Raven is a very sweet and a little shy at first.  She gets along great with other dogs and would be good with calm kids.  She is young and energetic so will need daily exercise.   Some of our dogs are adopted very quickly.  If you are truly interested in a dog fill out an application ASAP.  If you take the time to email a question someone will already be ahead of you with a completed application.  You can find all the information we have about a particular cat/dog at the link below as well.  Then click the adopt button to fill out an application. To be pre approved fill out an application at the link below.  You are welcome to come in anytime we are open to meet the cats and dogs.  If you are preapproved you can adopt on the same day.  We are open Monday-Saturday 1-4.  Closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  https://arfok.org/pages/adoption Adoption fee is $150 for all dogs over 6 months old, $200 for large breed puppies under 6 months, $250 for small breed puppies and some pure breed dogs.  All adoptions include, spay/neuter, vaccines, a heartworm test, and a free 1 year membership to our 5 acre ARF Park.  For other dog questions please email ARFdogs74006@gmail.com We do adopt out of state, but the adopter must travel to ARF to meet the dog they are looking to adopt.  They must have an approved application before traveling to meet the dog.  We do allow small dogs that are eligible to fly in the cabin of a plane.  We DO NOT allow dogs to travel in the cargo area of the plane under any circumstances.  Any dog that is adopted can of course go by personal vehicle.  We do not allow dogs to be transported "pony express style" where they are passed from driver to driver.   ##2671306##

Qira is a senior boxer mix, almost 10 years old, and she has spent most of her life — about seven years — growing up in a shelter. Because of that, she isn’t a dog who gives her heart to everyone right away… but when she chooses you, she chooses you completely.Qira bonds slowly and thoughtfully. She is selective with new people and needs time to feel safe, especially with strangers. Once trust is built, though, she is deeply affectionate and devoted. When she loves you, she wants to be close — lying quietly beside you, checking in often, and occasionally nudging under your arm to politely demand attention.Despite her age, Qira still has joyful puppy moments. She loves the snow, runs and plays outside, and will happily chase shadows (possibly thanks to being blind in one eye). On playful days, she’ll even chase your shadow if you move around with her. When you sit on the floor, she’ll confidently plop herself into your lap — even though she is very much not a lap-sized dog.Qira shows affection in tender, meaningful ways: resting her forehead against yours, offering the occasional gentle “kiss,” and choosing to stay close rather than roam. Hey, Theo here. So now that I've been here awhile, I thought I would give an update. I've learned a lot about myself and I've been reflecting. I've learned that I'm pretty smart. One night, I figured out how to open my kennel door. Boy was I surprised!! I had the freedom to explore the whole place by myself. I didn't destroy not one thing! I peed on a few things, but....I didn't break anything, lol. I like to play keep away with the humans. I think it's so funny for them to chase me. I'm sassy like that. But I'm also a guy that needs hugs. I love getting pets and belly rubs. It makes me feel special to get that one on one time with the humans. Anywho, I hope that someone finds me cute. Even though sometimes, I'm annoying.
