Story
We rescued Lulu from her first home in December and we originally got her as a gift for a friend but she ended up not wanting her so we kept Lulu. We believe she would do good as an only dog because of how much attention and training she needs. We are not able to give her that because of the schedules we have and other pets in the home. She played well with one of our dogs but recently she has started to get aggressive when left alone with her, and we can’t have that. She is 1 yr and 7 months and has some vision problems. Her last family had a small child at home but we aren’t sure how she interacts with them now. She also poops in her crate but we believe she does it out of spite for being left in there. She loves to be all up on you anywhere you’re sitting. She needs loving parents who will take the time to properly train her and spend time with her.

Story
Found her about two years ago in Salem park. She had a bad yeast infection on her skin and lost most of her fur. I got her back to a great healthy state and she’s been good since. She has an awesome temperament with people and other dogs. Not sure about other animals since she has not been around other animals with me. She is allergic to chicken, but has been on a salmon & sweet potato diet and doing great. I moved recently and the new house has a chain link fence. She keeps digging holes and getting out. I have tried many things to prevent it from continuing but hasn’t worked. The old house had a tall wood privacy fence and I thinks she would need that or someone that can leash walk her when she needs to go out so that she will stop escaping.

Story
Meet Chalupa! Chalupa is a 3-year-old, 57-pound girl with a soft heart and a loving personality that truly shines once she feels safe. In the shelter she can be fairly timid and reserved, but that environment doesn’t show who she really is. When she relaxes, Chalupa is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle—she gives the best hugs and happily leans into her person for comfort and connection. She enjoys getting out to explore and is happy to join you for adventures, but she’s just as content curling up on the couch beside you, keeping you warm and cozy while you relax together. Chalupa is housetrained when kept on a routine and settles nicely into home life. Chalupa has a bit of a free spirit and is quite the athlete. She can easily jump a 4-foot fence, so she will need a tall, secure fence—ideally a privacy fence—or a home where she is leash walked instead of left unattended in the yard. She has shown some reactivity toward other dogs and may do best as the only dog in the home or with very slow, thoughtful introductions to canine companions. With patience and a calm home where she can decompress, Chalupa’s affectionate and loyal nature truly comes through. For someone looking for a cuddly companion who will share both quiet moments and outdoor adventures, Chalupa is ready to be your devoted sidekick. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
This sweet girl is Molly, my sisters dog, currently located in Cornelius, NC. She is 5 years old and is ready for a loving home where she can truly thrive. Molly is very smart, potty trained, crate trained & can use a pee pad. She loves men & would do especially well with a male owner who has a large, fenced yard where she can safely run and play. Molly would do best as the only pet in the home, as she does not get along with other dogs or cats. She was a rescue, and we believe she may have been used as a breeding dog in the past. Because of that, she could benefit from continued training and patience as she settles into a stable, loving environment. Right now, we have to keep her separated from our two small dogs, and it is becoming increasingly difficult. Molly deserves a home where she does not have to be isolated and can receive the attention and care she needs. She truly deserves a second chance with someone who will love her.

Story
Our beautiful Gracie Ann... what can we tell you about her in this short bio? She was found some months back, dumped in a grocery store parking lot. Alone and scared. No idea why she was dumped, no idea what she had done wrong to be deserted. One of our rescue partners called us and we jumped into action! While, we normally cannot take dogs larger than 35#, we couldn't say "no". She needed us! Gracie joined the pack of one of our fabulous fosters and fell into the role of loving life, indoors and warm! When Gracie came to us, we thought she was pregnant. Her stomach was full like she was ready to give birth. We waited. No puppies. She ate a lot.... still no puppies. We took her to the vet and confirmed, not pregnant but was in heat. Her foster mom would be out of town for a few weeks, and we would have her spayed when she returned. Gracie started losing weight rapidly. We rushed her to the vet and found out that she had pyometra. This is life or death! One vet wanted to put her to sleep because the procedure is so costly! For a rescue, $5k is a lot to absorb! We got a second opinion and are so glad that we did! Our vet gave us hope! Gracie had the surgery that afternoon and it was touch and go for a while. She stayed in the hospital for days. Today, she is fully healthy! Her bloodwork is perfect! Gracie is 2 years old.. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention. She is spayed and chipped. Gracie is housetrained and can be trusted outside of a crate. She is such a great dog! She will do best in a home with another dog as she LOVES to play, and we do not feel that placing her without a companion is in her best interest. If you have room in your home and your heart for this sweetheart of a girl, please complete the adoption application, below: https://acfrescue.weebly.com/adoption-foster-and-volunteer-applications.html Adoption fee: $100
