Story
Name: JupiterBreed: Carolina DogSex: FemaleAge: 5Weight: 40 lbsVetting: spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventionHouse trained: YesCrate Trained: She is crate trained, but her first experience with them was when she was with animal control, so she doesn't love being in one.Dogs: She has done well with male dogs, but has had personality issues with other females.Cats: She hasn't been cat tested, but can upon request. Energy Level: Her high energy side comes out when she wants to play. She will run and play tug-a-war with a maximum energy level, and she needs to play like this at least twice a day. But when she's done playing, she would love to just relax in the sunshine.Things that make me happy: Food and scratches, specifically butt scratches, and being with her human man. She loves her foster mom and is very protective of her, but she will always want to be a daddy’s girl. She is a terrible flirt and waits all day for an evening of snuggles with her foster dad. She loves her treats of raw carrots and green beans. She even knows the difference when given a choice and she will tell you which one she would prefer at that moment. And if you take the time to scratch her bum she will reward you by loudly purring.Things that make my humans happy: She is so smart. She knows how to give a high five, a regular five, and a double five aka a ten. She also knows No, Sit, and Speak and is working on lying down. She sticks to her schedule of eating and going to the bathroom outside, so as long as her human is consistent all will be well.Working on: Jupiter is still a bit wild when playing. She is not aggressive, but she doesn't always understand that humans don’t play the same way as dogs. She needs someone who can handle a dog who uses her mouth when playing. She won't bite hard, but there could be the occasional nip when your hand is too close to her end of her tug rope. She is also built like a furry little tank and she may jump on you when playing (she doesn't jump otherwise) and you’ll feel her compact weight and her nails. Before FAR: Jupiter lived her first two years on her own as a stray until she was picked up by animal services and was rescued by Furever After Rescue just in time to avoid being euthanized. She was likely never a domestic dog before she was rescued. She doesn't show any signs of having been mistreated by humans, but she will always be skittish around and wary of people.Special Notes: Jupiter is slightly skittish from having been on her own originally. She prefers the flight instead of fight reaction as her first instinct and will need her own special place to retreat to when she gets scared. She wants someone who will be patient with her and let her explore and understand what is expected of her. Ideal Family/Home: Because of her size and background, she wouldn’t be right in a household with younger children. She really needs a family that will be able to give her the love and attention she needs. She will want to sleep in the bed with you where she's not shy about being a bed hog, but she repays with sweet cuddles. She's good on a leash and loves a good walk, but not a long one, so she will need daily exercise through lots of playing. She would not be good in a home where her parents are gone 40+ hours a week. She is a special dog and needs a family that can appreciate her uniqueness. Luckily for me the rescue took me in, helped me have my babies and got them all adopted. Now I'm waiting for my Furever home! Energy Level: Medium.Things that make me happy: Humans, being the center of attention and getting lots of love and cuddles, walks, any time food comes out. Things that make my humans happy: When I'm sweet and affectionate, when I run around in circles when food comes out or when it's time to go on a walk. Working on: Laying down on command (I know sit stay, shake and high five already!); Being calm and not reactive around other dogs I don't know.Dogs: I can be a bit selective, and need a dog that will accept me as "the boss"Cats: NoIdeal Family/Home: I would do best in a single dog home that is able to give me plenty of love and attention. Older children or no children at all would be best (I do love all kids though!). Because I tend to be reactive round other dogs I don't know or that also have dominant personalities, I need someone that is able to help me learn how to stay calm in these situations. I love my humans and am very loyal to them so would love to find a family that is the same with me! I'm ready to meet you and find my Furever home! Chico is a very sweet 2-year-old male American bully loves walks and lots of attention he is very gentle and good with other Dogs he is a very sweet spirit and is deserving of a loving forever home my family situation has changed and I'm working overtime and now take full care of my mother who recently had an aneurysm and has dementia. She has recently moved in with us and this sweet boy is not getting as much attention as he is deserving of due to my circumstances I'm looking to rehome Chico to a family that has a fenced in backyard being that he's use to that type of environment and loves to run and play in the yard I'm not accepting applications to rehome him in a condo/ townhouse most do not allow pets and he's use to going in and out not being kept indoors all day he loves the outside as well And it is very important to me that Chico feels safe Thank you for your interest in adopting this sweet boy he's much deserving of a loving family and enjoying his life

Story
Name: LolliBreed: Boxer/Pit mixSex/Age/Weight: Female, approximately 4 years old, approx. 59 lbsVetting: Spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention, and microchippedHouse trained/Crate Trained: Yes/YesBefore FAR: I was rescued from the Baldwin County Animal Shelter when I was pregnant with 12 puppies. All my puppies have found their furever homes, and now it’s my turn!Energy Level: I am a low to medium energy dog. I do get excited when I play with my foster fur siblings, especially outside, but I know when it is time to calm down. When I'm not playing, I do very well with relaxing with my humans or chewing on a bone. Things that make me happy: I love getting pets and belly rubs! I LOVE being with my people and tend to stick close to them whenever I can. I also love playing with my fur siblings or playing fetch in the yard with a ball or a stick. I LOVE water and will try to drink from the hose when you water your plants!Things that make my humans happy: I am very sweet and loving. I love to snuggle up on the couch with you. I am so incredibly soft and fun to pet, and I love being pet too. I am playful and always ready for an adventure!Training status: I am VERY well trained, both off and on leash. I know sit, down, here (recall command), drop (for fetch), and place; I will also hold these commands reliably during duration work. I am very food motivated which makes me eager and easy to train! Dogs: I love the other dogs in my foster home and I am friendly with all dogs I meet! I have great social skills with other dogs, but a meet and greet with future siblings would be best to make sure they can handle my energy.Cats: When I was cat tested I tried to play too rough with them, so I would do best in a home without cats.Kids: I have never been around children, but I think I would love them!Ideal Family/Home: I would be a wonderful addition to just about any home! I do well with all humans and dogs I have met. Story
Hi everyone! My name is Merry, and I just wanted to make sure that y’all know that I am looking for my furever home. Yep, that’s right. Can you believe that no one has snatched me up yet? All of us pups in my family have been in our awesome foster home since we were born. So we’ve waited for weeks to get big enough and ready to get adopted. And now my sisters and I are waiting for our furever homes. Just so you know, I am a GREAT pup. I am happy all the time, and my foster mom says I am very “social”. I guess she says that because I love everyone. I love my foster family and I really love playing with the other puppies and all the big dogs. I love being held and cuddled. But what I really really want most is to move on to what my foster mom says will be my “furever home”. I want a place where I can stay forever with people who want ME! So are you looking for a great pup? If so, I am your girl! I am living with my foster family in Macon (GA), but I am ready to pack my bags and move to my furever home.Merry’s mom is a 55-60 pound sweetheart (possibly Black Mouth Cur and Boxer), and dad is unknown. But whatever breed mix Merry is, she’s a cutie! Merry and her littermates are happy, social pups. Merry is current on her vetting – she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines worming and preventatives. Merry is also crate trained and doing good on becoming house trained. She deserves someone who can lavish time and energy on her, and who will make sure that they can give her plenty of exercise and play time, and training. Her new family should also have time to focus on socialization and training to make sure that Merry is the best family member she can be. If you currently have family pets, please note that our rescue requires that our adopters’ current pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and preventatives, and spayed or neutered. If you have been searching for a puppy and have time to spend training a young pup, go to the link below fill out an application. This little girl is a sweetheart who would be a good fit for a family with or without other dogs and with or without children. When you submit your application, it is best to do so via a computer. We have experienced some problems when applications have been submitted using a mobile device. When you submit the application, you are not obligated to adopt; however, it does put you in the queue for the puppy that you are interested in. And it helps us make sure that you and the puppy would be a good fit together. If you have any questions, please contact us and we will be glad to help!http://fureverafterrescue.org/adoption-application.html
