Story
About Me: Name: Willow Ava Breed (or best guess): Terrier mix Approximate Age: 3 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 13 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Loving Family, must be only pet Why In Rescue: stray/lost dog Profile:  Willow Ava was found as a stray/lost dog in Milwaukee County and no one came for her so she is looking for a new family.  We don't have a history or background on her and breed/age are our best guesses.  Willow is a sweet dog just waiting for a home of her own.  Willow was adopted and returned because she didn't do well with the family's cat or dogs outside the home.  Because of this Willow needs to live in a single family home, not an apartment where she will be meeting other dogs on a regular basis. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS March 11, 2026, 11:03 pm

About Me: Name: Snapdragon Breed (or best guess): Cairn or mix Approximate Age: 2 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 8 lb (underweight) Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Loving family Why In Rescue: lost/stray dog Profile:  Snapdragon came to us from Milwaukee Animal Control.  He is a happy little guy who will be ready to go to his new home soon, so apply for him now!  We don't have any history on him, so don't know if he was potty trained or if he lived with children or other pets.  We do know he is a cute young dog and should make a wonderful pet! Story
This cutie is KIMBO, a male, Cairn Terrier/Chihuahua mix, who is around 5-6 years old and weighing around 16-18 pounds. He has a rough/wiry coat that just needs routine brushing. Kimbo is a sensitive dog who was treated unkindly when he was young so he requires time to adjust to his new surroundings and people; a patient and understanding adopter is a must for him, but he is SO worth it. He is a very sweet, shy dog who is great with other small dogs and enjoys playing with them for hours. When he’s done playing, he loves to nap on his foster mom’s lap. Kimbo lives easily in a foster home with two teenagers and his foster mom and a few dogs. We are seeking a calm, adult or adult with teen(s) household, another small, playful dog with whom he can buddy, and a securely fenced yard.  Kimbo enjoys going for walks and will benefit from continued walks to help him become more and more comfortable with seeing and hearing "life" going on around him. Kimbo is crated when people leave the home and at night, which he accepts easily. He is housebroken when taken out on a schedule.  He is uncomfortable meeting new people so he is not a dog that would do well with an adopter who wants to have a dog who goes out and meets people at events, restaurants, etc.  Kimbo's history is sad; his owner got him as a puppy and when the kids tired of him, he was relegated to living in the basement with minimal attention. He has done very well in foster care and will make a great companion for a Terrier loving person. This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided vaccines, been dewormed, tested for diseases, neutered, and microchipped.  ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available upon request from acaringplace@comcast.net.   A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue adopts throughout the Greater Chicagoland Area. All dogs and puppies live in foster homes, providing you as the adopter, with information on the animal's behaviors, needs, and requirements. We are always in search of fosters care providers. If you are one of those special people willing to open your heart and home to an animal in need and would like to receive information on how you can foster an animal, please contact us.     May 19, 2026, 7:39 pm

Story
How to begin this story.. well I am a silly guy. I believe many myths to be true. No dog is too small for the job and no legs are too short, that includes my own stumpy legs. I look like a funny cross between a Jack Russel, maybe a Corgi and something Doodley all glued together. I call it handsome. Herbert is the name and when Im feeling spicy its, Herberto! I was a stray that found myself alone in a hospital run for weeks. Telling everyone to piss off and leave me alone, except for one lovely guy. He became my first real friend, my handler, my confidant. This young man brought me to Redemption! Where I am now learning even more about myself and this beautiful world around me. I enjoy nature, running through lake edges and streams. I dont mind getting my feet dirty or letting you rinse them off. I love fresh flowers growing in the grass and gardens, I love tearing the ground up with my swift little feet. If you arent paying attention ill spin in a circle and bounce right off of you! Funny to me, not so funny to the dog walkers. I am a typical terrier in many ways. I love to have fun, chase a ball for a moment, and nip dogs butts in play group. The terrier in me just squeals with joy at the thrill of the chase! My playmates..... ya not so much..they occasionally hand my butt back to me. I am a good sport though and can let most things go. Now with that being said; I crave a strong leader. Some one that isn't afraid to keep me on my toes, make sure I complete all my chores and stay on my best behavior. Its true that I push the envelope, but I promise I just wanna be a good boy...most of the time.  Herbert is a loving social boy that would do great in a home with another dog, he also doesn't mind cats and could live happily with older considerate children. Herbert walks nicely on a leash, is crate and potty trained, but still needs some work on sharing things he values. He has a slight spicy side that can be tamed with a good full routine and physical activity. He really is an amazing dog that would do best with an owner that has terrier experience. Please contact us to learn more about this silly goose! Contact us today to meet this remarkable dog.
