- Loves going on walks and does best with a harness- Knows sit and likes treats, so he'd be a lot of fun to train - Has been very good for baths here in the shelter - Tends to be introverted around other dogs and may prefer one-on-one interactions or smaller groups of dog friends; may not be comfortable in places where there are a lot of dogs and may prefer to be the only dog in his home (dog intro required) - Looking for a teens-and-up home right now- We don't know his history with cats - May have allergies (more info at ARL) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. This gentle giant was taken in as a stray at just 7 months old and has spent the last several years living peacefully in a home with 15 other dogs of all ages and sizes. He’s truly a pack-friendly boy who gets along with everyone. Unfortunately, his owner had to downsize her dog family, so Wendell came to us. From the moment we met him, it was clear—this boy is pure love! 🥰 He’s chill, affectionate, housebroken, and oh-so-sweet. Wendell absolutely aced his temperament test and showed us just how easygoing and wonderful he is. If you’re looking for a loyal, laid-back companion who will fit right in with your family, Wendell is your guy! Hi, I’m Luke, and I’m a big, lovable boy tipping the scales at just over 100 lbs! Don’t let my size fool you—I’m a happy, easygoing pup who just wants to play, explore, and cuddle. I’m all about the good things in life: squeaky toys, water play, long walks, and best of all—snuggle time on the couch. I’m a pro at giving hugs (though I’m working on not jumping up too hard to give them—oops!). I get along great with other dogs and kids, but because of my size and enthusiasm, I’d do best with older children who won’t get accidentally knocked over during playtime. I’m crate trained, housebroken, and walk nicely on a leash—unless there’s a squirrel… then it’s game on! I do have a slight prey drive, so a little guidance goes a long way.
