Story
Hello, my name is Bridgette (DOB 07/11/25). I’m a sweet, shy girl who loves to play and run around with the other dogs in my foster home. I even like to hang around with the cat when she lets me. I like playing with my toys and outside in the fenced in yard. Right now I’m learning how to walk on a leash and that I need to go potty outside. I’m getting better at it, but I still have my accidents from time to time. At bedtime, I’m really good about going into my crate, especially with a tasty treat. It can take me time to warm up to new people because I can be really shy. I’m also not too big on hugs and cuddles, although I will give kisses to people I’m comfortable with. I’ll ask for pets when I’m ready for them, but dance away when I’m not in the mood. I’m looking for the perfect furever family who will be loving and patient with me. Is that you? Please apply and let's meet! ***PLEASE NOTE*** This pup has not yet been altered and requires an extra $100 spay/neuter deposit. JCAPL will pay for the procedure at a partner clinic and once completed, the deposit will be refunded to the adopter. However, a non-local adopter is required to pay for the spay/neuter at their own veterinarian by a specific date. After proof of the procedure is provided, $50 of the adoption fee will be refunded with the deposit. *** Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be submitted online, or sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org, or faxed to 919-300-5524. We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. *** Thanks for thinking adoption! ***

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Monty requires an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can meet him. If you are interested in Monty, please submit an application now!  Here is the  link:   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC .      Monty is a 3-year-old, 40-pound mixed breed boy. He is a nervous Nelly with strangers and does not believe in instant friendships. He wants to be a protector, but his courage is mostly theoretical and often accompanied by full-body trembling and at least 6 feet of distance from the perceived “threat.” Think “security system with anxiety.” Monty loves other dogs and truly needs a confident dog friend in his future home. Another dog helps him feel safe and grounded. He is also cat-friendly and horse friendly.  Walks and car rides? Hard no. Monty is a proud homebody who believes the backyard is the pinnacle of outdoor living. He is not your hiking buddy. He is your “let’s stay home and watch TV” buddy. Once Monty decides you are safe (this takes time, patience, and respect), he turns into an absolute sweetheart who craves affection and attention. He bonds deeply, loves hard, and will stick close to his person like a tiny, emotionally dependent shadow. Sometimes Monty is scared of things that aren’t obvious to the humans in the house. Maybe the wind? Maybe the weather? Maybe a discrete noise? Maybe a ghost?  Monty would thrive in a calm, understanding home with another friendly dog, a sense of humor, and people who don’t take his quirks personally. If you’re willing to meet him where he is, Monty will reward you with loyalty, love, and a lifetime of watching you very closely to make sure you’re okay. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    We prefer that applicants live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care that might be needed during the two week trial period prior to adoptions being finalized.  For the right home for Monty, we may consider applicants who live further away.     INTERESTED IN ADOPTING MONTY?
