Story
Meet Penny, an amazing, sweet, and funny girl who has so much heart to share. This lovely senior pup is a true little trooper, and she still enjoys getting out to explore the world around her. Whether she’s strolling along a trail or simply taking in all the good smells, Penny approaches life with a gentle curiosity that’s so special to see. While she does have some arthritis, light walks are not only manageable for her, they’re something she genuinely enjoys. Spending time with Penny feels both peaceful and rewarding. She has a calm, easygoing presence that makes every moment together feel just a little bit softer and sweeter. Penny also has a playful side, especially when treats are involved! She absolutely loves working on a doggy puzzle or snuffle mat, and it’s such a joy to watch her engage and have fun. Her adorable, slightly clownish smile adds even more charm to her already lovable personality, and it feels like there’s still so much of her sweet spirit left to discover. Penny would love a quiet, cozy home where she can relax, feel comfortable, and share her days with someone who appreciates the gentle pace of life. She’s ready to be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal, loving friend. ##2693724##

Story
Farley Farley is a Male Boxer mix DOB: November of 2025 Adoption fee: $200 Who doesn’t need some wiggles in their life. If you know Boxers, then you know about the wiggle butt and that’s what I have! I wiggle while I eat, and I wiggle with a toy in my mouth, I wiggle when I walk. (I do have a full tail). I am a little bashful and need a little confidence building. In a home with consistency in my routine and training, I should gain the confidence I need to be the best friend you’ve ever had. Pending observed interaction, I should do well with children 8 years and older. Pending a meet and greet, I may match with another dog. I have not been tested with a cat, but if properly introduced to cats, I adapt fine. I have not been on a leash at this time and would do my best with a physically fenced yard. I may require it pending your previous experience, location or other plans for containment. I am a very nice pup with lots of potential. I just need a family to help reach that potential.

Story
Button, our 1-year-old boxer mix, is jumping for joy in anticipation of his forever home! We joke that he is part kangaroo, but outside his kennel he’s the calmest little guy there is. He would need a home where he is the only dog. He has such a gentle spirit, and that shines through when he takes treats. His favorite place to be is next to someone — truly the definition of man’s best friend. He enjoys walks and has the drive to learn more commands! He also lets us humans squish his face, but how could you not? After all, he is as cute as a button!

Story
Name: Kings of Leon Breed Guess: Pit Mix Age: 4 years old Gender: Neutered Male Weight: 60 pounds Children: 10+ Dogs: Yes, Meet and Greet Required Cats: Will test upon request Adoption fee: $250 Hi, I’m Kings of Leon! I’m a fun-loving, energetic pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Whether it’s exploring new trails, chasing after balls, or splashing around in the water, I’m always up for an adventure! Yep, you heard that right, I love to swim, and I’m also great for baths, which makes post-adventure clean-up a breeze. I already know my basic commands and love showing off my smarts (especially if treats are involved). I do still need to learn not to be as mouthy and jumpy with people. After a day of play and exploring, I’m more than happy to crash on the couch and soak up some quality cuddle time. I’d be a great match for an active family or someone who enjoys the outdoors as much as I do. I get along wonderfully with playful dogs of all sizes and would love a buddy to romp around with. I've been at the ARP since 3/16/25 and am currently at the shelter. The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
