Story
Meet Georgie, a resilient and loving companion who's still looking for his forever family due to his foster mom's health issues. Since joining us in September 2025 after being rescued from Babylon, he's shown remarkable spirit, yet he's only received one inquiry. Georgie's past is marked by hardship, living in a car with his owner until they were separated by illness. However, his future is bright! Here's what makes Georgie special: estimated 16 years young, housebroken, energetic, enjoys home-cooked meals, neutered, vaccinated, and loves nothing more than people. Story
Meet Rocco! This special complicated little guy is about 4 years old, less than 15lbs and some type of floofy terrier/poodle type mix we are guessing. He may bark and put on a tough act when meeting new people, but is lovable and happy once he bonds and loves walks and car rides with his favorite staff. He prefers to dine alone and is looking for a calm adult home with people who will give him his space and let him come over for attention on his terms. He was never socialized with other dogs either and will loudly try to scare them away first before they can scare him. Medically, he's also a complicated little dude. His owners never brought him to a vet, even when he had a severe back injury and was temporarily paralyzed. Luckily with rest he was able to mostly recover on his own from a suspected disc injury, but is still a bit ataxic and wobbly in his hind legs. He does best walking on grass and softer surfaces with traction, and shouldn't be allowed to jump on and off furniture or do stairs as there is more of a change of re-injuring his back. He's had some GI issues on and off as well and was diagnosed with IBD after an endoscopy and GI biopsies: he's doing much better on a strict prescription diet and medications now and is well-managed We know this guy isn't an easy sell... he's not perfect, but the bond that comes with taking the time to get to know and love quirky little dogs like him is extra meaningful. If you can be that special person for Rocco, please submit an application to meet him Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Grey Age: 5yrs 0mths 3wks

Story
Meet Missy! With her adorable little underbite and sweet, soulful eyes, Missy is guaranteed to steal your heart. This beautiful girl is 2 years old, weighs 21 pounds, and is believed to be a Scottie Terrier/Cairn Terrier mix (our best guess). She came to Connecticut all the way from Texas after she sat in a rescue for several months with no interest. Her foster family shares that “Missy is truly one of the easiest dogs we have ever welcomed into their home.” She's the perfect combination of playful and relaxed—happy to zoom around the yard chasing fun one minute and curled up beside you on the couch the next. This affectionate little girl absolutely loves being with her people. Whether she's following you around the house, soaking up belly rubs, or snuggling close during a quiet evening, Missy is happiest when she's near the ones she loves. Because of her people-oriented nature, she would thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not. Missy gets along beautifully with the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys having canine friends to play with. She's also housetrained, walks nicely on a leash, and has wonderful manners that make her an easy addition to almost any family. Most of all, Missy deserves a family who will cherish her furever. Her first family let her down, but we promised her that would never happen again. Now she's searching for the loving, committed home she has always deserved. If you're looking for a small, sweet, easygoing companion with a heart of gold and the cutest underbite around, Missy may be your perfect match. Her adoption fee is $450 and Missy is vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. If you’re interested in this adorable little girl, please apply at form.jotform.com/200883908893166. Story
Meet Rubble (rhymes with trouble) a scruffy 7 month old little terrier mix who was abandoned in a carrier by a dumpster as a scared little puppy. We thought about naming him Dumpster Fire since his entire life has been one giant one 🗑️ 🔥, but that sounds a little awkward to be out in your yard yelling randomly. Adopted by a very loud bush active family with a pack of young boisterous children that would not leave him alone, he defending himself the only way an adorable 10lbs puppy who looks like a stuffed animal but definitely didn’t want to be treated that way could 😖. And them his owners were determine to have this awful pup euthanized and out of their house ASAP! He’s learned to protect his space, food, and resources, is very hand shy and on guard but once he realizes you aren’t an annoying toddler trying to pull his tail and you aren’t going to scream at him for protecting himself from the wild pack of children, he melts into a fun playful cuddly puppy. He’s given us no issues at all and fallen in line with the other dogs, so we see great potential in him. He’s right at that age where there’s still time to turn his life around in the right environment and with the right force-free training and socialization, but he needs someone committed to rebuilding his faith that his person will defend him so he doesn’t have to. Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Transport Available to New England Meet Tito, a one-of-a-kind little character with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Tito is about a year to a year and a half old and appears to be a Scottish Terrier mix, giving her that adorable, slightly scruffy look paired with a compact, sturdy build. She’s the perfect blend of playful and snuggly. Tito absolutely loves chasing balls and will happily entertain herself (and you) with her goofy, athletic moves. When playtime is over, she’s more than content to curl up in your lap and soak up all the affection she can get. She’s truly a companion dog at heart. Tito is house trained, crate trained, and a smart little girl who enjoys routine. She gets along with other dogs and cats, though she would also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as your one and only. Because of her smaller size, she would do best in a home with older, gentle children. She has a fun, alert personality and will let you know when someone is around, making her a great little watchdog. More than anything, Tito is looking for a home where she can be loved, included, and cherished as part of the family. Tito is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to find her forever home. Transport is available to the Northeast, Midwest, and points in between. If you’re looking for a loyal, entertaining, and affectionate companion, Tito just might be your perfect match.
