Story
Duke, 6yrs, Male, Cane Corso, Brindle, 150# Duke is an amazing boy, but he is all Corso. Only homes with guardian breed experience will be considered for adoption. True to his breed, He is protective of his home and people. Loyal to a fault, he loves his humans. Though he loves kids, due to some resource guarding behavior, he needs a home without young children. Duke is very good on his basic obedience and he is crate trained. He does well with other even temperament dogs and is generally pretty easy going guy. He would be best in a home with no small dogs or cats. His adoptive home must have a 6 foot privacy fence, to keep him safe. And must be (within 50 miles) local to the Saint Louis metropolitan area. Duke's adoption donation is $450.00 and he is up to date and fully vetted. Interested adopters must submit an adoption application through our website, steppingstonebully.org to be considered.

Story
CELLAR   Cane Corso  5 years young, no seriously with my health and demeanor I'm closer to 2. 75 pounds of love and muscle   Dog friendly, aka "Must Love Dogs" Cat curious. I need supervision, but I'm not prey driven. Kid friendly. They're my favorite.    Crate trained, though it wouldn't be my first choice.  Potty trained.          No pooping in the house ever.           No peeing in the house since my baby making duo disappeared.  Leash trained, unless I see a beautiful lady dog. Who can blame me?  Virtual training session(s) donated to help with adjusting to a new home.    Despite my name being Cellar, I don't want to live in a dreary basement. I want to be where the people are. You just sang that like Ariel in The Little Mermaid, didn't you? I understand why she sang about it. Humans and animals are my 'jam', especially kids. They're the best. Just watch my tail. I can't help it, my happiness takes over and I have to dance it out from my head down to my tail.    Other dogs come in close second to humans. I'm all about the play and companionship. Now cats- they're suspicious creatures. One where I currently live likes to tease me under the door. What's that about? Some run from me. I just stand there confused why they don't want to be my friend. If they don't hide, I try to play with them the same way I play with my dog buddies. They don't seem to appreciate my banter. 'Dogs are from Mars, Cats are from Venus'. Am I right? Maybe I'll figure them out soon.    Anyway, I'd love to make more friends and family. What do you say, adopt me?!? If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Cellar’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
Hi I'm Runtz! I came to the shelter with my 3 other siblings. Our mom was a Blue Heeler mix and our dad was a Cane Corso mix- so I'll likely be a medium sized boy but with the great personality mix of the two breeds! I'm a little shy as I haven't had much experience in this world but I'm sweet and willing to learn it with you! Give a sweet boy like me a chance and take me home.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2744924##
