Story
Joey is the sweetest boy who had an unimaginable start. A Good Samaritan called Animal Control to report seeing Joey left in a wire crate in the neighbor's backyard with no food or water. He was very emaciated when animal control confiscated him. We are thrilled to be able to give him the second chance he deserves. Joey is thriving with a wonderful Every Pet’s Dream foster family. Joey is a young, mischievous, loving, affectionate, playful, sweet, snuggly pup! Energy Level? Typical puppy level energy House trained? Mostly.  Still some accidents but doing well Describe how they are on leash? Great.  A little pulling, but not excessive.  Describe how they are with other dogs? Good. A little nervous but not skidding. Friendly and interested  Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they? He did fine meeting a cat, but of course, slow safe introductions are always recommended. Commands they know? Learning to sit, leave it, no, and stay  What are their favorite things? Playing with the resident dog in his foster home and snuggling.  He really loves going on walks. What do they need to work on?  Not getting into mischief! Basic commands. Your home will need to be puppy proofed  as he hasn't learned that everything isn't a chew toy, including your shoes and socks. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  Joey  tends to sneak into things when he’s alone and make mischief. Hasn’t been alone more than 1 hour at a time.  He needs to be confined to his crate for safety. Where do they sleep? In his dog bed What is their ideal home? Joey would love to be in a home with another dog to play with. With a family that will love on him and give him attention, walks and lots of pets. We have guesstimated Joey's Breed.  We have not completed his DNA. Our Adoption fee is $325.   For adoption consideration or to meet our dogs , please complete our online application:   www.everypetsdream.org/adopt  and  we will have everything we need to know to call you back and set up an appointment.  Follow us:  Facebook  and  Instagram   November 5, 2024, 12:10 am

Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereKirby is checking off the good dog boxes! He is still a shy boy who’s going to need time to get to know you before you get all of those sweet Kirby snuggles, but we think it’s okay for some of our dogs to be more selective about their friends. Adorable face? &#226&#156&#133 Party Ear? &#226&#156&#133 House trained? &#226&#156&#133 Good with some Cats?? &#226&#156&#133 Kirby has been in a few different foster homes with different cats, and he's gotten along with some of them--with others, he's been a bit of a brat. If you have a confident cat who will stand up to him, and are willing to do a slow, careful introduction, they might get along fine! Foster mom reports: As first time fosters, we can say that Kirby is quite easy to deal with: he needed some time to adjust and settle down, but he is now very respectful of our daily routine. He is quite independent during the day while I work from home: he is learning to go to the backyard by himself and most of the day, he plays with/chews on his toys in between naps. He enjoys quick walks and play-time during my breaks and I love when he randomly just places his chin on my leg and looks at me with his puppy eyes, asking for attention (it happens quite often and it's just so cute). He has also learnt that, when it gets dark outside and he hears steps out of the door, there is no need to bark or get alarmed, as it's my partner coming home from work and he welcomes them with the happiest dance ever. He would do great in a quiet place with one/some working-from-home humans as a solo-dog. If you are interested in adopting him, you will get a dog with his own personal brand, as we have just home-brewed a few IPAs and printed Kirby labels!  As one of his former fosters wrote: “My favorite Kirby activity, second to snuggling, was watching him play catch with himself. He would bounce his favorite ball for himself, off the floor and straight into his mouth. His joy is contagious!”  He also was easy going in a foster home with cats previously.  Want to get in on that joy, but not totally sure about adoption? Kirby has been selected for our pilot foster-to-adopt program. You can keep Kirby out of the shelter, and see if he might be the right fit for you!  A smaller guy at 32 pounds, Kirby is only about 3 years old, and he needs to be the only dog in the home.
