ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis. We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes. Meet Nick – A Smart, Determined, and Loving Companion! Named after the brilliant blind scientist and mathematician Nicholas Saunderson, Nick is an intelligent and affectionate 8-year-old Carolina Dog, weighing in at 72 lbs. Despite being blind, he navigates the world with confidence and an incredible sense of smell—he’s an independent thinker who prefers to figure things out on his own! Nick is friendly with female dogs once properly introduced, though he may initially react defensively due to his blindness. He has overcome his initial curiosity and now does well with the resident cats. He absolutely loves his twice-daily walks and patiently waits while you put on his walking vest. However, he’s a strong puller, especially when he catches an interesting scent or wants to meet a new friend, so he’ll need someone capable of handling his enthusiasm. Nick is house-trained, crate-trained, and up-to-date on vaccinations. He’s looking for a patient, loving home that will appreciate his intelligence, resilience, and affectionate nature.
