Story
Oreo is a stray kitten that was found in our garage after sneaking in during a thunderstorm one night. We found him by hearing him crying out there the next morning. We have been feeding him and trying to find owners but so far have had no luck. Animal control was contacted and we have held him for the amount of time required by our city before placing him up for adoption. He has had no vet care except for deworming meds. The vet we saw estimated him to be about 5 weeks old so he will be old enough for first shots in about 3 weeks. We have been reaching out to local rescues but have heard “no” from every one of them so far. Asking a small adoption fee to make sure he goes to a safe, loving home and to cover some of the supplies we bought for him. In the week that we’ve had him we’ve noticed he is a sweet, loving, and playful kitten.

Meet Sandy, the cutest little girl at the shelter! Sandy prefers to spend most of her day sleeping near a window or in a quiet hiding spot. But if you shake a treat bag, she will come running and crying for those treats! Sandy is the sister to Danny, and she's the more quiet and shy one of the two. She will need help gaining her confidence, but once she warms up to you, she is all cuddles. If interested in Sandy, go to our website www.humanecherokeecounty.org, click on adoption and fill out an application. Once we have a completed application a volunteer will contact you.

Story
Beno is a sweet, affectionate kitten. His favorite things are head scratches and rolling around. He's still a little shy and likes to hide when there's a lot going on. When it's nice and quiet, he will come out to swat around a toy. Beno is looking for a family that will be patient and work with his shyness. Once he bonds with you, he will be a great lap cat.

Story
Meet Asher – Your Personal Purring Scarf 🧡 From the moment Asher arrived at the shelter, he’s been pure sunshine. This sweet orange boy is overflowing with love and isn’t shy about showing it. His signature move? Wrapping himself gently around the back of your neck like a cozy little scarf — because why sit next to you when he can be as close as possible? Asher adores being held and will happily melt into your arms, purring up a storm. But don’t let his cuddly side fool you — this boy is also an explorer at heart! When he’s not soaking up affection, he’s busy investigating every nook and cranny, turning the world into his playground. Toys that skitter and roll are his absolute favorite. Toss him a little plush mouse or a jingly ball, and you’ll see his playful spirit come to life as he bats and chases with delight. Asher has fit in beautifully with the other cats here, showing he’s as social as he is sweet. And yes, he might lean into that classic “orange cat energy” stereotype — but that just means he brings extra personality, silliness, and heart wherever he goes. If you’re looking for a cat who will be your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your daily dose of entertainment, Asher is ready to wrap himself right around your life (and your neck!). Could your home be the one this affectionate adventurer has been waiting for?

Story
This kitten was found in an employee parking area in Tahlequah. She wouldn’t be caught but the staff loves cats and made sure she had food, water and a place to sleep, if wanted. I told them if they’d catch her, I’d foster her until we find a forever home. Th Vet said she’s about 6-7 weeks old and will make an excellent indoor cat! She gets her first vaccination this week.I will pay to have her vaccinations completed by my vet. She is super sweet, purrs a lot, loves kids. Likes to play and be cuddled. Beautiful & healthy! We hope she will be fed, at the least, Purina Pro Plan or keep her on Hill’s Science.A great diet is everything! She must be kept as an INDOOR cat for her own safety and well being. She does not scratch furniture. If you believe in “mutilating a cat by declawing.”This is not your cat. If you’ve never read up on how horrid this practice is, please do so. 😱 She’s free if you can afford to feed her a healthy diet that is Vet approved. She is very sweet!
