Story
Hi There! Are you looking for a handsome, tan, lover boy? I'm Teddy, the guy for you! I am a  2 1/2-year-old dapper, tan Cairn Terrier/Dachshund mix. I thrive on affection. I love being loved - my theme song could very well be "Somebody to Love." There's nothing I love more than sitting and cuddling in a lap, and I'm eager to find that special spot forever. Could your lap be the place for me? I love to run and play in the backyard. I'm very interested in observing squirrels and giving them a good chase. Give me a toy and I am a busy, happy boy.  I also come with a set of skills too- I sit on command, come when called, and walk well on my leash. I'm comfortable around other dogs and am housebroken.  While I'm still figuring out how I feel about cats I get along well with other dogs, and I would do well with older kids, but maybe not toddlers  I tend to bark at people until I get to know them, but with lessons from my foster, I am working on developing better barking manners.  I'm a brave and loving special-needs dog who has experienced seizures over the past few months, each about two months apart. Despite these challenges, I continue to lead a normal like any regular dog - enjoying my walks, playtime, and cuddles just like any other day. Recently, I began taking seizure medication to help manage my condition.  I dream of a place with a cozy human lap where I can live in the heart of my forever family. I would love to meet you and hope you can be my forever place. Are you my somebody to love? Learn more about our adoption process below and fill out an adoption application to take the first step in giving Teddy the home he deserves! Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. APPLY HERE: www.richardsonhumanesociety.org ##1915569##

I love to play and run around, always ready for a game of fetch or a brisk walk. I'm super friendly and love making new friends, though I admit, I like to be the boss during playtime. I can get a bit nippy when overly excited, so I might do best in a home without little ones. I'm full of energy and affection, looking for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle as much as I do. Adopting me means endless fun and a loyal companion by your side. Let's start our adventure together!March 7, 2026, 2:41 pm

I'm Bea, the queen of mischief. My journey to the shelter? Oh, it's a funny tale! I once mistook the neighbor's inflatable flamingo for a real bird. In my heroic attempt to save my family from the 'pink peril,' I may have accidentally caused a yard-wide spectacle, complete with a deflated flamingo and a very surprised mailman. Now, I'm here, bursting with energy and love, ready to bring joy and a few harmless adventures to my forever home. Why adopt me? I promise to keep life entertaining and hearts full!April 20, 2026, 2:42 pm

Hi there… I’m Slinky. Yeah, like the toy—but I promise I’m way more fun.I’ve been told I’ve got a “low-rider” vibe—long body, short legs, and a tail that never stops wagging. I take that as a compliment. It just means there’s more of me to love, stretched out in a unique way. What I really want is a home where I can relax, feel safe, and be someone’s little shadow. I don’t need anything fancy—just some belly rubs, a cozy spot to nap, and a human who’ll love me as much as I’ll love them (which is a LOT).Come meet me from 12 to 6 p.m., any day of the week.No application or appointment required—walk-ins welcome.SPCA of Texas, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, 75212
