Story
Bear has been patiently waiting for his forever family for over six months, and during that time, he has made incredible progress. While he still takes time to trust new people and unfamiliar situations, the shy boy who first arrived at the shelter has grown into a much more confident dog. Bear has shown us that, with patience and consistency, he continues to blossom at his own pace. He isn't the type of dog who will instantly settle into a new home—but for the person willing to give him the time he needs, the reward will be immeasurable.
During a trial adoption, we learned so much about who Bear is outside of the shelter. He absolutely loves spending time outdoors, happily exploring the yard and soaking up the fresh air. He also knows how to use a doggie door, making the transition into home life a little easier. Toys are still a bit of a mystery to him, but it's been heartwarming to watch his curiosity grow. Every day, he becomes a little braver and a little more interested in discovering how to simply be a dog.
Bear is looking for a very special home—one that understands that trust can't be rushed. He will need an exceptionally patient family who is willing to let him set the pace, giving him plenty of space, grace, and time to adjust. It may take months, or even longer, before Bear feels completely at home, but every small milestone will be worth celebrating. Once you've earned his trust, you'll have a loyal companion who chose you with his whole heart.
Bear does well with most other dogs and may even benefit from a calm, confident canine friend to help show him the ropes. If you're the kind of person who believes that the best things in life are worth waiting for, Bear is waiting for you. His perfect future isn't about becoming a different dog—it's about finding the person who will love him exactly as he is and give him the chance to become everything he's meant to be.
