Story
Hi, I’m Leo, an 8-year-old Kuwaiti Canaan Dog, and my journey hasn’t been easy, but I’m still here, full of life and love! ❤️ Let me tell you a little about my story—it's one of survival, strength, and second chances. I was just a 5-month-old puppy when I was hit by a car, beaten, and tossed in a dumpster in Kuwait. 😢 But after months of recovery, I was sent to New Jersey in the summer of 2019. At first, everything seemed great, but as the colder weather arrived, I started acting strange and showing aggression towards strangers. I was growling, and the shelter thought I was unadoptable. They were going to put me down, but the Kuwait rescue reached out to PUP, and they rushed to save me. Turns out, I was having trouble adjusting to the bone pain that comes with cold weather—I wasn’t used to seasons! But there was more to it. I had Ehrlichiosis, a tick-borne illness that was causing pain too. After some treatment and pain management, I was back to being my happy, energetic self, ready to play and cuddle! 🐾💕 I was adopted by a family, but unfortunately, they didn’t manage my illness, and I was returned to PUP in February 2024 in bad shape. I had a fever, but after some care and attention, my Ehrlichiosis cleared up, and my arthritis was managed. Now, I’m back to my playful, loving self. On rainy or cold days, I need a little extra care, but I’m still the life of the party! 🎉 I’m a happy-go-lucky guy who loves to play, run, and be the life of the party. I adore people (I really do!), I'm also convinced that I am a lap dog. I get along great with cats, dogs, and kids. BUT, when I’m not feeling well, I may growl at strangers—this is just me telling you I need a vet check. It’s not aggression, just a way for me to communicate that something’s wrong. Here’s the deal: I need a family who understands that I require routine medical management for my tick-borne illness and occasional arthritis. When I’m feeling great, I’m the best buddy—full of love, butt scratches, cuddles, and playtime. 🐾❤️ Adopt Leo, and you’ll have a loyal, playful companion who will bring joy and love to your life. 💖 Let’s make some new memories, together! Story
Hi, I’m Biscuit—a 6-year-old Jordanian Canaan Dog, and I’ve got a story to share! 🐾 I was born in Jordan, but I ended up in the U.S. with another rescue that didn’t quite understand me. They thought I was feral and were going to have me put down—but really, I just didn’t speak English! 😅 Thankfully, PUP stepped in and saved my life and they taught me everything I need to know. Now, I’m fluent in English and ready to share my love with the right family. 🇯🇴 I’m a soft, beautiful girl—seriously, I’m the softest dog you’ll ever meet. I love being petted (can’t get enough of it, really), and I’m incredibly affectionate. But don’t let my softness fool you—I’m a guard dog at heart! I can be barrier protective, and I take my job of keeping you safe very seriously. Once I trust you, I’ll melt into a puddle of love (and maybe roll over for belly rubs). 😋❤️ I’m super smart and eager to please, so I’ll do anything to make you proud. But I do need to be introduced to new people properly—I’m a little cautious at first, but once I know you’re okay, we’re good to go! 👫 When it comes to other dogs, I only like male dogs my size or larger (and no cats for me, thank you very much 🐱❌). I’m a little much for younger kids, so I’d be happiest in a home with older kids (15+). I can be a bit of a human bulldozer when I’m excited! 😂 I’m a silly, playful, and super loyal girl who just wants to love and be loved. So, if you’re ready for an adorable, energetic bundle of joy who will adore you forever, AND have experience with Guardian breeds, I’m your girl. Let’s start our adventure together—I promise it’ll be full of laughs, cuddles, and lots of love! 🐕💖

Bow Down, Mortals—Queen Berry Has Arrived! 👑 Oh, hello there. Were you perhaps looking for the most fabulous, chaotic, and downright unstoppable dog on the planet? Well, congratulations, you found me—Berry, the Jordanian Canaan Shepherd mix, Queen of Sass, Destroyer of Clean Floors, and Ruler of Puddles Everywhere. Now, let’s get one thing straight: I may not have back legs, but what disability? I scoot, I slide, I zoom, and when I want something, nothing stands in my way. Not furniture, not baby gates, not your flimsy attempts to keep me out of the snack cabinet. I always get what I want. My journey to greatness began with an international scandal. That’s right, I was quarantined at JFK Airport in 2020 because of a typo. A typo. The CDC thought I was a public health risk because, apparently, being fabulous and paralyzed was too much for them to handle. But guess what? Five members of Congress got involved in my case. FIVE. Especially my friends Tom Souzzi and Lee Zeldin, they’re both pretty cool. When was the last time politicians agreed on anything? That’s the level of star power I have. Eventually, I was freed from quarantine, and thanks to my friends at Paws Unite People, I got the medical care I needed. Fast forward to now: I am thriving. I don’t need a wheelchair—turns out, I’m way too fast and fabulous without one. I scoot around like a furry little torpedo of chaos, making messes, splashing through puddles, and keeping everyone on their toes. I love kids, dogs, and cats, and they all love me because, honestly, I’m irresistible. If you’re looking for a sweet, sassy, unstoppable queen who will fill your life with laughter, joy, and the occasional unexpected mess, I am your girl. Just remember: I always get what I want. Adopt Berry. Embrace the chaos. 👑

Story
Bandit has already overcome more in his short life than most dogs ever should. At just 3 months old and 12 pounds, this sweet boy was abandoned on the side of a road in Puerto Rico alongside his sister, suffering from a severe skin condition that left him uncomfortable, vulnerable, and without anyone to care for him. Thankfully, rescue stepped in before it was too late. Today, Bandit is fully healed and absolutely thriving. Now that he's healthy, his fun-loving personality shines through every day. Bandit is incredibly friendly, playful, and always ready for an adventure. He loves meeting new people, making friends, and turning ordinary moments into playtime. He's the kind of puppy who approaches life with pure joy and enthusiasm. Bandit is wonderful with children and would make an amazing family dog. He loves attention, enjoys being part of the action, and has the perfect mix of playful energy and affectionate sweetness. After a day of fun, he's more than happy to curl up beside his people for cuddles and a well-earned nap. After such a difficult start, Bandit deserves a lifetime of love, safety, and happiness. He has left his painful past behind and is ready to start his next chapter with a family who will cherish him forever. Could Bandit be the missing piece your family has been waiting for?
