Poppy is a sweet dog but I had to leave a domestic violence situation which meant moving into an apartment and taking a job where I work 10-12 hours a day. She’s so unhappy not getting out and not getting attention. She’s very anxious all the time. She became scared of other dogs. She’s extremely bored. She needs love and affection and sadly, I can’t do that anymore.

I would like to start by saying that it breaks my heart that we have decided Rueben needs to find a better forever home! He is quite possibly the most loving and snuggly dog I have ever met. We adopted him from the Reno Humane Society on 11/01/22. He was a stray that was turned in, so he had no training whatsoever. It took him a few weeks to really settle in with our other dog and learn the ropes, but they get along wonderfully now! He has been such a quick learner and is so willing to please, positive reinforcement training works really well with him! So here is the catch- we live on a couple acres with chickens and horses and have two indoor cats. While Rueben doesn't have a single mean bone in his body his prey drive has been something we are very much struggling with. He is generally very docile and laid back, but LOVES to chase and can become overstimulated. This bio only allows so many words, but I have so much more to say about this sweet boy. Meet Saphy! This gorgeous lady has stolen our hearts with her big, beautiful smile, jubilant character, and sunny disposition. She is truly a joy and a pleasure to be around. Saphy’s personality is very much that of a lab. She’s enthusiastic about absolutely everything! She is full of energy, play, and get up and go. She has no idea how big she actually is so everything she does seems exaggerated by her happy energy. Saphy will need to go to an active home with a big yard and a person or family that makes their dog part of the pack. She will require regular exercise and would love to have a puppy pal to rough house with as well. We aren’t entirely sure of her breed, so our best guess is as good as yours. She behaves like a lab and may have a little pittie or dane thrown in there too. She’s a very big girl so there are likely a few other breeds mixes she could be as well. This gorgeous girl is an absolute gem! She is a beautiful happy soul that loves adventure, play, and affection. As you can see from her pictures, she has a big personality. She is enthusiastic, silly, playful, fun, and always entertaining. She is excellent with other dogs and loves to be where the action is… She can do rough and tumble play with the best of them and is a joy to watch galloping around the yard! Despite her get up and go personality, Ella is also a real snuggle bug and adores affection and attention from her people. Don't be surprised to find a head in your lap asking for an ear rub or two! We do not know what Ella's actual breed is, but those ears make us wonder if there’s shepherd or hound mixed in. Ultimately, our best guess is as good as yours. We have no doubt that whatever breed she is, she’s one of the happiest pups on earth! Ella is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. We estimate her birthday to be around July 2021. Look at this face!! Mercury is a big-headed, big-hearted soul who was dumped and turned into a high-kill shelter in CA. He was so sad in the shelter, but has brightened up considerably since he was brought to WARF. He is timid but warms up fast, turning into the biggest love bug in the world. Mercury is house-trained and well-mannered; he really would love life as a couch potato! He is playful but only at appropriate times. He rides well in the car and is a clean, quiet, big-hearted soul who just needs the chance to steal your heart. Guess at age is somewhere between two and four. A quiet environment would be best. Zora is a spunky young female boxer. She came into rescue from a local shelter, and before that she lived her entire life in a fenced yard with her littermate. Zora is very playful and exuberant, and loves all kinds of toys. But the thing she loves most is being petted and snuggling with her dog brothers and foster humans. She is completely housetrained, rides perfectly in the car, and walks well on leash with no pulling (see below for exceptions). Zora is working on her house manners and crate training but is extremely bright and learns quickly. Because she wasn't exposed to other dogs and new people, she is reactive to both. However, she can be redirected using treats and responds well to praise. Zora would do best with a well-adjusted/socialized male dog. She loves rough housing with the foster family's 80lb American Bully mix, and is fine with their older male Pug (Zora is somewhat more interested in playing with him than he is in playing with her 🙂). The foster family doesn't have any cats or smaller pets, but Zora has shown some prey drive when on hikes. This indicated that she may not be ok with smaller pets, birds, or cats. Dog-savvy, respectful older children may be ok. Boxer experience (specifically female/puppy) highly recommended. Well-adjusted/socialized male dog of similar size required. Zora will require obedience/behavior training to address her reactivity as specified in the adoption contract. Twinkle Twinkle is a shining star! She came to Boxers and Buddies a complete mess! She was missing 70% of her fur, itchy, covered in wounds and scabs. A mix of allergy medication, limited ingredient food and medicated baths have started to turn Twinkle around. She is a wonderful little girl. She is good with people, cats and other dogs.
