Story
Deuce is a 12-year-old, 86-pound gentle giant with a heart just as big as his paws. Though he’s listed as a senior, this sweet boy still has plenty of pep in his step—he enjoys playtime just as much as he loves a good nap by your side. Deuce is easy to handle out of the kennel and walks well on leash, especially with a harness. He may pull a bit at first, but he quickly settles into a comfortable rhythm. He appears to be potty trained, marking outside but having no accidents inside. He absolutely *loves* car rides—head out the window soaking in all the sights and smells. He just needs a little boost into taller vehicles, but would hop right into a regular car with ease. Deuce is both treat and toy motivated, takes treats gently, and knows “sit.” He’s always up for a game of fetch and even brings the toy back most of the time! Once playtime is over, he’s ready to curl up beside you for pets and belly rubs. This affectionate boy is wonderful for baths, shows positive body language with other dogs, and adores every person he meets. Deuce has that perfect blend of playful energy and calm companionship—he’s truly the sweetest boy, ready to fill his forever home with love and warmth. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
? Meet Zucchini — Proof That Miracles Can Happen ?Zucchini came to us as a stray, but unlike most strays, this handsome big guy had a microchip! We contacted the registered owner and learned an incredible story: three years ago, while the owner was away at basic training, he left Zucchini in someone’s care. During that time, he was told that Zucchini had either been lost or had passed away. You can imagine the shock and joy when he found out Zucchini was not only alive, but healthy and safe with us! ?? Unfortunately, he is no longer living in the U.S., and as much as he wanted to, he wasn’t able to reclaim his beloved dog. So now, a brand-new chapter begins for Zucchini — and we hope it’s the happily-ever-after he and his former owner both deserve. This 8-year-old, 108-pound (yes, really!) Cane Corso/Mastiff mix is a stunning brindle boy with a heart to match his size. During his time here, he met a smaller spayed female who was a bit unsure at first — understandable given that he’s basically a tank — and she let him know with a little correction. Zucchini responded by backing off, regrouping, and returning with loose, wiggly body greetings. Soon enough, she was wiggling too!Our medical team has officially dubbed him a big GOOFY boy, suspecting that he may even be housebroken.?? If you’re looking for a giant furry companion and want to give Zucchini the forever family he truly deserves, please come meet him at:430 Bristol Drive, Statesville. We always recommend meet & greets with other dogs and children before adoption to help ensure the best match for everyone. And given his size, this is something you will want to do with Zucchini!?? Remember the 3-3-3 Rule When Adopting:3 Days: Your new pet may feel overwhelmed or unsure.3 Weeks: They begin to settle in and learn your household routine.3 Months: They feel secure, confident, and fully part of the family.?? Zucchini – A313700• 8 years old• Neutered male• 108 pounds (not a typo!)• Microchipped• UTD on vaccines/preventatives at ICAS• Adoption fee: 8??0??Let’s find Zucchini the forever family he was always meant to have — for him, and in honor of his original dad who loved him so much. ??#adoptfromicas #myicasrescue

Story
Shadow just turned a year old this month and he is such a sweet boy. He can be clumsy because his paws are so big and he’s so energetic. His best friend is a Chihuahua and when outside playing he doesn’t chase the cats but tries to smell them. He is extremely playful and loves being outside. He stays close by in the yard and when called to come he does. He knows how to sit and shake we are working on getting him to lay down and he is still working on the command stay. My best friend is 3 years old and I take shadow on visits maybe once a month and he’s amazing with the children, when he gets exited he can get a little jumpy so sometimes it’s best to let him run outside and play with others to tire him out a bit before playing with the kids. He’s also scared of the dark if you leave him in a room by himself so I leave a nightlight on when I go to work. Treats work wonders for him and he loves his feeding times, he goes straight into his crate, he knows to use the bathroom outside.
