You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Monty requires an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can meet him. If you are interested in Monty, please submit an application now!  Here is the  link:   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC .      Meet Monty! Monty is a sweet, ~3 year-old, 30-pound mixed breed looking for a patient and loving forever home. He’s a timid at first and will need a family that understands the importance of giving him time to learn to trust.   Monty thrives around other dogs and will need a confident, friendly dog companion in his new home to help guide him and bring out his playful side. A fenced-in yard is a must so Monty can run around and enjoy playtime with his furry BFF.   Once Monty feels safe, his true personality shines—he’s a total attention-seeker who adores affection! He loves playing with toys and enjoys time with his dog buddies.   While he’s house-trained and crate-trained, Monty is still working on leash confidence. He much prefers backyard adventures to walks around the neighborhood. Monty is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and dewormed. If you’re ready to give Monty the love and patience he needs, and have a playful pup to show him the ropes, he’ll be your loyal friend for life!   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    We prefer that applicants live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care that might be needed during the two week trial period prior to adoptions being finalized.  For the right home for Monty, we may consider applicants who live further away.     INTERESTED IN ADOPTING MONTY? ******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Florence (Flora), 3 years old, spayed female, Carolina Dog mix, 46 pounds. She is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. Florence, affectionately nicknamed, Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a playful and energetic dog who loves to wrestle and be chased. She would do best in a home with dogs of similar size and energy level. When playing, Flora could play for hours. She loves to interact with another dog in the home, Furman by licking his face. Flora has experience playing with dogs ranging from a 35-pound Cocker Spaniel to a 60-pound Pyrenees mix. Flora requires slow and guided introductions to other dogs. She has shown some leash reactivity, exhibiting behaviors like raised hair, whimpering and barking. Her foster parents have worked with her on this behavior. It did take her some time to befriend the resident pup, and Flora may do best as the one and only in the home. Flora’s compatibility with cats is unknown. She adores the 8-year-old child in the home, but is nervous of new children. Flora does have stranger danger when new people come into the home, and tends to bark at them, especially when they move around quickly. Because of her fear, she may prefer an adult household at this time. As mentioned, Flora has some leash reactivity and gets easily spooked, often pulling a lot. However, she has made progress with positive reinforcement and minimal stimuli. She walks much better in calm environments with less activity. She will need consistent training to help her with her leash skills and feeling safe around new dogs and stimuli. Flora is fully housebroken. She has demonstrated some anxiety in the crate at home. When her foster parents have gone out of town she has gone to boarding where she is crated with no issues. At home, she is able to be out of a crate and unsupervised with zero issues. She is fed separately from the other dogs in the home. Otherwise, she shares her toys well and has no issues with people and food, although she needs reminders to take treats gently. Flora has high energy needs and requires dedicated outdoor playtimes to do well inside the home. She thrives in a moderately active home with regular outdoor play sessions. She loves playing with the resident dog, bucking around the yard, eating, going for walks, sunbathing, and birdwatching. She is a total love bug and enjoys snuggling. She does well in the car but is terrified of storms, often seeking shelter in a closet or burying her head in a lap. Flora’s ideal home would be with someone who is often around, enjoys walks or jogs, and will play fetch with her. A home with no other pets or a well balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level would be ideal. Flora needs an owner who will continue positive reinforcement to help with her anxiety. Flora is very smart, loves learning new tricks, and is very submissive and affectionate. She may be a work in progress, but will reward you with love and companionship for years to come! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? Story
We got Daisy from the Cumberland County Animal Shelter, and she has always been a sweet dog. She knows tricks - sit, lay down, shake. She is very good with house training - only a couple of accidents when she got sick from eating some human food. She does not get along well with other animals, but this is probably anxiety as she whines (more bark than bite). She has never barked or growled at my 6 year old. She is a good dog but too big for my apartment and landlord doesn't want her here. Please help give her a good home - we do not want to take her back to a shelter. If you give her a good home, you can have her treats, food and water bowls, harness, leash, and a gallon bag of her food for no charge. Thank you.

Story
Sweet Sadie Mae came to us from a supporter who ran into a lady in a local town just wanting to give her away. Afraid she may get in wrong hands, the supporter grabbed her up and called us. Sadie Mae is still a baby and is such a love bug. She gets along with everyone! If you are looking for a puppy, she could be the girl for you. If you think she may be, please continue to read and fill out our on line application. RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. ( we are in Cleveland County NC) Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home. Story
Name / Breed  / Age: Jebecca,  German Shepherd, young dog Personality Traits: The Velcro Pup, Loveable, Unsure but gaining confidence Likes / Dislikes: Loves snuggles, playing with confident canine friends Health and behavior history:  Up to date on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped and  spayed. Currently living in Hurt, Virginia to minimize moves and give her stability while she waits for her forever family. Meet and greets will be initially held virtually. JeBecca is a stunning 14 month old Shepherd mix, about 40 pounds of gentle sweetness, and she is hoping to find the place where she truly belongs. This lovely girl is fully house and crate trained, adores curling up in her cozy bed, and thrives on a predictable routine. She has a tender heart and a soft spirit, so she prefers to take things at her own pace when meeting new people. Give her a little time and kindness, and she will blossom into the most devoted companion who follows you with quiet admiration. JeBecca’s happiest days are spent at daycare, where she shines around other dogs. She especially benefits from confident canine friends who help her feel safe and supported. She has also been around cats and does well with them indoors. She is a peaceful presence overall, rarely vocal, and always thrilled to join you for a ride just to enjoy the journey. Because she can be a bit reserved at first, JeBecca would thrive with patient adopters who understand her need for gentle introductions. A calm home, possibly with another friendly dog to guide her, would help her feel at ease. Loud, bustling environments or homes with small children can be overwhelming for her, so a quieter setting is best. If you are searching for a loyal, affectionate soul who will steadily flourish with love and consistency, JeBecca may be the perfect addition to your life. Apply to connect with our adoptions team and learn more about this sweet girl. ##2208596##
