Story
Morticia is a beautiful 3-year old female kitty who was surrendered by her owner on May 20, 2023 along with her 3-month old kitten (Wednesday) and two one-year old male kitties (Gomez and Pugsley). Morticia has a sleek black short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with dark golden eyes, a black velvet nose, and long black whiskers. This lovely mother kitty is understandably frightened being in a small cage when she enjoyed the freedom of her very own home for several years. Morticia and her kitten Wednesday are sharing a cage so that they may provide comfort/security for each other. Momma and baby dearly love each other. Morticia was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on May 24, 2023. she weighed 6 lbs that day. Morticia was spayed on May 30, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine. She weighed 6.04 lbs that day. Since Morticia has been spayed, she is ready to find a loving home either through adoption or rescue. Naturally we'd love for Morticia and Wednesday to find a home together. Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.

Morticia has a sleek black short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with dark golden eyes, a black velvet nose, and long black whiskers. This lovely mother kitty was understandably frightened being in a small cage when we took preliminary photos on May 25th since she had enjoyed the freedom of her very own home for several years. These updated photos were taken on June 6, 2023, and we were happy to see that Morticia was beginning to relax and to trust that our HSOV kennel techs are her new best friends who love her unconditionally. Since Morticia has been spayed, she is ready to find a loving home either through adoption or rescue. Naturally we'd love for Morticia and Wednesday to find a home together. Story
Cinnamon Twist is a beautiful 3-year old female kitty who was found on Second Street in Marietta Ohio on October 29, 2023 after she had been hit by an automobile. Fortunately for this sweet cat, a compassionate Good Samaritan acted quickly and brought her to HSOV and the safety of our shelter. Cinnamon Twist has an unusual combination of colors/patterns. She has a pretty face with gray/beige/white markings which are characteristic of a dilute calico kitty. She has a brown/bronze coat and a long ringed tail which is more characteristic of a Torbie/Tabby kitty. Our kind HSOV Kennel Techs gave Cinnamon preliminary first-aid care that afternoon/evening, and she was taken to one of wonderful local veterinarians the following day. X-rays showed that Cinnamon had suffered a fractured pelvis and had a broken femoral bone. She is back in our shelter where she will be resting comfortably with pain medications for the next two weeks. Hopefully she will be able to undergo surgery at a later date. We are posting this beautiful girl's pictures on Petfinder and Adoptapet as well as our HSOV Facebook pages in hopes that she has a loving family who is looking for her and will know she is safely in our shelter. Since she was not reclaimed, Cinnamon Twist was spayed on May 8, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Story
Miss Daisy is a beautiful 1-1/2 year old female kitty who was brought to the HSOV on December 9, 2023 by Good Samaritans who had learned of Miss Daisy's sad story and wanted desperately to find her the best home ever.... Miss Daisy had been living near two motels (and a restaurant) in Marietta Ohio and was being fed by kind employees at those business establishments after they realized that Miss Daisy was also taking care of her newborn kittens. When the kittens were about 5-6 weeks old, employees found homes for the kittens ... And the Good Samaritans gained Miss Daisy's confidence and were able to entice her into a cat carrier. They were unsure if (sigh) Miss Daisy might be pregnant again, so we quickly reached out to one of our wonderful foster kitty mothers who agreed to give Miss Daisy a temporary home where she will be able to give birth to her babies if she is pregnant .. And if she turns out not to be pregnant, we will have her spayed and find her a fantastic home. Miss Daisy has a brown tabby short smooth coat with white highlights on her chest, a long ringed tail, and a pretty face with golden eyes, a dusting of white on her muzzle, a brown velvet nose, and long white whiskers. This lovely young lady has a sweet, affectionate personality and a rather shy disposition. Miss Daisy enjoys petting (as long as you take things slow .. and she doesn't really like to be petted on her head/neck). Miss Daisy was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on December 9, 2023. She weighed 8.7 lbs that day. UPDATE: We breathed a sigh of relief when Miss Daisy had been in foster care for two months with no signs of being pregnant! Miss Daisy was returned to our shelter on January 29th since she was not pregnant and will soon be available for adoption. She was spayed on January 30, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. She weighed 8.4 lbs that day.

Story
Lexi (fka Lyla) is a gorgeous 10-year old female kitty who was surrendered by her owner on June 28, 2024 because the family's landlord would permit only one cat to remain in their apartment. Lexi has a beautifully-marked white-and-dark brown tabby short smooth coat, a long ringed tail, and an adorable face with golden eyes, a chocolate brown splotch on her nose, and long white whiskers. Lyla has a rather flat 'smooshed' facial appearance (stubby nose, short muzzle, and round chubby face) which makes her even more adorable. Lexi likes children and gets along well with them. She has not been around dogs or other cats. Lexi has a sweet, rather shy, personality and is quite friendly. She is understandably 'out of her element' in a small shelter cage, but Lexi graciously posed like a 'pro' in spite of her apprehension. Lexi was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on March 7, 2024. She weighed 9 lbs that day. Lexi was combo tested on March 27th and is negative for feline leukemia and FIV. Lexi has already been spayed. She has also been front-paw declawed, so she would be required to be an exclusive indoor-only kitty. Lexi is allergic to red dye in cat chow and will cause vomiting if she eats food that contains red dye. She needs to remain on a dye-free cat chow diet such as Purina Cat Chow Naturals or a similar food. This big girl would love to find another home asap either through adoption or rescue. Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.

Meet Monty. He is a beautiful 4 year old boy who is not a needy cat, to the point of being aloof at times. He does have a curious and playful side to him that he will show on his terms (He is quite fond of chasing the red dot) Monty's desperately seeking a forever family. He enjoyed being in the community room at the shelter with other cats and had close companionship with some of them. One of them in particular is Marie. These two enjoyed cuddling up together in the cat beds in the room. Recently Marie and Monty were given the chance to be housed together at the SPOT Clinic. They are continuing to settle in and getting the chance to have more individual time spent with staff. Monty is FIV + and can live with other cats and provided they do not fight he should not spread the virus. Come meet this distinguished fella and speak with the staff on he can be adding to your life!
