Story
Meet Griffin! He is a very playful boy who loves to wrestle with other kitties, climb on cat trees, and play with anything that will roll! Griffin would be a great companion for your kitty that gets lonely while you are gone, and it would be great for Griffin to be in a home with people who understand that he is a shy guy, and allow him to get used to them and come out of his shell over a period of time. The reward will be that once Griffin gets comfortable with you, he has a strong purr motor, and he loves to be held like a baby and get kisses! Griffin is our King of The Cat Hut, meaning that he has been with us and available for adoption the longest of any cat! Let's find King Griffin a castle that he can call home! We found out on his neuter surgery day that Griffin is FIV positive. But the great news is that, once a cat is spayed or neutered, it is very unlikely that they can pass FIV to any other cat! The two main ways of transmission of FIV are through blood contact, which is most often the result of fighting, and reproduction. Both behaviors are greatly reduced or completely eliminated by spaying and neutering! FIV used to be a death sentence for cats in shelters, but with advanced education we have learned that FIV positive cats can live regular lives just like any other cat! Because of the very low possibility of transmission to other cats, Griffin is perfectly able to be adopted into a home with other non-FIV cats, and he gets to play everyday with the other cats here at The Cat Hut! His best friend is Martin, and you can see the two of them playing together in the video! You can read more about FIV at the link below: https://www.alleycat.org/resources/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv/ Griffin is affected by a condition called subluxating patella. The femur bone has a groove in it that the tendons that hold the patella, the kneecap, sits in. Griffin's did not form correctly before he was born, so the tendons roll around, causing his knees to be able to pop out of place when he walks. The fantastic news is that Griffin isn't in any pain, so there is absolutely nothing special that his forever home needs to do for him! He still climbs and jumps just like any other 8 month old kitten! He may never have pain from his knees, which is the best outcome ever! There is a surgery available to help Griffin in case he ever started to be in pain. But until then, Griffin is pretty much a regular kitty just waiting here at The Cat Hut for his forever family to come and meet him! Griffin's Adoption Fee has been waived to get him one step closer to a loving forever home! Meet all our cats and kittens at The Cat Hut! 1118 2nd St. in Webster City. Story
Penny came to The Cat Hut with her friend Sassy after their owner's work schedule changed, causing there to be no one to care for them. Sassy and Penny are both about four years old. Penny lost the only home that she has ever known, so it is understandable that she is a shy girl. Penny gets along great with her friend Sassy, and she loves to talk to her when they are together. Penny is shy, and hasn't wanted to come out of her condo here at The Cat Hut when the kittens are out playing, so we don't know how well she gets along with them. Penny has been getting one-on-one time attention from a volunteer that regularly comes to The Cat Hut, and she has shown us that she is very friendly and loves to cuddle and be pet! Penny's Adoption Fee has been Sponsored! That means that there is no cost to the family that takes her home! Meet all our cats and kittens at The Cat Hut! 1118 2nd St. in Webster City. Story
Stormy, Misty, and two other cats all came to The Cat Hut after being abandoned when their owner moved. The owner came back for the two other cats, and left Stormy and Misty with us to find forever homes. Stormy and Misty are daughter and mom. Stormy has less orange and more black than her mom Misty. Stormy and Misty's previous home also had two dogs that lived there, so Stormy would quickly be able to get used to a home that had dogs again. Stormy is a friendly girl that likes to be pet, and will rub up against you to let you know that she's there and ready for love! Stormy's Adoption Fee has been Sponsored! That means there is no cost to the lucky family that gets to take Stormy home! Meet all our cats and kittens at The Cat Hut! 1118 2nd St. in Webster City.
