his face and his heart wide open. He adores his people and wants nothing more than to be near his human, soaking in the love and offering endless affection in return. Jacoby is a true gentleman. He takes treats with the gentleness of a lamb, listens to commands like “sit,” “lay down,” and “stay,” and responds lovingly to his foster mom’s nicknames — “Cheese,” “Cheesecake,” or just “Goodest Boy.” Because that’s what he is. He’s also hilariously obsessed with his squeaky toys and stuffies — not to destroy, but to treasure. He proudly carries them around and even shares them with his doggy friends, especially once he’s warmed up. And oh, does Jacoby love his friends! He’s happy playing chase with pups of all shapes and sizes, from tiny 6-pounders to sturdy 70-pounders. The ladies hold a special place in his heart — he’s a total gentleman with the gals, often found lounging under the azalea bushes with his favorite girlfriend by his side. Jacoby thrives on routine and loves mealtime like it’s a sacred ritual. Offer him a frozen blueberry and you’ll see true joy. Whether it’s fruits, veggies, or the sound of dinner being prepared, Jacoby is all in. And while he sometimes forgets just how big he is, his smarts and sweetness shine through every moment. He’s goofy, affectionate, and wonderfully loyal. He gives hugs and kisses freely — all he asks for in return is someone to love him as much as he’ll love you. His foster mom says he’s here to fill a hole in someone’s heart — maybe it’s yours. Jacoby’s not just looking for a home. He’s looking for his person. And once he finds them, there’s no limit to the joy, laughs, and love he’ll bring.

Story
Meet Koa: Professional Cuddler, Amateur Bodybuilder, Owner of the Deepest Bark You’ve Ever Heard Koa was found emaciated and in desperate need of groceries, but somehow he still decided that humans, dogs, cats, kids, and basically every living thing were worthy of his love. We honestly don’t know how he’s this sweet. These days, Koa is focused on two things: gaining weight and collecting cuddles. He’s making excellent progress on both. Koa is potty trained, crate trained, and has impeccable house manners. He’s dog friendly, cat friendly, kid friendly, and “random person I met 3 seconds ago” friendly. If you come to visit, expect to be greeted like a long-lost family member returning from a 10-year voyage at sea. His favorite hobby is cuddling. His second favorite hobby is more cuddling. His third favorite hobby is thinking about cuddling while cuddling. And then there’s the bark. You look at Koa and expect a normal dog bark. What you get is the voice of a 300-pound bouncer who moonlights as a monster truck announcer. The first time you hear it, you’ll look around for the giant dog that surely made that sound. Nope. It’s Koa. He thinks this is hilarious. Despite his rough start, Koa wakes up every day convinced that life is amazing. He’s happy, goofy, affectionate, and grateful for every meal, every toy, and every lap that will have him. If you’ve been searching for an all-around awesome dog who loves everyone, gets along with everything, and comes with a built-in weighted blanket feature, Koa is ready to move in and take over your couch. Fair warning: once Koa curls up next to you and looks at you with those loving eyes, your chances of saying “no” are approximately zero. 🐾 Side effects of adopting Koa may include: excessive smiling, loss of personal space, and constantly asking yourself, “How did this dog not get adopted already?”
