Story
Vanilla Wafer is a cute 9-month old female kitty (possible Torbie/Calico/Tabby mix)j who was brought to the HSOV on April 30, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found her on Scammel Street in Marietta Ohio. Vanilla Wafer has a unique brown tabby/orange tabby/white shorthaired coat, a long ringed tail, and a beautiful (rather mischievous-looking) face with golden eyes, a white stripe on her forehead, a pink/brown nose, a white muzzle, and long white whiskers. This little cookie has a happy, outgoing personality and is full of playful kitten antics. Vanilla Wafer was given vaccinations and Pyrantel dewormer on April 30, 2026. She weighed 6 lbs that day. Since she was not reclaimed, Vanilla Wafer was spayed on May 4th 2026 and was also given rabies vaccine. She is a petite young lady who weighed 5.14 lbs that day. Vanilla Wafer is currently in The Jungle Room where most of our adoptable cats are housed. She is ready to begin interviewing applicants to decide which individual/family she will choose to go home with (smile). We guarantee you that there will never be a dull moment with Vanilla Wafer by your side. Happy Update: Vanilla Wafer was adopted on May 16, 2026.

Story
Stella is a beautiful female Calico kitten who was surrendered by her owner on July 24, 2025 along with her two sisters (Meeko and RJ) and her brother (Hammy). The kittens were 4-months old at that time. Stella has a black/orange/white short smooth coat in a calico pattern, a long tail, and a classic black/orange Calico face with golden eyes, a wide orange stripe on her muzzle/forehead, and long white whiskers. Stella was spayed on September 23, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. She weighed 5 lbs that day. Stella and her siblings dearly love each other, but they are still working on their social skills with regard to their people friends. They have made progress in our shelter since their arrival, but they are not yet ready to be held in your arms or snuggle up on your lap. We believe that they would do much better in a home environment with a family or individual who has the experience/patience to let them acclimate to their new home (realizing they may choose to hide for awhile until you gain their trust). The siblings have been separated into pairs so that they will have a best friend for comfort/security: [Stella & Meeko] and [Hammy & RJ] Stella and her sister Meeko (a beautiful Chocolate Point Siamese kitten) shared a cage (and later a cat tower) in our shelter and were quite compatible. They were listed as a bonded pair. Update: Meeko and Stella went home with a foster family on November 23, 2025 and were still available for adoption at that time. Foster notes/update June 3, 2026: Like many young siblings as they mature, Stella and Meeko are no longer a bonded pair (and they don't always see eye-to-eye which results in sibling rivalry and frequent spats with each other). It seems that Stella (true to her Calico reputation) has a bit of a cat-i-tude. Update: Meeko is currently enjoying the freedom of being at the River City Kitty Cafe' (Broughton's Complex, 635 SR 821, Building 3, Suite B, Marietta Ohio) where she is available for adoption through the HSOV. Stella is still with her foster family who reports that she is doing well in her home as a 'single child' (smile). Stella is friendly with her people friends, but she is not a snuggler/cuddler. Stella is looking for a home with a special person/family who has the patience to let her acclimate to her new home on her own time schedule (and realizing that she may hide for awhile until she begins to trust you).

Story
Chip is a cute 2-1/2 year old female Dilute Calico kitty who was surrendered by her family on March 31, 2026 along with her companion (Ursa) who had shared their home. Chip has a white/pale gray/beige short smooth coat in dilute calico pattern, a long gray/beige tail, and an adorable face with dark golden eyes, a pink nose, and long white whiskers. This little sweetheart has a friendly, rather demure, personality. We know that Chip is wondering what on earth happened to have lost the freedom of her home and why she is now in a small cage by herself. Chip had been in her home for two years~ Chip was given vaccinations and Pyrantel dewormer on April 1, 2026. Like most cats, Chip was enamored with the Girl Scout Cookie cardboard box which a group of Girl Scouts donated after their cookie sale was over. Chip loved the cookie box so much that she chose to pose for her Petfinder/Facebook photos in the box (smile). Chip was spayed on April 6, 2026 and was also given rabies vaccine. She is a petite little lady who weighed just 4.9 lbs that day. Chip is ready to find another loving home with someone special who will give her time to acclimate to a new environment. Update: Chip was adopted on May 26, 2026.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi! My name is Lydia. My babies and I were found outside the Sistersville City Building by two nice ladies. They called the Olive Branch for help. I needed a safe place to take care of my babies. Both of my babies have long since been adopted, but here I am...waiting. I don't understand why. I'm a very nice kitty. I'm a litte bit shy at first, but I'm looking for ear scratches and attention in no time. I get along well with the other cats, and I don't seem to mind dogs, as long as they aren't too nosey.  I'll make a great companion for someone who is looking for a bright eyed girl like me! I have been spayed, combo tested and vaccinated. If you would like to meet me, call 304-652-1010 to set up a time.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 12, 2026, 8:22 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Mary Francis! This beautiful stray was found and brought to the shelter by a kind-hearted citizen. True to her name, Miss Mary is a little contrary at the moment! She’s still adjusting (loudly!) to life off the streets and isn’t quite sure what to make of her new situation. You can hear her coming from a mile away with her unique meow.  She is very talkative and will let you know when she isn't getting enough attention.  Her ears and coloring make her stand out amongst the rest. Story
Yeti is a handsome 6-year old male kitty who was brought to the HSOV on March 11, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Florence Street in Belpre Ohio. Yeti was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. Yeti has a snow white short-haired coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with golden eyes, a pink nose, and long white whiskers. Yeti was given vaccinations and Pyrantel dewormer on March 12, 2026. He weighed 9.1 lbs that day. Yeti was given booster vaccines on March 31, 2026. This sweet boy has a quiet, easygoing personality and loves attention. Yeti was examined by one of our local veterinarians on March 24th and was diagnosed as being diabetic, so he is being listed as a ‘Special Needs Kitty’ for that reason. Yeti has been given daily insulin injections and is doing very well thanks to his veterinarian who has been monitoring dosages (and the excellent care from our HSOV Feline Kennel Techs). Yeti is currently enjoying a triple-decker cat tower in the lobby of our shelter. He is ready to find a fabulous home with an individual or family who is experienced in caring for a diabetic kitty. Yeti was already neutered when he entered our shelter, so he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application.

Story
Bowser is a handsome 8-year old male kitty who was surrendered by his owner on May 2, 2026 along with his housemate/companion (Lilly). Their owner was moving and couldn't have pets in the new residence. Bowser has a dark brown tabby-and-white shorthaired coat, a long ringed ring, and an adorable chubby tabby-and-white face with dark golden eyes, a brown tabby 'mustache' on his white muzzle, and extra-long white eyebrows and whiskers. This good-looking guy has a sweet disposition and comes to the front of his cage in anticipation of attention when anyone walks by. Bowser was given vaccinations and Pyrantel dewormer on May 8, 2026. He weighed 8 lbs that day. Since Bowser has already been neutered, he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application. He would love to be back in a home with someone special to love him as much as his previous owner did.

Story
Grady is a handsome 14-year old male kitty who was surrendered by his owner on April 29, 2026. This senior gentleman has a gray short smooth coat, a long darker gray tail, and an adorable face with golden eyes, a gray velvet nose, and long white whiskers. Grady has a quiet, rather shy, personality. He loves to snuggle up beneath his blankets for a sense of security. Grady does not get along with other cats, and he would do best in a quiet home without dogs since they tend to stress him out too much. Grady weighs 9 lbs. Grady has already been neutered. He is also front-paw declawed, so he would need to be an exclusive indoor-only kitty.
