Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! From the foster: Meet Cody – Your Future Best Friend! Cody is a soft-hearted, gentle soul who’s just waiting for the right family to show him the love he’s always deserved. While he may be a little shy at first, he will sit beside you and soak up any love you can give him while he adjusts! He really opens up outside as he explores his surroundings! He’s already shown how wonderful he is with kids—patient and accepting even with a toddler’s enthusiastic attention! Cody has also met a couple of cats and, while a bit a curious, he’s respectful and has stuck to his own space so far besides a few sniffs. If you’re looking for a calm, kind-hearted pup who will blossom with patience and love, Cody is your guy. All he needs is a little time and a lot of cuddles—and he’ll reward you with a lifetime of quiet devotion. Let Cody show you how sweet life can be with a best friend by your side! www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

Story
This dog is a courtesy listing and not one of our dogs.   Please contact Jordan at jordanfuent@gmail.com or 505-690-3371.   Do you want a dog that is 60% couch potato and 40% goofball? That's me! I am a beautiful, AKC registered Bull Terrier that loves relaxing, playing soccer by myself or with a human, only bark when I hear something suspicious, and love to play with cats. I don't like other dogs, and under no circumstances should I be around them...I'm top dog and want to be your only love. While I'm not good with small children (I don't like my tail, paws, nor ears touched) I love older kids that can understand my quirks. I like walks and don't pull, bark, or lung, as I just want to enjoy the scenery with you. My favorite things are my bed, balls, food, and car rides! I need a home that won't yell at me, as I am a sensitive fella and that will make me anxious and defensive. I do fantastic with positive training and am goofball that spins around and hops when you playfully spank my strong back legs. I "grumble" like a bear a lot to tell you how happy I am or that I need something, and I'm super strong, so no soft toys. As a Bull Terrier, I have seasonal allergies and yeast, but a little benadryl is what the vet says I need. Do not try to clean my ears, it makes me extremely nervous and defensive, but sending me to the groomers is okay as long as they know that. If you have a calm, gentle, positive household with experienced dog owners, I just may be your new love!  May 29, 2025, 9:28 pm

Story
Bently is a big guy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s the total package: playful, cuddly, goofy, and endlessly sweet. This handsome boy turns heads with his stocky build and wagging tail, but it’s his gentle, happy-go-lucky nature that really wins people over. Bently is super social—he gets along well with other dogs, loves meeting new people, and has even lived peacefully around cats. He’s doing great in his foster home, where he sleeps through the night in his crate, keeps his kennel clean, and charms everyone he meets. While Bently is calm indoors and has good manners, he’s no couch potato. He’s strong, energetic, and loves to explore—always on the move, always up for fun. He knows a few tricks (his “spin” is a crowd favorite!) and is eager to learn more with someone who can keep up with his playful spirit. Because of his strength and rough-and-tumble play style, Bently would do best in a home with adults or older kids. He’s not aggressive at all—just enthusiastic and powerful, with a whole lot of love to give. Bently came to us after his previous owner was forced to surrender him due to a housing issue, and now he’s ready to start the next chapter of his life—with a forever family who will adore him for the goofy, loyal, lovable guy he is. Ready to meet your new best friend? Bently is waiting! Bently was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2422138##

Story
Meet Kimber, a lively and energetic dog with a big heart and a love for exploration. Once she gets to know you, her playful, wiggly side really shines through, and she’s always eager to make new friends. Kimber is protective of her chew items (can you blame her?) - so she prefers to enjoy them in peace. She’s highly food motivated, which makes her an eager learner, and she already knows how to sit and lie down on cue. Kimber would thrive with some additional training, which will help her channel her energy and curiosity into even more positive behaviors. Whether she’s exploring new places or enjoying a training session, Kimber’s enthusiasm and loyalty make her a wonderful companion.
