Story
Meet Lila, a petite little cat/fox/coyote hybrid with a sweet heart, a social nature, and a floofy booty.
Want to see Lila’s personality in motion? Head to her YouTube video here:
https://youtu.be/Vt-nzCUjO7o
Lila walks nicely on leash and thanks to her size and manners, isn’t much of a puller, which makes strolls feel easy and calm. With people, she’s very approachable, she has greeted every person she has met with the same warm welcome. When she walks into a room full of people there is a part of her that lights up, almost like she just walked into a suprise party for her. She is accepting of affection without pushing for it and she was even comfortable being picked up! Her comfort zone with humans is already pretty solid, and it shows.
With other dogs, Lila has been introduced to a wide variety of dogs and we can see that she can be a bit insecure. This mostly looks just like it would in people, a bit avoidant and a tiny bit anti-social. Given she is only estimated to be 1 year old, she is the perfect age to learn from new experiences. She will continue to meet new dogs and live along side them while she waits to be adopted and we anticipate this will result into her growing the confidence to build canine-connections and find her playful side. When she gets to her new home she will need the understanding that she may need a refresh on this learning- phase but we do not anticipate any issues with her integrating into a home with dogs. Though she would absolutely love to be an only-dog if that is what you are looking for. Lila weighs an adorable 26 lbs and although we cannot guarantee breed or age given she is a rescue, we see Carolina dog, Chihuahua, maybe even some corgi. Fluffy, petite, golden-coated cutie, 100%. With proper decompression, slow introductions, and confidence-building, we think she can live with a dog, ideally one who’s calm, respectful, and not pushy.
Cats are a no for Lila. She got too interested so we would love to set her up for success by keeping her in a cat-free home.
Home-wise, Lila could do well in an apartment as long as her brain and body get their daily dose of walks, sniffy time, basic training games, puzzle toys, and continued socializing. As for kiddos, she met 8 year old Cash and basically melted into a puddle of fluff looking for a belly rub. We believe she would do well in a home with dog savvy older, 8+, children who would enjoy spending time playing fetch and other games with her! If you have a young child and are curious to know how she is, please feel free to let us know and we will check it out for you!
If you’re looking for a small companion who’s already sweet with people and just needs patient, thoughtful support to feel secure around other dogs, Lila is ready to be your girl. Apply today!

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!
We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
