Story
Meet Cinnamon: The Tiniest Sweetheart in NYC! Weight: 3 lbs of pure fluff | Age: 7 weeks | Breed: Cairn Terrier Mix If you’re looking for a tiny bundle of joy with a big personality, look no further than Cinnamon! This 3-pound girl is "exuberantly affectionate" and famous for her signature move: giving sweet puppy licks the second she’s picked up for a hug. She’s adjusted perfectly to the fast-paced NYC life and is ready to find a lap to call her own. Her Puppy Progress The Kissing Bandit: Cinnamon is incredibly social and loves licking back whenever she’s being cuddled. Tumble & Play: She spends her days wrestling with her brother, Chocolate, and exploring every corner of her playpen with curiosity. Master of Relaxation: When playtime is over, you can find her napping in the funniest position—flat on her back in her dog bed! The Great Indoors Like her brother, Cinnamon is currently staying cozy inside to avoid the winter chill. She is pee-pad trained in her playpen and hasn't started leash training just yet. While she’ll occasionally give a tiny "excited" yip to let you know she’s ready to play in the big room, she is generally very quiet and never a barker. The Perfect Match Cinnamon is looking for an active, loving family who can keep up with her puppy energy. Because she is so social and sweet, she would be wonderful in a home with children or other pets. She balances her "zoomies" with a love for downtime and snuggles. Note: At 7 weeks old, Cinnamon is still a baby! Her forever family will need to continue her socialization and house-training as she explores the world. If adopted in advance, adopters will be responsible for taking Cinnamon to her vaccine, microchip, and spay/neuter appointment. This appointment will be fully covered by the rescue with an advanced $100 refundable deposit in addition to the adoption donation.  To apply for Cinnamon, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2616295##

Story
Meet Chocolate: The Sweetest Treat in NYC! Weight: 3–4 lbs of pure joy | Age: 7 weeks | Breed: Cairn Terrier Mix Don’t let his tiny size fool you—Chocolate has a big personality and an even bigger heart! This pint-sized New Yorker is the perfect blend of curiosity, affection, and puppy energy. Whether he’s wrestling with his sister, Cinnamon, or trying to "break out" of his playpen for more snuggles, Chocolate is always the life of the party. His Puppy Progress Social Butterfly: Chocolate loves being held by visitors and greets every new face with an excited tail wag. Big Appetite: He’s transitioning beautifully to solid food and is a champion eater. Playtime Pro: He’s already a fan of chasing balls and mastering the art of the "puppy pounce" with his favorite toys. The Great Indoors Because it’s a bit chilly out there for a 3-pounder, Chocolate has spent most of his time cozy inside. He is currently pee-pad trained within his playpen and hasn't started leash training yet. He’s a quiet guy (no barking!) who enjoys the company of his mom and sister, but he’s ready to find his own "forever pack." The Perfect Match Chocolate is looking for an active family ready to guide a young puppy through the "real world." Since he is so social and loves constant interaction, he would be a fantastic addition to a home with children or other pets to play with. Note: As a 7-week-old pup, Chocolate will need a family committed to his continued potty training and socialization as he grows! If adopted in advance, adopters will be responsible for taking Chocolate to his vaccine, microchip, and spay/neuter appointment. She would bond mostly with a woman, but be fine with a husband as well. She is healthy, smart, agile, and would do well as an only dog. She would do fine with other dogs but she is the boss. She is above playing with puppies. She is puppy pad / house broken trained. strayheartsrescue@outlook.com https://forms.gle/suhbpui9RXiVmvoJ9

Poor Georgie has not had a good life. He spent the last few years living in a car with his homeless owner. He was seized by the police when his owner was hospitalized. Georgie has to learn to trust because of his rough life. He is estimated to be 16-18 years old. He does like people but has some issues with grooming and is reactive to big dogs. He would do well in a quiet adult home. Georgie needs a home to spend the remainder of his life in comfort and with the love he deserves.

Story
Are you looking for a loyal companion whose only goal is to love and be loved? Meet Luke, (affectionately called Lukey) a senior dog who has been waiting patiently for 9 months for a quiet home to call his own. Luke is an incredibly sweet boy who truly aims to please. It's clear he hasn't had the easiest life, but his capacity for forgiveness is immense. All he wants is a gentle hand and a person who will dote on him. Luke may be a bit stand-offish to start, but once Luke learns he can trust you, he will solicit soft pets and lots of snuggles from you. Luke can be a bit set in his ways (he is a terrier, afterall!), so it's important that an adopter understand they may need to adapt to Luke.  To help Luke find the perfect retirement home, a generous anonymous donor has sponsored a portion of his adoption fee! (Luke's adoption fee is ONLY $150) Luke's Health: We've made sure Luke is all set for his new beginning! In our care, he's had a senior examination with bloodwork and a dental cleaning (including x-rays and extractions). Medically, Luke is very healthy for his age. Although he does have some age-related aches (arthritis) and general anxiety (from a lifetime of not being chosen), both are easily managed with affordable daily medication.   He also suffers from environmental allergies, but has had great relief with a monthly injection (Cytopoint), and has chronic dry eye (which is very common in Westies) requiring daily, life-long eye drops to keep his eyes lubricated and healthy  Luke can hear, but let's say it's selective terrier hearing!  Luke's Ideal Home: A calm, adult-only, low-traffic household is best. He needs a home without small children (now or in the future) to help him feel safe and secure. Luke can be a bit head shy and doesn't necessarily like physical touch unless he initiates it. Because of that, we recommend a home without little hands.   He should be the only pet in the home. While he's friendly with other dogs on leash, he wants to be the king of his own castle and soak up all your attention. Luke has previously resided with another dog in foster homes and briefly during a short adoption. A very experienced, skilled adopter may be able to make slow progress with Luke to integrate him to another dog, but we would recommend Luke rule his roost as a solo dog.   A senior for a senior: Luke is a lower-energy side kick and he would most appreciate someone who aligns with his speed. He walks beautifully on a leash, doesn't pull, and would thrive with someone who's around more than they're not. He can tolerate short absences, but Luke isn't a dog who can be alone for an extended period of time (6+ hours a day).  Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, bordetella, and Lepto. Neutered and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.  To apply to adopt Luke, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for a foster application. Questions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2361863##
