Story
I still have a lot of growing to do — in size and in personality — and every day I’m learning more about the world and who I’m going to become. Right now I’m curious, wiggly, and soaking up new experiences like a sponge.I've been spending time in a foster home, where I can relax, show my personality, and enjoy the comforts of home. I won’t be ready to head to my forever home just yet, but once I reach 8 weeks old and am spayed, I’ll be officially adoptable. Until then, my humans are busy discovering all my quirks, favorite things, and the little habits that make me me. Stay tuned… my story is just getting started. 🐶💛 If you are interested in learning more or would like to set up a Meet & Treat appointment, please fill out an adoption application on our website: www.hsbcpets.com/adopt

Story
Sweet Rocco had been living at a local land fill for over a month! He was terrified and would run away when people tried to help him - no one could catch him. We borrowed a live trap, and within two days the little guy was caught. Rocco is safe here with us, and he has come along way since the day we rescued him a number of years ago. Rocco has generalized fear and anxiety which will show as "aggression" if not handled properly. He has met new people and dogs and is gaining confidence, but he still needs slow introductions to new dogs, and when strangers visit the house he must be slowly introduced in a positive way. Rocco is a petite little guy (around 45-50 ponds) who is house trained and loves to "go with" on any excursion. He listens well, loves to play with squeaky toys, and has completed his basic obedience training class. During vet visits he wears his muzzle and does best with minimal restraint. Rocco has really bonded with us, and it appears as though he has some separation anxiety - his family is the most precious thing in his life - more important than food, water or comfort. Rocco does not want to be, and he currently cannot be, left alone - he has climbed six foot tall fences to find us. We have worked with a professional trainer, Casey McGee of Upward Hound Dog Training, on his anxiety issues and he has responded well, but he will require additional time and training. Rocco can improve significantly with proper training and medication, but he needs understanding, compassion, patience and trust. Rocco would do best in a quiet home with a family who will be dedicated to working with our trainer who will guide them through a program to help Rocco. Rescued Tails will cover the training costs for the adoptive home. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about this very special dog. You will never find a more loyal companion than Rocco.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 12:12 am

Story
Greetings from Huey! This big bay is a 2 year old Boxer mix with a beautiful multi-colored coat and a lot of love to give. He is very curious and pays very close attention to everything in his environment, suggesting he loves to learn and is very smart. He is super playful and almost puppy-like in how he plays; very goofy, and loves when you offer him some treats. He is one of the more food-motivated dogs you'll meet, never wanting to miss a meal and always showing up when treats are on hand. He isn't very accustomed to house-living, thus there would likely be an adjustment period, but his wits and goofy persona would imply that he'd do just fine as long as he gets some love and plenty of eats! If you're looking for a funny, curious, sweetheart of a dog to add to your family, look no further than Huey!

Story
Meet Guppy: The Sweet Boxer/Pit Mix with a Heart Full of Love!   Guppy is a compact boxer/pit mix who was rescued from a difficult situation, having been found emaciated and tied up outside. This sweet 3-year-old boy is now thriving with the care and compassion he's received and is ready to find a loving and permanent home. Despite a rough start, Guppy is a sweet and slightly anxious boy who simply needs reassurance and love to know he won’t be left alone again. He has done well with both cats and dogs in his previous environment, although there were minor altercations with one out of the three dogs. - **Current Foster Home:** Recently returned to his original rescuer for fostering, Guppy is thriving. He enjoys going on walks and is coexisting better with the other dogs. At approximately 40 pounds, Guppy is petite but with an enormous personality. He's the perfect blend of compact size and big-hearted charm. Guppy would do best in a home where he can continue to receive the love and reassurance he deserves. He will thrive in an environment where he isn't left alone for long periods and has the company of either humans or pets he gets along with. Guppy does have a tendency to act entitled at times, and will get jealous of other animals soaking up attention that should be for him. While he can coexist with dogs, he would do better in a home without other dogs.  If you’re looking for a sweet, energetic companion with lots of love to give, Guppy could be your perfect match. Contact us to learn more about this heartwarming pup and how you can bring him home!   If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application.  Once it has been processed then we can make a date to get together! Story
Pugsley is a 1-year-old handsome boy on a journey to build his confidence and find his forever home. With his intelligence and sweet nature, he’s sure to flourish with the right guidance and support. Pugsley feels most secure with his two brothers around but is adaptable with other canine companions. His bond with other dogs provides him the comfort he needs. He’s initially terrified of new environments, but with patience, he’s shown remarkable progress. Pugsley has mastered basic commands like 'sit' and making eye contact when his name is called, earning a blue ribbon for his efforts. He also nailed 'down' in just one session, and 'shake' is next on the list! While somewhat scared of cats, supervised introductions can help ease his anxieties. Pugsley and his brothers were surrendered due to being part of an accidental litter, lacking in early socialization. A patient owner with a stable routine would be essential for his development. Once Pugsley bonds with you, he’s incredibly loyal and stays by your side. He’s highly intelligent and ready to learn, making progress with each training session. He’s in need of a nurturing environment where someone can be his 'calm in the chaos,' providing guidance to help him see that the world isn’t as scary as it seems. Pugsley would thrive in a home with another friendly dog to boost his confidence and a patient owner committed to ongoing training and socialization. A calm, loving environment will help him continue to grow into a strong, confident dog. If you’re seeking a smart and loyal companion who will stick by your side, Pugsley is eager to meet you. Offer him a stable home where he can learn and grow, and experience the reward of watching him blossom into the wonderful dog he’s meant to be. Come meet Pugsley and be the 'calm in the chaos' he needs!   If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application.  Once it has been processed then we can make a date to get together!
