Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet this handsome senior fella named Vegas! He was surrendered over to the shelter by his owner on January 6, 2023 because he was getting nippy. He is 10 years old, current on shots, already neutered, and deserving of a wonderful life to enjoy his “golden years” being a loved and pampered pup in a home. Don’t let his age deceive you…he has a lot of pep in his strep. When he gets excited he gets the zoomies (just like a puppy) and that is when he can get nippy. Just being playful. While on the leash for a walk he walks perfectly. Owner said he needs a home without other dogs and no cats. Since he can get a little over excited and can be a little nippy (in a playful way) would be best in a home without children. He’s handsome and sweet and with the right person he will thrive and make someone a sweet pup! Visit with Vegas today and adopt him into your heart and home! If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. No need to shuffle the animals around any more than necessary. Please know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and they can be fatal if not treated. It is VERY important to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. These animals are counting on you as their owner to provide them with lots a love and the proper health care so PLEASE make sure you are aware and prepared before adopting. Owning a pet is an extra expense and responsibility but is so worth every minute and penny you invest in them. They will add lots of joy and unconditional love if given a fair chance. The shelter is open Mon.-Fri. 10-1, 2-5, Sat. 10-4. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life. If you can not adopt right now come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER home. In order to adopt any of our "bully breeds" there is special paper work that will need to be collected and approved prior to the adoption. We love all of our dogs and want to make sure to place our "bully babies" in homes best suited for them.

Story
River has come a long way with trusting and loving people. River has been at the shelter for 3 years.. patiently waiting for a family. He is such a sweet boy and is pretty perfect. He is potty trained and leash trained. From time to time, he gets a little nervous about the cars that pass him, and just needs a moment to relax. He would do best in a home with no other dogs. River loves to run around the play yard and look for an adventure. He is a huge toy hog and will steal treats. this handsome boy would love a couch to sleep on.Please visit our website, www.colonialcapitalhs.org to fill out an application today!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
02/15/2023 Becca is not at our shelter. Please use contact information below. I’m hoping to re-home my father-in-law's dog. He has recently become ill and cannot care for her anymore. She is currently living with my husband and me. However, we have two dogs of our own and while they have mostly adjusted, we are not looking to keep a third dog. Also, she and one of our current dogs don’t seem to get along the best. We can keep her in a “foster” situation until she can find a new home, but are not looking to keep her long term. We are hoping y’all may be able to help us. This is Becca! She is in good health. We have recently gotten her a full check up with our vet, including x-rays. She is 11 years old and is a boxer mix. We believe she would be best in a home with no kids. No issues, just our opinion. If you might be interested, please email me (Jonie) at joniegoulet@gmail.com Thank you.

Story
Skye is a female pittie mix and estimated around 2 years old. She is a super sweet girl! She LOVES toys and loves to play and loves all the attention she can get. Warm blankets are her favorite followed closely by treats. Sadly her past is not the best as she lived outdoors on a chain, but she's done so well adjusting to house life. She has been around other dogs and done well. Do you have a spot for this sweet girl in your home? Skye did test positive for heartworms and had her first injection.Adoption Application can be found at www.adoptionfirstanimalrescue.com

Story
I had the misfortune of being born a pit mix. I wish I was a golden retriever, a shih tzu or a fuzzy dog. Everyone likes those... and there are no breed restrictions on dogs like that...But, since I was born a pit mix, I will be one of the millions of pits in the U.S. that sit in a shelter and hopes to be adopted and get to sleep in a bed and feel carpet again. The staff here have been very nice and did my vaccines and found out that I have heartworm disease. Good thing a non-profit in the area will pay for my treatment if I get chosen. I will get neutered then, too. I did well with my dog test, but I cannot live with cats or small dogs.If you are interested in meeting me, please call 910-937-1164.
