Story
Meet Josie! Josie is a beautiful girl of 1 year and 5 months who has been here at FCAR since June! This little girl is curious and very attentive of her surroundings! She enjoys human attention and is often found asking those passing by her kennel to stop and chat with her!Since joining us, Josie has been diagnosed with Feline Herpes Virus (aka feline viral rhinotracheitis or FVR). What does this mean? FVR is a virus cats commonly are exposed to that can lead to symptoms such as upper respiratory/ eye problems. Don't let that scare you. While it is suggested that they not live with cats that are not also FVR+, with proper nutrition, an indoor lifestyle, and regular vet checkups cats with FVR can live long, happy lives! For more information we encourage you to check out this link,https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/respiratory-infections and of course consult your veterinarian. If you think Josie is the girl for you, we encourage you to apply today! If you have any additional questions about Josie or about our adoption process in general, please feel free to reach out to us at info@fcarpets.org"We're so excited you're interested in adopting a new furry friend! To help us find the perfect match for you and our animals, we're pre-approving applicants. Here's how it works:Please start by filling out our adoption application: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=rz1556&method=online_form_html&formid=6This helps us learn more about you, including which animal you're interested in, your family, any other pets you have, your living situation (owning or renting), and your veterinarian. We understand that if you don't currently have pets, you won't have a vet reference. In that case, we kindly ask for a personal reference instead. Why we ask these questions:We want to make sure we find the best possible fit for both you and the animal. For renters, we need to confirm with your landlord that pets are allowed, as unfortunately, many landlords in Franklin County have restrictions.Checking with your veterinarian helps us ensure that our animals receive the ongoing medical care they deserve. What happens next:Once we receive positive references from your landlord (if applicable) and veterinarian (or personal reference), we'll contact you to schedule an appointment if you're interested in adopting a dog.If you're looking for a feline friend, you're welcome to come in anytime during our open hours!Important information:Adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the date your application is approved. We're truly grateful for the overwhelming interest in our animals! Our staff is working diligently to approve applications as quickly as possible. While it may take a few days, most applications are approved sooner.Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to find loving homes for our wonderful animals!"
