🍝 **Meet Freddy Spaghetti!** 🍝 If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate dog with a goofy personality and a heart full of love, Freddy Spaghetti is ready to meet you! At around **1–2 years old**, Freddy is the perfect mix of playful and easygoing. He starts every outing with a burst of happy energy, then settles into a relaxed walk, making him a wonderful companion for adventures big and small. ❤️ Freddy is a true people dog who loves making new friends. Whether it's belly rubs, ear scratches, or simply spending time together, he's happiest when he's with his favorite humans. 🐾 Freddy is scheduled to be neutered and brought up to date on his vaccinations. 🐱 He has previously lived with a cat and did well. We'd also be happy to cat-test him again if needed. 🐶 Freddy enjoyed meeting our dog-testing superstar, Tina Turner, and quickly showed off his playful, goofy side! He can be selective with male dogs, so he may be happiest with a female canine companion. If you already have a dog, we're always happy to arrange a meet-and-greet. 🍽️ Freddy is an enthusiastic eater, so a slow-feeder bowl would be a great addition to help make mealtimes last a little longer. 🚶 He's a pleasure to walk and enjoys exploring with his people. He's especially excited to greet anyone who wants to say hello—making friends is one of his favorite hobbies! Freddy is ready to find an active, loving family who will appreciate his sweet nature, playful spirit, and endless enthusiasm for life. 💜 If you're looking for a loyal companion who will keep you smiling, come meet Freddy Spaghetti. He just might be the perfect addition to your family!

Story
Sherbet has worked out what sit gets him, and now he does not wait to be asked. You walk up, he plants himself, and he looks at you like he has just solved something. He is a two year old boxer and pit bull mix, 65 pounds, and he came to us in January after spending most of his life on a chain. He arrived underweight and scarred up from fly strike. None of that seems to have stuck to him. He still greets every person who comes down the aisle like they are the one he has been waiting for. What he loves most is room to run. Turn him out and he uses every inch of the yard, and once he has burned it off he comes and leans on you for as long as you will let him. He learns fast. He picked up sit in a matter of days and now offers it on his own. He is bright, he wants to be with people, and he is young enough that most of who he turns into is still up to whoever takes him. A few honest things before you apply. Sherbet has never lived indoors. House training, stairs and doors and furniture, and learning how to be alone in a house are all still ahead of him, and the first few months will take a real routine and real work. He gets bouncy when he is excited, though he is gentle about it and he takes guidance well. He is strong and he has energy to spend, so he needs someone who will meet that every day. He is neutered and microchipped. He does well with other dogs with a proper introduction. He has not been around children since he arrived, so we cannot tell you how he would do living with them. Sherbet has been waiting since January, and he is ready whenever you are. We prefer to schedule appointments for meet and greets to make sure someone is available to spend time with you. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 12pm to 4pm, and appointments outside of those hours may be available based on volunteer availability. Email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com to set up a visit or learn more today.

👑💦 XENA HAS BEEN WAITING LONG ENOUGH. LET’S GET THIS GIRL HOME! 🐾💛 Xena is a 3–4 year old, 45-pound brindle-and-white Boxer/Pittie mix—and she is one of our volunteer favorites. The problem? Somehow, this incredible girl keeps getting overlooked. 🥹 Xena LOVES people. Seriously, if you have a treat and are willing to give her a little affection, congratulations—you’re her new best friend. 😂💕 And this girl is READY FOR ADVENTURE: 🚗 Rides beautifully in the car — road trip buddy? Absolutely! 💦 Loves water — puddles, kiddie pools, river walks… she’s ALL IN! 🐾 Fantastic on leash — she happily matches her person's pace 🏃‍♀️ Slow stroll? Sure. Jog? Let’s GO! 🌱 Favorite activity: rolling around in the grass — pure happiness 💛 Friendly, affectionate & full of personality Xena can walk alongside other dogs just fine, but she’d really prefer to be the queen of her own castle and would do best as the only dog in the home. 👑 She has patiently watched other dogs come and go while waiting for someone to choose her. And we just can’t understand how she’s still waiting. Xena is ready to be someone's adventure buddy, road-trip copilot, puddle-plowing partner, and absolute best friend. 🥹💛 Could her forever be right around the corner? 📍 Come meet Xena at Hopewell Animal Services! 🐾

🤎🖤 CRYSTAL WANTS TO BE YOUR NUMBER ONE. 🐾✨ Crystal is a 3–4 year old, 55-pound caramel Boxer/Pittie mix with a stunning black muzzle—and eyes that will absolutely melt you. 🥹 Crystal isn’t the kind of girl who immediately rolls over and says, “Belly rubs, please!” 😂 She likes to take a little time to decide you’re her person. But put in the effort to earn her trust? You’ll be rewarded. Big time. ❤️ Once Crystal connects with you, she is ALL about her person. On walks, she’s constantly checking in, making eye contact with those gorgeous eyes—and sometimes even batting them at you like she’s flirting. 👀💕 You can practically hear her saying, “I’m so glad I’m with you.” ✨ Focused & responsive to her person 🧠 Smart and VERY treat motivated 👀 Loves checking in and making eye contact 💕 Enjoys pets & brushing 🛁 Surprisingly enjoys bath time! 🐾 Sweet, affectionate & eager to please 😏 Has a little sass and silliness when she gets fired up—but responds well to guidance And Crystal has a sit-and-stare-for-the-treat routine that is pretty spectacular. She’ll patiently watch your every move, waiting for direction… while possibly calculating exactly how many treats she can convince you to hand over. 😂 Crystal would do best in an adult-only home or a home with older children where her people understand that trust is something you build—and once you have hers, it’s pretty special. She may make you work a little harder for her heart. But once she decides you're her person? You’ll know it. And so will she. 🤎🐾 Come meet Crystal at Hopewell Animal Services!

Story
Meet Hope — a beautiful Boxer girl who has already overcome so much and is finally ready for the happy ending she deserves. ❤️Hope is a 7-year-old purebred Boxer, but please don’t let that number fool you. This girl has the heart, energy, and playful spirit of a much younger Boxer. She bounces, prances, dances, and barrels through life with a zest that is impossible not to smile at. She is the kind of dog whose happiness is contagious.Hope came to Critter Cavalry Rescue during a heartbreaking time. Her beloved owner became critically ill and was ultimately unable to care for her, and when Hope came into rescue, she weighed only 35 pounds and was painfully underweight. Her owner’s greatest wish was that she would be given the best life possible, and that is exactly the promise we made to him.Today, Hope is a healthy 46 pounds and absolutely thriving in her foster home. She is currently living with several other Boxers and has fit right in as though she has always been part of the crew. She is wonderfully social and genuinely enjoys making friends. Dogs, children, adults — if you are willing to be her friend, Hope is ready to love you!Hope is also a very good girl in the house. She is completely potty trained, knows her basic commands, and is so well mannered that she does not need to be crated when left home alone. She is easygoing, affectionate, and responds well to gentle guidance. But what really makes Hope special is her spirit. She has been through a major life change, yet she has come through it with her joyful personality completely intact. She still believes the world is a wonderful place and that every day is an opportunity to play, explore, and love someone new.Hope would love an active Boxer-loving family who will give her plenty of playtime, attention, and opportunities to enjoy life. Another dog who appreciates a playful companion would be wonderful, especially one who doesn’t mind her endless Boxer enthusiasm!Hope has spent enough time waiting for her tomorrow. Now she needs the forever family who will give her the bright future her name promises. She is fully vetted, microchipped, thriving, and ready to make the next chapter of her life the very best one yet.If you think Hope could be the joyful, energetic Boxer girl your family has been waiting for, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 14, 2026, 3:27 pm

Story
Ruthie is a 2-year-old, 60-lb Boxer mix with a gentle soul and a brilliant mind. Before coming into rescue, Ruthie lived on her own for at least 6 months, skillfully evading capture, multiple trapping attempts, and surviving in an industrial area of town. Fed by kind mechanics and workers, she learned how to stay safe, avoid danger, and always show up for food — and that intelligence still shines through today. After a dramatic capture, Ruthie has been in a foster home, where she’s proven to be a very polite houseguest. She is fully house-trained and, even at her scariest moments, has never shown a hint of aggression — no growling, no raised lips, just fear. Ruthie is shy and deeply cautious with people, but she is sweet, gentle, and incredibly observant. We would not be surprised if Ruthie spent some of her life in someone’s home.  This brainy girl reads the room like a pro. She knows when a human might approach and will quietly skedaddle to keep herself feeling safe. While she’s still very nervous about leashes and handling, she allows most people to gently scratch her muzzle, and she’s learning — slowly but surely — that human touch isn’t such a bad thing. Watching her progress has been incredibly rewarding, especially as she’s started to enjoy ear scratches and soft affection from her foster mom. Ruthie is a great pack dog. She does beautifully with dogs of all sizes and temperaments and enjoys playful wrestling with dogs her size, but doesn’t demand play.  She happily coexists with the resident Chihuahua in her foster home. Ruthie is calm and content indoors and also enjoys a daily visit to the dog park. She’s a quiet presence who’s perfectly happy lounging on a chair, listening to her foster mom’s Zoom calls, and soaking in the safety of home life. At home, Ruthie is her foster mom’s quiet shadow. She sleeps in her room, wiggles with excitement when she comes home, follows her around the dog park — and yet may still hop off her bed and slip away if that same foster mom walks toward her for a pet. With Ruthie, trust is built in tiny, meaningful moments, and every day brings progress. Because of her history, Ruthie is a high flight-risk dog, especially in the early days. She will need a very committed adopter with a securely fenced yard, experience with fearful or flight-risk dogs, and a willingness to use safety tools like GPS collars, double leashes, and secure handling. Strength matters too — this is a 60-lb girl who needs someone confident and prepared. Ruthie has been around children at the dog park and treats them like little adults — with polite, reserved hesitation. She is food-motivated, sweet, and incredibly smart. With patience, structure, and time, she has all the makings of a truly special companion. Ruthie is one of those dogs who, with the right adopter and a few committed months of trust-building, will become a dream dog. Watching her finally relax, feel safe, and just be a dog has been an absolute privilege — and we can’t wait to see her find the forever home she deserves. ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.September 14, 2026, 3:27 pm

🐾 Loving Home Needed for Rimmy 🐾We are looking for a loving, responsible home for our sweet girl Rimmy. ❤️Rimmy is approximately 4 years old and is a mixed breed with American Bulldog. She is house trained, up to date on her rabies vaccination, and great with kids.Rimmy has a calm, independent personality. She enjoys affection but also likes having her own space and spending time by herself, so she would do well with a family who understands and respects that. This is a very difficult decision for our family. With our growing family, kids, work, and busy schedules, we simply aren’t able to give Rimmy the time and attention she deserves. Our goal is to find her a safe, loving, permanent home where she can be well cared for and loved.🐶 About Rimmy:* Approximately 4 years old* American Bulldog mix* House trained* Rabies vaccination up to date* Great with children* Independent and enjoys her personal space* Looking for a loving, stable forever home

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
🐾 Meet Tillie 🐾 Tilly is a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky girl who is always ready for an adventure. At approximately 2 years and 9 months old, she's looking for a fresh start with a family who will love her for the amazing dog she is. She has a playful personality and loves spending time with her sister, Millie. Whether they're playing in the yard or simply relaxing after a good romp, Tillie enjoys having a companion by her side. She's affectionate, friendly, and settles down nicely once she's had some exercise. Tillie is spayed, keeps a very clean kennel, and has quickly won over everyone she's met at the shelter. She has not yet been cat-tested or dog-tested, but we are happy to do either for a potential adopter. Our hope is to find a home that will keep Tillie and Millie together, but if that isn't possible, Tillie is ready to find a loving family who will give her the happy ending she's been waiting for. If you're looking for a loyal, playful companion with lots of love to give, Tillie may be your perfect match.

Story
🌈 Meet Dawg — the total package is still waiting for his forever family! 🐾 At around 3 years old, Dawg is equal parts sweetheart and goofball, and he's more than ready to find his people. ❤️ Friendly, affectionate, and loves everyone he meets 🐶 Dog-friendly (a meet-and-greet is required if you have another dog) 🚫 No cats — he can ignore a calm, stationary cat, but if one runs or reacts, his chase instinct takes over ✅ Neutered and up to date on his rabies vaccine — ready to go home today! Dawg loves getting out for walks... just don't expect him to train for a marathon! He's definitely a "short stroll" kind of guy. When he's decided the walk is over, he'll happily plop down right where he is and wait for you to catch on. 😂 He's also a professional splooter, stretching those back legs out like a little frog whenever he relaxes. Like many playful dogs, Dawg can get a little mouthy when he's excited, but he's responding well to being redirected with toys, and we think he'll thrive once he's settled into a home—especially if he has a playful canine companion. We can't believe no one has come to reclaim or adopt this amazing boy, but we're holding onto hope that his perfect family is out there. If you're looking for a loyal best friend with a goofy personality, a heart of gold, and plenty of love to give, Dawg is ready to meet you. Come see him... just don't be surprised if you fall in love. 💙🐾
