Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.    *Due to rescuer being very ill, all her dogs are in desperate need!!! Greetings! My name is Poe! My best friend, Fluffy & I were allowed to wander the streets. Our owner just didn't care. Fluffy was pregnant at the time. Our rescuer begged for her to be able to come into rescue. So, our owner dumped Fluffy and unexpectedly and luckily dumped me too! Fluffy was so lucky and has found her new home. I'm looking for mine. I am absolutely adorable with the cutest underbite that makes me look like I am forever smiling.. I am about seven years old and thirty-five pounds. I am the friendliest guy and am exceptionally loving! I adore people and other doggies. I do love children! I enjoy adventures and would follow you to the ends of the earth. All you have to do is make me yours! Love,Poe *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you can't get it to work, tell us and we will email it to you.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. August 12, 2026, 4:33 am

Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi! I REALLY hope that you can help me out. My name is Sergie. I'm a young man that is about 13 months old and that is about 40 to 45lbs. So, this is where you come in. I'm an active boy that would LOVE an active family. Someone that likes going out for a good run would be right up my alley. I would also enjoy having a doggie friend to play with in a good secured fenced in yard. I'm a loving boy that would be all about hanging out with my family or going on activities with them. I love people and other doggies but I haven't been around kitties. So, I don't know about that. I am crate trained too. My current home isn't very active, so I get board and chew things. If I have other things to do, I'd probably be much better about that and some correction of my behavior would go a long way. I get put in the back yard sometimes and it's just a decorative fence, so again, I get board and I leave because I can. Now, I'm being boarded at a vet's office and I'm in a crate most of the time. This is torture! Well, I'm looking for that active family that will love me for the awesome boy that I am. I hope that you are looking for me. Love,Sergie *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. Maliboo is a medium/large (50 lbs), five year old, Boxer/Staffordshire mix. Maliboo has been placed and returned and abandoned by many different people in his lifetime and has suffered deeply because of it. He is now finally back on his feet and feeling better with his fosters and ready to finally be placed with his perfect people. He has a very hard time trusting other dogs and should be the only pet in the house because of the unfortunate situations he has been put in. Being left alone with other dogs that are not dog-friendly has traumatized him. He has a very low prey drive and while he loves to zoom around when he gets excited, he will not be chasing anyone’s cat! Maliboo would do best in a home with older children. He has picked up some peculiar behaviors in all the interesting situations he’s been in, including being very vocal when he feels a little zoomey! He grunts and howls and talks and gallops all over the place! Seeing him express himself in silly ways has been such a relief for his fosters after seeing him depressed for so long. We would love to see him loved and happy in his new home. *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830.
