Nougat
Rescue can be soul-crushing. Nougat and her mom and siblings were brought to us barely clinging to life. It took us MONTHS of 24-hour care, multiple shifts and sleepless days and nights to save the ones we could. We were VERY picky with our adoptive homes and VERY clear on the care these babies needed to help them grow into amazing and well-behaved dogs. (You can see our original guidelines below.)
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts and years of experience, we too can be fooled. We thought Nougat had a great home with a great family... Until that family did not fulfill any of the adoption requirements, never reached out to us for help, and abandoned this poor girl at a shelter while lying about her personality. They told the shelter that she is blind, deaf and aggressive. Let me be clear: NOUGAT CAN HEAR, SEE AND LOVES EVERYONE: PEOPLE AND DOGS ALIKE.
We don't know why they would lie. Maybe they don't understand the danger of the euthanasia that places on the dog. Maybe they don't care if she lives or not. Maybe they did it to make them feel better about their decision - but again, Boxers and Buddies takes back ANY dog we have placed, no questions asked.
Nougat is safe and back at Boxers and Buddies and this time looking for the perfect home. She has absolutely earned it.
Here is the funny thing. This was our ORIGINAL description of Nougat:
Who's ready to PARTY?! This social butterfly is looking for whatever "being" is having the most fun whether it be dog, pup, human, bird or butterfly. That's not to say she's always running - she needs her love and snuggles too!
She loves to fall asleep in your lap (which is cool as a pup but this pup is going to get BIG!) She is always smiling and will have you smiling right along with her!
Then: Our 6 beautiful white Dogo Argentino (Argentinian Mastiff) puppies are healthy and thriving! Time to start accepting applications for their forever families!
These beautiful babies had a horrible start to their young lives: born in a neglectful and uncaring shelter that watched as puppies died and their mom get so sick she was unable to care for them. A 10 hour car trip to safety, only to have another puppy lose his fight within an hour of arriving, flea infestation, upper respiratory infections, pneumonia claimed yet another sibling.
These puppies are fighters. They are survivors and they are ready to be loved and cared for the rest of their days
There were a couple weeks of touch and go and several puppies wouldn't have survived without our help. All of the puppies have been well socialized, handled and exposed to different people, places, surfaces and sounds. Attending approved puppy training classes are a non-negotiable requirement with adoption. These puppies have had a horrible start to their lives and barely survived. We are a little over protective of these puppies and they deserve to be blessed for the rest of their lives. That means 10-15 years of stability, training, love, attention, and vet care.

Our adoption requirements are:
We only adopt pets within 4 hours of Reno
You must be 21 years of age
All current pets in the household MUST be spayed/neutered and current on shots (yes, we do call and verify this information)
We do not place female boxers with other female dogs
Attendance at a professionally run obedience course is a requirement of adoption!
We do not adopt out dogs as gifts
