Story
Hi from Asher!!  This big guy has been here way too long.  Asher was surrendered to us on 10/5/2021. Asher is an amazing dog. He's still here because he needs to be an only pet.  He's about 5 years old and is an athletic 67 pounds.  He loves to play with a ball and does it all day, although we do think a lot of that is the stress of being in a kennel for so long.   Asher is a really great dog who will make a perfect companion for someone - who doesn't have any other pets. He's loyal and affectionate, you just can't take him to the dog park.  If you want to meet him, please call 828-837-2304.    He's a great dog!November 20, 2023, 6:59 am

Story
We are looking for fosters or foster-to-adopt for one or both of these big beautiful boys...Maxx and Blue. They came from a difficult situation and are both high heartworm positive. Their owners are currently homeless and do not have a safe place to keep them. They are both very sweet boys who deserve a second chance to live the life they deserve. All medical costs will be covered by AC ARF, as well as for neutering both once they are cleared for surgery. Many thanks to our partnership with Humane Society, Tennessee Valley and to Norris Animal Hospital, where they are currently being boarded until we find foster homes for them to continue their healing journey. They wouldn’t be alive today if not for them. So besides being homeless, these special needs dogs need to live in a home environment for their heart worm treatment, which will take 6 months. Fortunately, no injections are required in their treatment protocol, so all can be done painlessly at home. Most dogs enjoy eating their chewy heartworm treatment/preventative as the medication is incorporated into a very tasty treat. And this dynamic duo will each be bolting down two of these treats every month! That’s where they need your help. They each need to be living in a home. They can be separated and go to different homes, so they do not need to be fostered/adopted together. All expenses will be covered, and any supplies needed will be provided. They are both adult dogs. 4 year old Maxx (first picture) is the largest, and weighing 75-80 pounds, there is plenty to love in this big brown boxer/shepherd mix. 6 year old Blue, is also as sweet as cotton candy and with plenty of energy, and weighing 60 pounds, is a tan/white Bulldog/pit terrier mix. They are sweet love bugs and good with children. They just want to be loved. Don’t we all deserve that? If you’d like more information about these dogs, or partner with us as a foster to ensure these dogs have a healthy future, please message Anderson County Animal Rescue Foundation or call Katrina at 865-414-2491.

*ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED*Mocha the female boxer mix Age: Around 3 years oldWhy I'm a 10/10: I really love my time in the yard playing with people and dogs. I’m on the larger side, though, and would probably do best with older children or adults only in my new home. I love my people well, so if you’re looking for a BFF, I’m your girl. Quirks or Fun Facts: I have these super sad eyes, but I can’t help it. Mine are deceiving because I’m happy all the time and love to hang out with the volunteers! To learn more about me, call/text Al at 865-221-5767 or Lisa at 865-310-2599 or you can apply online at www.maarcadopt.org/adopt.

Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  *Due to rescuer being very ill, all her dogs are in desperate need!!!   Kallie is a six year old, large boxer/Shar Pei mix that is desperate for a family to love. She loves the company of other dogs but sadly, cannot be left alone with them because things from her unfortunate past trigger a fight or flight response towards other dogs. She would be very happy to be your one and only furry love. She is absolutely amazing with all people and has great manners, keeping “4 paws on the floor” and sitting patiently for snacks! Because of her mature demeanor, we think Kallie would do best in a home that is mildly active. She loves to roll around and lay out on the couch but also enjoys walks with her favorite people! *Guest Posting**Due to Kallie's 'fight or flight' response towards other dogs, small children are not advised   If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you can't get it to work, tell us and we will email it to you. Adoption fee $150ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. November 29, 2023, 12:23 pm

Maliboo is a medium/large (50 lbs), five year old, Boxer/Staffordshire mix. Maliboo has been placed and returned and abandoned by many different people in his lifetime and has suffered deeply because of it. He is now finally back on his feet and feeling better with his fosters and ready to finally be placed with his perfect people. He has a very hard time trusting other dogs and should be the only pet in the house because of the unfortunate situations he has been put in. Being left alone with other dogs that are not dog-friendly has traumatized him. He has a very low prey drive and while he loves to zoom around when he gets excited, he will not be chasing anyone’s cat! Maliboo would do best in a home with older children. He has picked up some peculiar behaviors in all the interesting situations he’s been in, including being very vocal when he feels a little zoomey! He grunts and howls and talks and gallops all over the place! Seeing him express himself in silly ways has been such a relief for his fosters after seeing him depressed for so long. We would love to see him loved and happy in his new home. *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830.
