Story
Sweet Sadie Mae came to us from a supporter who ran into a lady in a local town just wanting to give her away. Afraid she may get in wrong hands, the supporter grabbed her up and called us. Sadie Mae is still a baby and is such a love bug. She gets along with everyone! If you are looking for a puppy, she could be the girl for you. If you think she may be, please continue to read and fill out our on line application. RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. ( we are in Cleveland County NC) Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home. Story
Name / Breed  / Age: Jebecca,  German Shepherd, young dog Personality Traits: The Velcro Pup, Loveable, Unsure but gaining confidence Likes / Dislikes: Loves snuggles, playing with confident canine friends Health and behavior history:  Up to date on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped and  spayed. Currently living in Hurt, Virginia to minimize moves and give her stability while she waits for her forever family. Meet and greets will be initially held virtually. JeBecca is a stunning 14 month old Shepherd mix, about 40 pounds of gentle sweetness, and she is hoping to find the place where she truly belongs. This lovely girl is fully house and crate trained, adores curling up in her cozy bed, and thrives on a predictable routine. She has a tender heart and a soft spirit, so she prefers to take things at her own pace when meeting new people. Give her a little time and kindness, and she will blossom into the most devoted companion who follows you with quiet admiration. JeBecca’s happiest days are spent at daycare, where she shines around other dogs. She especially benefits from confident canine friends who help her feel safe and supported. She has also been around cats and does well with them indoors. She is a peaceful presence overall, rarely vocal, and always thrilled to join you for a ride just to enjoy the journey. Because she can be a bit reserved at first, JeBecca would thrive with patient adopters who understand her need for gentle introductions. A calm home, possibly with another friendly dog to guide her, would help her feel at ease. Loud, bustling environments or homes with small children can be overwhelming for her, so a quieter setting is best. If you are searching for a loyal, affectionate soul who will steadily flourish with love and consistency, JeBecca may be the perfect addition to your life. Apply to connect with our adoptions team and learn more about this sweet girl. ##2208596##

Story
Hello, my name is Bridgette (DOB 07/11/25). I’m a sweet, shy girl who loves to play and run around with the other dogs in my foster home. I even like to hang around with the cat when she lets me. I like playing with my toys and outside in the fenced in yard. Right now I’m learning how to walk on a leash and that I need to go potty outside. I’m getting better at it, but I still have my accidents from time to time. At bedtime, I’m really good about going into my crate, especially with a tasty treat. It can take me time to warm up to new people because I can be really shy. I’m also not too big on hugs and cuddles, although I will give kisses to people I’m comfortable with. I’ll ask for pets when I’m ready for them, but dance away when I’m not in the mood. I’m looking for the perfect furever family who will be loving and patient with me. Is that you? Please apply and let's meet! ***PLEASE NOTE*** This pup has not yet been altered and requires an extra $100 spay/neuter deposit. JCAPL will pay for the procedure at a partner clinic and once completed, the deposit will be refunded to the adopter. However, a non-local adopter is required to pay for the spay/neuter at their own veterinarian by a specific date. After proof of the procedure is provided, $50 of the adoption fee will be refunded with the deposit. *** Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be submitted online, or sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org, or faxed to 919-300-5524. We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. *** Thanks for thinking adoption! ***

Story
The loyal heart you've been looking for Brody is a 12-year-old Carolina Dog with a gentle spirit and a fiercely loyal heart. He's the kind of companion who bonds deeply. Once you're his person, your family becomes his family. Brody loves cuddles, quiet time near his people, and spending time outside for walks or just soaking in the sunshine. He's wonderful with children and smaller dogs, and he's protective in the best way. He's watchful, but quick to relax once he sees you welcome someone with a hug or handshake. He can be a little shy around men at first, but patience and kindness quickly earn his trust. Kennels aren't his favorite, but Brody is happiest in a home where he can be part of daily life, near those he loves. Though he's slowing down a bit with age, his devotion and warmth are stronger than ever. If you're looking for a loyal companion who loves deeply, protects gently, and will remind you every day what unconditional love looks like, Brody's ready to meet you.

Story
Meet Foxy! Foxy is a gorgeous, spirited dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She’s playful, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure, whether that’s a walk outside, a car ride, or simply keeping you company at home. Foxy is very smart and attentive, she loves learning new things and is eager to please the people she loves. What makes Foxy truly shine is her loyalty. Once she bonds with you, she’ll be your biggest fan and most devoted companion. She’s alert and confident, which means you’ll always feel safe with her by your side, but she’s also silly, sweet, and loves to cuddle when it’s time to relax. Foxy would do best with someone who appreciates an energetic, intelligent dog and can give her the time, love, and structure she deserves. In return, she promises endless love, fun, and a lifetime of devotion. I can provide her cage, toys, medication (heartworm and trazadone), collar and leash.
