Story
Astro Astro is a male Boxer/ Hound mix DOB: January of 2023 Adoption fee: $175.00 I am a big goof ball and super sweet. I can be gentle when I want to, but watch out for my happy tail, it has a mind of its own. I may have a slight hearing impairment; it has not been fully confirmed at this time. I do a great job following directions, and I love routine. I should do well with another dog in the home, pending a meet and greet. I have not been tested with cats at this time. I will require a physically fenced in yard. I am recommended for children 8+. I will make a fabulous companion for the right situation. If you are interested in being my adopter, please visit my shelter's website and complete the adoption application that is available there! HSSCM.org you can find the applications under the "adoptions" tab.

Needs experienced adopter,
Story
Larry Larry is a male Boxer/Lab/Terrier mix. DOB: April of 2023 Adoption fee: $225.00 I am a Roly Poly puppy. I am short and stocky with a personality to match. I seem to like lots of different people. I am at a stage when I get excited, I urinate a lot. With consistency and confidence in my new owners, I should outgrow this behavior. I have not been around a lot of children. Pending observed interaction with a family, I should do well with children 8 years and older. I may protect my food from other dogs, which is also something which can be worked with. I love playing with other dogs and should match with one in my new home, pending a meet and greet. I have not been tested with cats at this time. I am doing better on a leash, but the shelter is a busy and at times loud place. In a home setting, I will gain more confidence with leash walking. I may learn to potty on leash with lots of time and encouragement. I would love a fenced-in yard and may require it pending your location, previous experience, or other plans for containment. If you are interested in being my adopter, please visit my shelter's website and complete the adoption application that is available there! HSSCM.org you can find the applications under the "adoptions" tab.

Story
Destiny was recently returned to us after not getting along with the resident cat and she is looking for a cat/small animal free home. She would do best in a quiet home, but with someone who is willing to get her some good exercise, as she is still young and very active. Destiny is uncomfortable and nervous with new people when she first meets them, but slowly opens up, and will gently ask for love and attention once she gets to trusting you. She needs someone willing to give her this time, and to keep up with her exercise and training so she can blossom. She is willing to meet a new dog friend, but this introduction too might take some time. She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Destiny fill out an application at al-van.org/adopt.

Story
Starla is a one and a half year old boxer terrier mix. We adopted her at about four months old, from a rescue sponsored by Pet Smart. She is shy of other dogs at first, observant, then eases into play. She gets very excited around new people. She does well with people and kids. Starla is very cuddly, loves lying down on the couch, napping in the sun, and having enough space to get her zoomies out. She is food motivated and loves getting treats. I am looking for a healthy and loving new home for her, as I cannot meet her needs with my work and parenting schedule. She is a very sweet and playful girl, and needs her forever home.

Story
Much like Anakin Skywalker, the force is strong with me. For real....I am a beefcake! Don't worry, I have not gone to the dark side, a lot of my beefcakiness is put to use holding my bed down. But anyone who is foolish enough to underestimate my strength and challenge me to a tug game will get a taste of the true chosen one! I am a fun-loving good boy; but it is fair to say there is a bit of puppy escapade inside me at times. Practicing the righteous ways of the Jedi has been an amazing pastime for me to keep me on the light side. I love going for walks through the galaxy (really, it's been the scenic grounds at MAS, but a guy can dream right?). With continued Padawan training from an Obi-Wan Kenobi of my own, we can harness the force to positive outlets for me! Which honestly, I am so treat and reward motivated that with consistency, I am sure I could be a Jedi in no time! I am a fairly sociable guy, I have made some canine friends here at MAS, and when I met a cat I was more interested in playing with my rope toy than befriending it. "The biggest problem in the universe is no one helps each other." - Anakin (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace) If you would like to help Anakin by giving him a forever home, submit your adoption application to the website below! DOB: 3/2/2022 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.
