Story
Are you looking for a pup who’s equal parts spunky and snuggly? Meet Bertie—an adorable little lady who approaches life with boundless enthusiasm and just the right amount of goofball energy. 🐾💕 Bertie is very toy-motivated (her motto might as well be “will work for squeakers”) and will do just about anything for a little praise. But when the zoomies are over, nothing beats curling up for snuggles with her humans. To her, it’s the “bestest” thing in the whole wide world. 🥰 She’s got pep, charm, and enough love to fill your home and your heart. Bertie also adores chasing squirrels and birds (as one does), and playing with other pups—so if you’ve got a doggy buddy for her, even better! Bertie would absolutely love a fenced backyard where she can safely chase her imaginary squirrels and soak up the sunshine. ☀️🐿️ If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, adventure-loving cuddle bug with a heart of gold, Bertie is your girl. Adopt her today—because the only thing she’s missing is you. 💛 Adopters have 30 days of free access to 1-on-1 text and email support from trainers at Petcademy to help make every pet's transition into their new home as smooth as possible. All dogs available for adoption have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and are current on all vaccinations. Please email dogs@henricohumane.org for more information.

Approximate Weight: 74 lbs Meet Onyx, a beautiful, intelligent boxer who thrives in a calm, structured home with humans who understand her need for security and routine. She is deeply loyal, people-oriented, and bonds closely with her humans. Once she feels safe, she is affectionate, goofy, and loves being part of daily life. Onyx enjoys walks, playing with toys in the yard, cuddling with her humans, and having a predictable environment. She is housebroken and knows basic commands. She does best when she has clear boundaries and a calm handler. She is incredibly affectionate with her people and thrives when she gets consistent activity and attention. Story
I adopted her from the Fredericksburg SPCA about two years ago. She is three years old. She is very lovable and protective over her people, She would be best in a home without any other animals. She will adjust with other animals it just takes a bit of work, I hate to have to give her away I love her so much she is an amazing dog, but due to unfortunate circumstances the place I had for her to go fell through, and I’m in the process of enlisting in Air Force and can be called to ship out any day.

Story
Fran is a sweet and bubbly Boxer mix who lives for treat time! If you love hanging out in the kitchen, she’ll be right by your side, ever hopeful that any bag you grab holds snacks. Her excitement is contagious — though she’s still learning to sit patiently for treats! This gentle girl is slowly coming out of her shell and learning to enjoy cozy time with her dog friends. She’s incredibly submissive and hasn’t met a pup she doesn’t like. When feeling overwhelmed, Fran simply retreats to her safe spot — often her bed or the kitchen. Walks can be a bit scary at first, but once she gets going, she really shines. She’s working on potty training and improving every day. Fran would thrive in a calm home with older kids and, ideally, another dog to help guide her. She came to us unsure of the world, but with love and patience, she’s blossoming into the sweetest companion. Fran is proof that a little kindness goes a long way.
